Chapter 9 - Heavenly Eye

In a distant place, in a mechanical city filled with towering buildings and spacecraft flying across the sky, there was the planet Siwa—a world overflowing with advanced technology, with sprawling cities scattered everywhere. In a room within one of those buildings, a young girl dressed in Gothic Lolita spoke as she handed something to a man.

"The item you asked me to find… I've brought it for you, Master," she said.

The man—a young red-haired man wearing a white inner shirt under a black coat, black trousers adorned with a large chain around his neck—was none other than Macto, the Lord of Destruction.

"Ah… very well done, Septa. This is exactly what I needed—the drug that can give ordinary people special powers… And Eugene?"

"Eugene has already left, Master. She said her mission is complete and she won't be coming back," Septa replied.

"Doesn't matter. Let her go wherever she wants."

Meanwhile, on Rah Terra, Eugene held a can of soda in her hand, having just taken a sip.

"I'll find you all… those Overseers… I swear. But first… this tastes awful," she muttered.

Cut to a shabby white van-like spacecraft. Inside, Ruby was rummaging through bags of food and snacks she had obtained from Sevoria.

"Meow… look at all the free snacks I got! Meow… so many choices, it's hard to decide, meow," Ruby complained.

"If you can't decide, just leave some for me too, Ruby," Kai said from his seat by the window.

"I wish I could have powers too… so I could help everyone. Is that even possible?"

Ruby fell silent for a moment, and Mas, who was piloting the craft, stayed quiet as well.

"Yes, you can. You are the Chosen One. But I'm not, so I don't know. You should ask Mas," Ruby finally said.

"What's it like… being the Chosen One?" Kai asked.

"Being Chosen and awakening your mind are different. The Chosen are those who have made a prayer long ago—perhaps in a past life—or were born with great power, though it's rare. Anyone, however, can awaken their mind if they train, meow," Ruby explained.

Mas spoke while steering the spacecraft.

"You'll learn what hidden powers you have once you arrive at our base. Don't worry. Anyone can awaken their mind, but powers themselves can vary—or might not appear at all."

The spacecraft moved through countless stars in the darkness, approaching a small planet with blue, green, and brown colors, similar to Earth but smaller.

"We've arrived. This is our base on Forlis," Mas announced.

The craft passed through clouds, revealing a massive fortress.

"Is that our base?" Kai asked.

"Yes, meow. This is where we'll deliver the mission data to our leader," Ruby said.

The three disembarked into the bustling base.

A young girl with white hair, red eyes, cat ears, and a tail, wearing a white T-shirt and black skirt, leapt onto Ruby as she stepped down.

"How was it, big sister Ruby? I've been waiting for you. Did you bring snacks?"

Ruby hugged her little sister. "Yes! I brought bags and bags of snacks, meow."

"Yay! You're so nice!"

Mas spoke while getting off the van. "Kai, come with me. We need to meet someone."

Kai smiled faintly. "Yes, Boss." He thought to himself: If I train, maybe I'll get powers… what kind of power would I have?

Among the crowd, Mas and Kai made their way to a large room filled with people and waited.

"Who are we waiting for?" Kai asked, looking at Mas.

"She'll be here soon. I'm entrusting you to her. She'll train you and prepare you for dangerous missions ahead."

A young woman with long white hair, pink eyes, a slim 160 cm frame, wearing a white dress and white sneakers, walked toward Kai and Mas. Her voice was soft, gentle, and calm.

"Hello, I'm Anthea. Mas has told me about you, Kai. I'll be helping you learn and guiding you. But first, I need to see if you have the qualities of a Chosen One."

Mas explained, "Kai has eyes that can perceive the mind—he is indeed a Chosen One. His power allows him to see things from far away and detect hidden powers, though he cannot use it yet."

"Far away? How far?" Kai asked.

"Far enough to see across an entire planet," Anthea said softly.

"Ha… you mean… an entire planet?"

"Yes, Kai," she confirmed.
