Chapter 25 - 25. Behave!

Daisy plopped herself down between Lara and Rain. The car's back seat was spacious—plenty of room to breathe, but somehow, she still managed to cling to Rain like there wasn't an inch to spare.

Lara kept tugging Daisy back toward her side every few minutes, flashing Rain an awkward, apologetic smile each time. The last thing she needed was to make her client uncomfortable or worse, give him the wrong idea.

"Behave!," Lara hissed under her breath.

Daisy, of course, didn't.

She leaned forward slightly, staring at Rain like he was some kind of art exhibit come to life.

Lara sank back against the seat, silently cursing the situation and praying they'd reach home soon.

Rain glanced at Daisy through the side mirror every now and then. He never looked at her directly, but it was hard to miss the way her face lit up like a kid who'd just found their new favorite toy.

He smirked faintly, amused by her unwavering fascination with his face

They finally pulled up in front of Daisy's house. Lara let out a quiet breath of relief as she got out of the car. Thank god this girl didn't say or do anything stupid, she thought.

But, of course, she'd celebrated too soon.

"This is my house," Daisy announced proudly, wobbling slightly on her feet. "I live here alone. You know, it gets lonely sometimes… no one to keep me warm, you see?" She smirked, turning toward Rain. "You could come in. Just for the night, you know...."

Lara froze. Oh, for god's sake. Just when things were going fine....., you had to ruin it, DAISSSYYYYY! she screamed internally.

Rain let out a low laugh, shaking his head. "Not this time, ma'am. Maybe some other day," he said politely. Then he turned toward Lara. "Would you like me to drop you off somewhere?"

Lara waved her hands quickly. "No, no, I'm good. I live just a few streets away. Thank you for the ride and for helping with that creep earlier." She paused, glancing apologetically toward Daisy. "And I'm really sorry about her. She's completely drunk. Please… forgive her."

"That's fine. Please take care," Rain said, giving a small bow before turning to leave.

"is the handsome leaving already?" Daisy sulked, pouting like a child.

"You are just… ahhh!" Lara groaned, dragging a hand down her face. "How did I even become friends with you? Seriously, what kind of idiot was I back then?"

She grabbed Daisy by the arm and started pulling her toward the gate, while Daisy whined as she tried to catch one last glimpse of Rain.

Rain, now seated in his car, couldn't help but chuckle at the scene.

Once he saw them both disappear safely inside, he leaned back and said calmly, "Let's go."

His bodyguard nodded, and the car rolled away into the quiet night.
