Chapter 81 - [DEM] 81: Agreement Fulfilled

Marcus was the easiest of the group to deal with.

After he and Spencer co-founded the Umbrella Corporation, as the company grew and their virus research deepened, Marcus's personality became increasingly twisted.

In time, he was no longer satisfied with animal testing and turned his sights on humans.

Soon, twenty prospective executives at the training facility died at his hands. This incident eventually reached Spencer, whose ambition led him to have Marcus's every move monitored.

Later, Spencer reported Marcus for abusing his authority and conducting human experiments on the training facility's students.

Marcus was stripped of all his positions.

Spencer intended to reassign Marcus to another department, but Marcus refused the transfer and returned to the now-closed research institute attached to the training facility.

This incident drove a wedge between the two, and their paths diverged further.

Of the three who had founded Umbrella, aside from Edward Ashford, who died early, these two ended up as bitter enemies.

Though both remained part of Umbrella, they each formed their own factions.

It's worth noting that after Spencer delved into the occult and summoned Rizevim, he sold his soul to join Rizevim, becoming a devil.

But he never told Marcus about this.

Marcus didn't even know Spencer had become a devil.

With the power of a devil, Spencer quickly sidelined Marcus, exiling him to an island to continue his virus research.

In Morpheus's view, this wasn't so much exile as imprisonment.

Honestly, if Marcus didn't have some talent for virus research, he would likely have died at Spencer's hands by now.

Morpheus learned from Spencer's memories that he had considered killing Marcus more than once but held back for the sake of the virus research.

Marcus was one of Umbrella's top executives and the only one who hadn't scattered viruses across the world.

Not because he didn't want to.

He simply lacked the authority and power to do so.

If Marcus had that authority, Morpheus believed he would be even more reckless than Spencer.

Because Marcus genuinely didn't see humans as people.

So, after locating the island where Marcus was confined, Morpheus raised a hand and unleashed a white orb condensed from the power of light.

Rizevim had once tried to use this move to defeat Morpheus.

It failed, leaving Rizevim gravely injured and defeated by Morpheus.

Now, Morpheus had mastered the technique and used it against Marcus.

The white orb struck the ground and exploded, releasing a terrifying shockwave that swept across the island like a cataclysmic tidal wave.

In that moment, the island's forests, laboratories, viruses, buildings—everything was reduced to ash under the impact.

A dazzling mushroom cloud billowed into the sky.

When it was over, Marcus, the island's laboratory, the viruses, the structures—everything had vanished.

Even the island itself was left with a massive crater, filled by rushing seawater.

The scene was nothing short of spectacular.

With Marcus dealt with, the founders of Umbrella, along with the ambitious Wesker siblings, had been completely eradicated.

The mastermind behind it all had been defeated by Morpheus and taken to the Hell by Sirzechs.

The remaining figures were insignificant.

The Umbrella Corporation was now a lamb awaiting slaughter, ripe for destruction.

However, Morpheus didn't press the advantage immediately. Instead, he returned to Japan and sought out Medea, expressing his desire to meet Alaya.

"Of course, no problem, Boss," Medea agreed readily.

That night, Morpheus once again met Alaya, the Counter Force of humanity, in a dream.

"You must know about the Umbrella Corporation by now," Morpheus said slowly, looking at Alaya, who had entered his dream.

Alaya nodded. With the commotion Morpheus had caused, it was hard for Her to be unaware.

"The mastermind behind Umbrella and the high-ranking members who allied with devils have been taken down by me. The rest are no threat. You should hand over the remaining eight Heroic Spirits to me."

Alaya had no intention of reneging on the deal. She replied briskly, "Tell me, who do you want this time?"

Without hesitation, Morpheus provided a list.

He had already planned this out.

Alaya frowned upon seeing the list but didn't refuse, ultimately agreeing.

"If it's these individuals, that's fine."

Morpheus grinned happily. "A pleasure working with you, Alaya."

Unfortunately, Alaya wasn't pleased at all. For this crisis, She had paid the price of ten Heroic Spirits—a steep loss.

So She said, "Though Umbrella's top executives are dead, the corporation still exists. I hope you can destroy it completely as soon as possible."

"This is my job too?" Morpheus was surprised. With Alaya's power, sending a few Heroic Spirits would be enough to dismantle the Umbrella Corporation.

Without the executives hell-bent on humanity's destruction and the devils backing them, Umbrella was now vulnerable.

"It's part of the agreement," Alaya said before leaving Morpheus's dream.

Morpheus shrugged.

The next day, Morpheus awoke from his sleep and summoned Paracelsus and Medea, planning to summon Heroic Spirits and introduce them to their new allies.

Neither of them refused.

Once they arrived, Morpheus prepared a magic circle and began the summoning ritual.

"Fill. Fill. Fill. Fill. Fill. Let each be turned over five times, simply breaking asunder the fulfilled time. Let silver and steel be the essence. Let stone and the archduke of contracts be the foundation. "

"Let my name be the ancestor. Raise a wall, against the wind that shall fall. Close the four cardinal gates. Come out from the crown. Rotate the three-branched road reaching the Kingdom."

"I shall declare here. Your body shall serve under me. My fate shall be with your sword. Submit to my beckoning. If you will submit to this will and this reason... then answer!"

As the incantation ended, the magic circle erupted in radiant light.

Eight distinct figures materialized in Morpheus's room.

From left to right, they were:

From Indian mythology's Mahabharata, the son of the sun god Surya, clad in golden armor impervious to the gods and wielding a god-slaying spear that never misses.

The Hero of Charity - Karna.

The chosen worker of Alaya, not a traditional Heroic Spirit but a Guardian, a defensive mechanism born from the collective unconscious desire for humanity's continuation.

The Counter Guardian - Emiya Shirou.

A pivotal figure of the Sengoku period, once mocked as the "Great Fool of Owari" in youth, he defeated Yoshimoto Imagawa at Okehazama, earning fame across the land.

He later overcame powerful foes, but just as he was on the verge of unifying the nation, he was betrayed by Mitsuhide Akechi and perished at Honnō-ji.

The Demon King of the Sixth Heaven - Oda Nobunaga.
