In a sprawling, beautiful prairie, the wind blows and makes the tall grass sway in waves. mountains can be seen in the distance. In the middle of it all, A young man snaps awake. His white hair flowing in the wind. His delicate nose illuminated by the sun. His deep blue eyes darting to his surroundings.
He looks around in shock, without a clue where he is or how he got there. He sits up and begins to take in his surroundings. As the shock starts to fade he slowly starts to notice things that don't look normal to him. The prairie grass was white, the sky was dark, and the sun seemed more red.
'Where on Earth could I have gone?' He began to wonder
After the whiplash has passed him, he began to think more and came to realize he was in the midst of an unfamiliar wilderness with no trails leading him back to civilization. he looks around more to see if he can find any sign of civilization. He looked to the mountains to see if he could spot any obvious towns or roads. Then he turned to the endless sprawling rolling hills of white grass. Nothing obvious stuck out to him, only some forestry here or there.
After some hard contemplation, the young man decided to begin moving towards the mountains. It would make sense to get a vantage point to attempt to see any signs of human life before deciding on where he would go, and the sides of the mountains had lots of trees which meant potential for food if needed. As he began walking it gave him time to think deeper on how he made it to a place so far removed from civilization. His memory was feeling fuzzy, but the last thing he could remember was still being at work in a city. No nature like this existed within hundreds of miles from him! how could he have made it here in a short enough time that he couldn't even wake up to remember. His body didn't show any real signs of aging, so he assumed it wasn't some sort of amnesia. But what else could it be? No one was there to give him answers, and he couldn't find them on his own. The young man finally decided to think about it more after he found a nice place to relax.
Broken from he contemplative stupor he began to look around more. the fields of white seemed looked so vast and beautiful. It filled him with a sense of content that he had not felt for months. The beautiful blue tinted mountains in the distance
"maybe this isn't all so bad" He uttered to no one.
After what felt like hours of walking the terrain had slowly changed. The white grass grew shorter, light yellow bushes had seemed to dominate more in this region. The mountains had grown much closer, and he could now clearly see that the mountains had forestry running up the sides of it, and a small river running down from the top. The young man's eyes lit up at the sight of running water. His throat had grown dry, and with nothing to quench it, his body was becoming sluggish. As the young man continued walking he began to notice the total lack of wildlife around him. while bizarre, he chalked it up to the animals all avoiding the loud person blatantly walking around in the open.
'Animals always tend to avoid people in the wild, and I can't blame them' he mused.
Now that the mountains have become so close, the ground began to slope more and more. The previously sparse hills now became populated with more and more trees and underbrush. The trees that seemed normal from a distance now showed a lot of differences.
The trees were hollow. Hollow to the point it was obvious from a semi-close distance. The trees looked like webs of wood. At some points the trees were completely see-through. This only served to add to the young man's sense of disorientation.
Where is he?
How did he get here?
Why can't he remember it at all?
These questions dominated his mind as he walked. The hours passed by and the young man eventually reached the mountains. The area was completely populated by these hollow trees, some more hollow than others. The sky had grown darker, leaving the young man 3-4 hours to find shelter before the night.
"Maybe it wasn't the best idea to spend so much time walking for the mountains. I hoped they would be closer." He reflected
Regardless now that he was in a wooded area he had more opportunities to find shelter. He started by walking in the general direction that he saw the river in on his walk over. Starting his search near the river would help him stay close to the only body of water he knows of.
After what felt like an hour or two, the young man had finally settled into large hallowed tree just off the river bank. The tree would keep him safe from any weather changes, but unfortunately he had no knowledge on how to start a fire to keep warm. His only saving grace was that the clothes he had on were relatively warm. He was dressed in a white button up shirt with a red tie, under a heavy black coat. He wore soft khaki pants and a pair of generic white tennis shoes.
Now that he finally has a chance to settle down, he has lots of time to begin considering what got him to where he is now.
'Lets just start from square one' he decided.
