Knox's POV
I followed Kane to Levi's office, Hunter pacing in my mind
"Mate, go to her, claim her! Now!" He growled in my mind.
"We need to find out what's going on first, she didn't sense us… something's… not right" -I replied to Hunter before shutting him out, I needed a clear mind to understand what exactly was going on.
Kane wasted no time stepping into Levi's office
Stuttering "alphas, uh, what do I owe the pleasure."
"Who is that girl?" Kane said calmly but with an aura that made Levi bow his head slightly.
"Girl?.. oh the new girl behind the bar?… her names Callie, a human"
I banged my fist on his desk
"Not a human!… she's our mate!" I shouted at him, fury bubbling over that my mate was working in this club, behind that bar.
"Please, alphas I had no idea…sh..she didn't say she was your mate and must be masking her wolf as I did not sense it" Levi sputtered, head still bowed.
He wasn't lying. My wolf could sense he telling the truth.
"Call her in here" Kane said calmly.
"Yes Alpha!" Levi responded, walking quickly out of the office.
Why didn't her wolf sense us? Why did Levi think she was human? If she was masking her wolf, who was she? An enemy? Or prehaps she lied about her age to get the job and didn't actually have her wolf yet.
A light, timid knock on the door interrupted my thoughts.
"Hi I'm Callie, Levi said you asked to see me?"
Came the sweetest melodic voice that made flutters in my chest.
I quickly cleared my throat. "Yes, come and take a seat" I replied strained, but calmly.
