Chapter 80 - [DEM] 80: Neat and Tidy

Yes, Spencer's little schemes were completely transparent to Rizevim.

After all, Spencer had sold even his soul to Rizevim. How could his actions possibly escape Rizevim's notice?

Interestingly, Rizevim didn't stop Spencer.

He was curious to see if a mere human could develop a virus specifically targeting devils.

If Spencer succeeded in creating such a virus, Rizevim wouldn't hesitate to take it and use it against the devil of the Hell.

Though Rizevim was a devil himself, he was an utter failure.

He once dreamed of making devils great, but his father, Lucifer, rejected the idea.

So he challenged Lucifer, only to be effortlessly defeated and imprisoned in the Hell's jails.

Though Rizevim had since escaped, he was now a fugitive in the Hell.

Most of the devils who followed him perished in the battle during his escape.

Now, Rizevim had few allies left.

How could someone like him dominate the world?

So when Spencer began researching a virus targeting devils, Rizevim didn't intervene. Instead, he watched with interest.

If it succeeded, he could use the virus to control the Hell's devils, turning them into his slaves.

If it failed, it didn't matter.

He already had the Infinite Dragon God Ophis, the naive and innocent being, in his pocket. By manipulating her, he could still achieve his goals.

But Rizevim never imagined that before he could accomplish anything, he'd be defeated by Morpheus.

Well… that's a bit off-topic.

In short, that's how things stood.

After reading Spencer's memories, Morpheus finally understood why he was developing the Apocalypse Virus.

It was perfectly logical.

Though Spencer had pledged himself to Rizevim due to his fear of mortality, that didn't mean he was truly loyal to him.

It was normal for two devils to have their differences.

Spencer thought he was being cautious, unaware that everything was under Rizevim's watchful eye.

His little schemes couldn't fool Rizevim.

Even if he succeeded in developing a virus targeting devils, he wouldn't rise to prominence in the Hell.

It would only benefit Rizevim.

If that future had come to pass, Morpheus figured Spencer would have been furious enough to curse.

He might even have wanted to end it all.

Fortunately, Spencer didn't have to face that grim future. After reading his memories, Morpheus extracted his soul and subjected it to the flames of Hellfire.

Morpheus chose such a laborious method to deal with Spencer for two reasons.

First, he didn't want Spencer to die too easily.

Second, he needed Spencer's body to remain alive.

Spencer was terrified of death, fearing that Alaya would send someone to eliminate him.

So he had injected an electronic chip into his brain.

If his brain died, the chip would issue a final command.

This would trigger the release of viruses hidden across the world.

The Blacklight Virus, MK Virus, Progenitor Virus, and more would all be unleashed at once.

The devastation to humanity would be unimaginable.

Who knew how many would perish in such a viral catastrophe?

So Morpheus didn't behead Spencer. Instead, he extracted his soul and roasted it in Hellfire.

For someone like him, even the privilege of descending to Hell was too good. In the end, under the torment of Hellfire, Spencer's soul wailed in agony, disintegrating into nothingness, forever denied rebirth.

It's worth noting that Morpheus only knew Hellfire because he had read Rizevim's memories, learning a vast array of magic from them.

Summoning Hellfire was one particularly useful devilish spell.

Devils loved nothing more than roasting their enemies' souls in Hellfire.

Morpheus had just tried it, and it felt quite satisfying.

At the very least, Spencer's end was anything but peaceful—filled with excruciating pain.

Seeing this, Morpheus smiled with satisfaction.

After dealing with the founder of the Umbrella Corporation, Morpheus found another figure in the manor.

Alex Wesker.

Like Albert Wesker, she was one of the thirteen candidates selected for the Wesker Project, an initiative by Umbrella to create a "superior human race."

She was Subject Number Twelve.

Albert Wesker was Subject Number Thirteen.

Unlike Albert Wesker, who was sent out on missions, Alex remained by Spencer's side, becoming his trusted aide.

She was also involved in developing the Apocalypse Virus.

Morpheus naturally wouldn't spare her. He extracted her soul as well, subjecting it to Hellfire until it was utterly destroyed.

Then, Morpheus traveled to Raccoon City to find the other Wesker.

Albert Wesker.

The one who had sent Ada Wong to investigate Umbrella's Tokyo branch.

Since Spencer and Alex had already been reduced to ash, there was no reason to let this Wesker live.

A family must be neat and tidy, right?

Having read Spencer's memories, Morpheus knew everything about Wesker's hideout and movements. He quickly located Albert Wesker in a mansion in Raccoon City.

Dealing with this Wesker was straightforward, no different from handling Spencer or Alex.

Read memories, extract soul, roast in Hellfire—a seamless process.

When Albert Wesker's soul disintegrated in the Hellfire, he didn't even know how he died or who killed him.

Like Spencer, Albert Wesker was ruthless, having developed numerous viruses and hidden them across the world.

If he died, those viruses would be released.

These people were the type to say, "If I die, let the world drown in chaos."

Such individuals truly didn't deserve to live.

After destroying their souls, Morpheus preserved their bodies for the time being.

Then he tracked down the last high-ranking member of the Umbrella Corporation.

James Marcus.

Like Spencer, Marcus was one of Umbrella's founders, researching the Progenitor Virus alongside Oswell E. Spencer and Edward Ashford.

Unfortunately, Edward Ashford died too early.

So the only remaining founders of Umbrella were Spencer and Marcus.

Now that Spencer and his subordinates were gone, only Marcus remained.
