Chapter 37 - Chapter 37: The Council's Counterattack

The city's skyline shimmered under the rising sun, but Mukul could feel it—an uneasy energy creeping through the streets. The Council of Shadows had regrouped, but this time, it wasn't just constructs or energy blasts. They had an ally—a mysterious, powerful entity hidden within the city, amplifying their reach.

"They've found a new partner," Mukul said, golden aura flaring faintly. "And I don't think it's human."

Meera's eyes narrowed. "The energy readings are unlike anything we've seen before. Dark, ancient, and aggressive. If it reaches full power, the city won't stand a chance."

Kavya twirled her dagger with a mischievous grin. "Ancient and aggressive? Sounds perfect. I like a challenge."

Anaya crossed her arms. "Perfect for who? We survive by strategy, not bravado. Focus, Mukul—we need a plan."

Saira's calm voice added, "Observation first. The entity's power is dangerous, but predictable patterns may exist. Coordination and vigilance are crucial."

Liyana leaned back, spinning her lockpick. "And style makes everything look cooler. Even dodging ancient dark energy."

Mukul nodded. "We split into two teams. Anaya, Meera, and I confront the entity directly. Kavya, Saira, and Liyana will cut off its reinforcements and neutralize any traps. Timing and precision are critical."

They moved through the shadow-laced streets, golden light from the artifacts revealing subtle energy traces. The city seemed to pulse in response to the entity's presence—buildings trembled, and shadows danced unnaturally.

Suddenly, a massive wave of dark energy erupted from an abandoned plaza. Guardians surged, larger and faster than ever.

"Brace yourselves!" Mukul shouted, golden aura expanding around the group.

Anaya and Meera struck first, dismantling guardians with precise attacks. Kavya leapt from above, striking multiple enemies at once. Saira blocked energy blasts, shielding Liyana while she dismantled mystical wards, clearing a path to the entity.

The entity emerged—a towering, shadow-wrapped figure, eyes like molten gold, radiating overwhelming power.

Mukul stepped forward, aura blazing. "We won't let you destroy the city!"

The entity lunged, dark energy pulsing violently. Mukul and the women reacted instinctively. Meera blocked its initial strikes, Anaya dismantled energy nodes controlling the battlefield, Kavya attacked from above, Saira intercepted energy surges, and Liyana neutralized wards keeping the entity stabilized.

Golden light from Mukul's hands intertwined with the artifacts, striking the entity's core. It staggered but did not fall.

"They've strengthened it with the Council's magic," Mukul realized. "We need to destabilize both simultaneously!"

The women moved with perfect synchronization. Meera struck a weak point in the entity's armour, Anaya targeted controlling nodes, Kavya distracted and destabilized auxiliary constructs, Saira deflected lethal energy pulses, and Liyana disrupted protective wards.

Mukul focused all his golden energy, channelling it through the artifacts. Light surged through the plaza, destabilizing the entity. It let out a deafening roar as its power fractured, guardians collapsed, and the Council's control weakened.

Breathing heavily, Mukul looked at the women. Each was bruised but determined, eyes shining with resolve.

"Teamwork," he said softly. "Coordination, trust, and unity—that is why we survive and triumph."

Kavya grinned. "And style, don't forget style."

Anaya smirked. "Coordination wins. Chaos doesn't matter."

Saira nodded calmly. "Unity and vigilance always prevail."

Meera added firmly, "Protecting each other—that is our true strength."

Liyana twirled her dagger, "And charm always helps."

The entity collapsed into shadows, its power broken. The Council's counterattack had failed—but Mukul knew they would adapt, regroup, and strike again.

Golden light pulsed from the artifacts, a reminder that together, they could face darkness, uncover hidden threats, and protect the city.

The sun rose fully over the skyline, bathing the city in light. Mukul and his allies had survived the Council's most dangerous counterattack yet. The war was far from over, but their bond, strategy, and courage had proven stronger than the shadows.
