Chapter 1 - One

Mo Shengsheng looked at the red lipstick mark on the shirt with lowered eyes. Her eyes burned with unshead tears but she held them back.

She remained calm on the surface but her tightly clenched fists betrayed her current mood.

She didn't want to believe he would actually cheat. But to keep deceiving herself with this much proof was insanity.

She settled him back on the bed with careful movements. So careful that her hands trembled slightly.

She looked at her husband who was passed out and stunk of alcohol with complicated eyes. Had she been brainless after all? Who would dare to force the prince of the Liu family to drink alcohol?

If he had said he was going out with friends that would be different. But he said it was a business dinner. She was sure that if she dared to confront him about it, he would give her some half-assed reason and call it a day.

Mo Shengsheng looked at him one last time then walked out of the room with soft footsteps.

Taking a deep breath, she leaned her back on the wall sliding softly to the ground. She held her head between her hands for a few minutes then took out her phone to make a call.

After the call connected, she skipped the pleasantries.

"I want you to check something out for me."

The other party agreed and she told them what it was. They were a bit surprised but took on the job nonetheless.

She could already guess how much of a scandal it would cause if this got out but she didn't care anymore. If it was true—which she was pretty much sure it was, there was no need to cover it up.

She stayed in the same position for a while then stood up and splashed some water on her face in the bathroom.

She picked her medicine container and popped out a pill but before putting it in her mouth, she paused.

She stared at the pill for a few seconds then put it in a transparent bag and kept the rest in the cupboard.

She was suspicious by nature and now that he had let her know he was untrustworthy, there was no way she could keep trusting him.

Mo Shengsheng sighed softly and schooled her features to one of indifference then walked out of the bathroom.

She walked downstairs quietly thinking no one would be awake at this time but came face to face with the butler.

She ignored him and walked to the fridge to pick out some fruits.

He walked over quietly and seemed to be observing her.

"Something?"

He smiled and backed away.

"I was just wondering why the madam came downstairs this late."

Her heart hammered in her ribs as two words exploded in her head. He knew. She kept her face neutral.

"Since when do you need to concern yourself with my affairs?"

He didn't react at all and only smiled faintly then bowed.

"If so, I won't disturb madam."

Mo Shengsheng stood stiffly in front of the refrigerator until the sound of his footsteps could no longer be heard.

She sneered softly. He seemed respectful on the surface but his eyes held no regard towards her. It seems she used to be blind beyond belief.

After taking a deep breath to steady her nerves, she ate an apple and went back upstairs sensitively noticing the line of sight falling on her.

She didn't want to sleep in the same room as him so she walked to the guest bedroom.

While lying down, her mind flew through various possibilities but none could answer her questions.

When did he change so much? Why did she not notice it? Why would he disrespect their marriage so badly? When did he become this unrecognizable person?

Thinking about it, had he always been this way? Was she the one who was stuck in a fantasy and refused to extract herself? She didn't know what to think anymore. Her mind was a jumbled mess.

Although she slightly resented whoever left the lipstick print on his shirt, a small part of her felt grateful. She would rather be aware than be kept in the dark like a fool. And whoever did it must've been sure she would see it.

She knew he was a bit different from when they were kids. He had changed and she convinced herself that she had changed as well. But today forced her to acknowledge the reality. Her prince would never do such a disgusting thing.

He knew what she hated the most was cheating. She had said it several times that this was a deal breaker. She always thought it would never come to that and he probably thought she was just saying casual words.

Her heart clenched when she thought of how he must have thought her stupid. She had always been proud of their marriage thinking that even though they hadn't been able to have a child after two years, he was still so gentle and considerate.

She wanted to laugh at herself. Why wouldn't he be considerate when he was fooling around. It was the least he could do.

As for his friends, she was sure they all knew about it. But none of them thought to tell her. No one thought the right decision was to inform her.

Thinking that she had been sharing a man with unidentified women outside made her nauseous.

Didn't he think for a second about her safety? Everyone knew she was his wife. She was sure his mistresses were aware too. What if they tried to harm her while she was blissfully unaware thinking her marriage was perfect?

Above all she resented him. For making her think he loved her. For leading her on. For tying her up in this marriage.

Mo Shengsheng was a lot of things but a coward wasn't one of them. She didn't need a man to live. Since he couldn't keep his pants up, there was no need keeping him around anymore.
