Chapter 1 - Prologue

Love is sought, love is fought for. Love is deceived, love is extorted. Love can be betrayed. But most of all, love can hurt, but can love heal the wounds it has caused? Can love love despite the scars carved into the heart? Is love feeble or strong? Or is it weak and strong? Will time and distance crack it? Will betrayal cut love's red strings?. What is love?

Well, can love be contained by a definition or a word? If a naive person were to read the word "Love," they'd think it to be synonymous with affection, but love is not mere affection. Love cannot be known by reading its definition; love cannot be known by merely wanting to love. Love is not just that minuscule word "affection" or a desire. What is love?

One cannot know love unless they have experienced love. A cycle, like an ouroboros, to know love, you must be loved, or you must love. And therefore know love. This cycle starts at birth, but every so often, life may come around and put a guard on the jaws of our ouroboros of love and stop the cycle at its roots. From the point of conception, the snake is stopped, never to know love. Or will that snake break through those guards? Can it? Or are the lacerations from the guard too painful to allow that snake to eat its tail and to know love?

May the love rise from the ashes of this tragedy like a phoenix or die? Will we ever hear love's poetry, or is it forever a poem of sorrow? Will we ever see the other side of this two-sided coin, or its other face more aptly? May we find solace in its fortress despite the sieges we have undergone in the past? May we ever see its guiding star light? Will we ever see its gem, or is it too jaded to glisten? Will we ever know what love is?

 Is

 Love?
