The sea monster capturing Neptulon was a plot point in the game, supposed to happen nine thousand years later. However, Gale was not surprised, after all, the Cataclysm had been updated ten thousand years early, so the plot unfolding nine thousand years early was completely acceptable.
Gale was concerned about Neptulon's whereabouts.
In the game's plot, Neptulon was captured and taken to the Tidal Throne. The Tidal Throne in the game was located in the Abyssal Maw, which was northwest of Vashjir.
Gale used the Reality Gem to absorb the energy of the Well of Eternity, resulting in most of Vashjir being preserved, and the location of the Abyssal Maw being land. Therefore, to rescue Neptulon, he had to search deep within the ocean.
The ocean is vast, and finding Akumai's hiding place was like looking for a needle in a haystack. Although Akumai was countless times larger than a needle, compared to the ocean, there wasn't much difference between the two.
None of the Naga survived, but the Water Elementals provided some information: on the seabed north of the shipping lane between Vashjir and Stormwind City, the Naga had built an underwater city. Neptulon discovered this underwater city and then established an underground base in a nearby trench, intending to completely eradicate the Naga.
Unexpectedly, the Naga summoned a giant monster that defeated Neptulon.
The pros and cons of elementals are obvious; while possessing endless stamina, they also suffer from a lack of physical attacks.
Akumai is a sea monster, and using Water Elemental spells would be difficult to harm it. Its tentacles, however, could restrain Water Elementals, effectively countering Neptulon's abilities.
Knowing that Akumai's master was NZoth, Gale couldn't help but speculate that it was specifically created by NZoth to deal with Neptulon.
The four Elemental Lords had once bowed to the Old Gods, and the Old Gods knew who they could use and who they needed to deal with.
The most aggressive Ragnaros didn't need the Old Gods to instigate him; he would naturally oppose the Titans. The most ambitious AlAkir, with a little provocation, could be made to serve as a pawn. After scanning the underwater city with magic, he was immediately disappointed. There were only Naga-built structures within the city, no insectoid nests, so it was clearly not Nyalotha.
"Father, the Water Elementals say that's their base over there."
Nordrassil swam over, pointing to a trench to the west.
Gale said to Mejia, "You and Nordrassil go to the Water Elemental's base. If you discover Neptulon's whereabouts, notify me immediately."
Mejia nodded, waved, called over a hundred Liches, and went with Nordrassil to the trench.
Gale then commanded the remaining Liches to approach the Naga city.
The Naga quickly discovered them and attacked them with weapons.
However, as soon as they approached, they were killed by countless ice spikes. In the ocean, the Liches' magic was enhanced, and the ice spikes they released were like ice spears.
The Naga were no match and could only retreat. When the Naga Sea Witches saw this, they immediately cast spells to unleash whirlwinds. The whirlwinds, carrying water, formed one vortex after another, swirling towards the Liches.
The Liches cast spells at the whirlwinds, and the whirlwinds immediately turned into solid blocks of ice, crashing down on the underwater city. These magically formed ice blocks defied logic, possessing immense weight, and collapsing the structures built by the Naga.
Gale slowly followed behind, waiting for Akumai to appear.
Indeed, it wasn't long before the Naga Sea Witches could no longer withstand the Liches' assault. They gathered together, forming a magic circle to summon Akumai.
An invisible ripple emanated from the direction of the trench, and Akumai's enormous body rose from the trench, rapidly surging above the underwater city. Approaching the Liches, it opened its massive mouth, intending to devour them.
Before it could close its mouth, a rainbow shot into its body.
The scorching Sun God Power wounded Akumai, leaving an unhealable wound within its body.
Akumai was in immense pain, looked at Gale with fear, and turned to flee.
The Naga watched Akumai escape in astonishment, their faces showing despair. They never expected that the powerful backing they had so eagerly awaited would turn out to be a mere show-off.
They had no idea that while Akumai was effective against Neptulon, dealing with Gale was utterly delusional.
Gale feigned pursuit, while the Liches continued their assault on the Naga. Their mission was to eliminate all the Naga and bring their souls back to replenish the Netherworld's soul energy.
The Naga were defeated repeatedly, finally retreating from the underwater city.
Gale pursued for a while, then suddenly sensed that the beacon crystal had been activated, and immediately teleported over.
Inside the Tidal Throne, Neptulon lay on the ground, clearly dead.
The Water Elementals surrounded Neptulon's body, at a loss.
Mejia reported, "We detected that the Naga intended to corrupt Neptulon, so we launched a surprise attack here. As a result, that giant sea monster suddenly went berserk, killed Neptulon, and rushed out of the trench, disappearing."
Gale, connecting this to the situation outside, sighed, "The Naga Sea Witches summoned the sea monster. Seeing that it couldn't take Neptulon away, it killed him."
He approached, casting a spell to extract neptulons essence from his body. He handed the essence to the Water Elementals, "Quickly take it and return to the Water Elemental Plane; there might still be a chance to revive Neptulon."
The Water Elementals thanked him profusely, opened a portal, and returned to the Water Elemental Plane.
Only after they left did Gale quietly put another portion of neptulons essence into his magic pouch.
