The entire Netherworld was filled with a vast amount of soul energy, causing the sky to be dim and the land to be defiled.
Everyone who entered the Netherworld would be washed and eroded by soul energy. If they couldn't resist, they would be killed by the soul energy and would exist in the Netherworld as souls.
If they were killed again, they would transform into soul energy and join the murderer who killed them.
The soul energy, harmful to living beings, was a great tonic for liches. As soon as Aieria Bluemoon came into contact with the soul energy, she felt her strength slowly increasing.
If she stayed here for ten thousand years, she might even become a Death God.
"Kill!"
The Kvaldir were indeed blocking the gate; seeing a lich approach, they immediately launched an attack. Liches were no secret to the Kvaldir, as many of them had seen Lady Erythea at Twin Ports.
King Imiron, the general guarding the portal, looked down at these small liches and did not take them seriously. Clearly, he was still judging the liches' strength by their size, without much understanding of spellcasters.
Aieria Bluemoon waved her staff, and an Ice Wall blocked the Kvaldir's path.
The Kvaldir attacked the Ice Wall, and it quickly shattered.
But before they could break through the Ice Wall, over a dozen liches followed closely. They stood on both sides of the portal, summoning a Blizzard that enveloped the Kvaldir.
The Blizzard, carrying a large amount of cold air, made even the Kvaldir, who were already souls, feel cold. Their movements slowed, and the speed at which they smashed the Ice Wall also decreased.
Another dozen liches teleported over and joined the battle. They took their positions, began a joint spellcasting, and summoned the Extreme Cold Storm.
Subsequent liches then drew magic circles on the ground, placing their positions on the nodes.
King Imiron frowned as he looked at the dark clouds in the sky. Only then did he realize that these small liches could actually cast magic with such power.
He could not let this spell succeed. Imiron quickly charged towards the Ice Wall, directly smashing through it, and then rushed towards the magic circle.
Aieria Bluemoon pointed her staff, and a Frost Nova struck Imiron. However, Imiron's steps did not falter; he directly smashed through the ice of the Frost Nova and continued to charge forward.
He punched the magic circle, directly knocking four or five liches to the ground, and the other liches were also sent flying by the shockwave.
"No one can stop my advance!"
Imiron said triumphantly, "You dare to enter the Netherworld; you are simply seeking your own death."
But the next second, several Ice Lances shot into his body from beneath his hand.
Imiron's expression changed drastically. He raised his hand and saw that the liches he had just struck, though their bodies were somewhat deformed, were perfectly fine. Their deformed bodies seemed not to have affected their spellcasting ability, and the Ice Lances they cast caused him great pain.
Aieria Bluemoon pointed her staff at Imiron, and a massive Arcane Energy blast struck him, sending him flying.
The liches simultaneously raised their hands to cast Arcane Barrages and stomped their staves on the ground to cast Frost Novas.
The Frost Novas blocked the Kvaldir's advance, while the Arcane Barrages struck them head-on, instantly overwhelming the pirates.
"Kill!"
A fierce Kvaldir broke through the Arcane Barrage and approached the liches. However, before he could make an attack, he was sent flying by an Arcane Blast.
It turned out that another dozen liches had entered the Netherworld.
They continuously cast Arcane Blasts, repelling any Kvaldir who dared to approach.
Aieria Bluemoon created another Ice Wall, separating the liches from the Kvaldir. The liches once again cast their spells with ease, and a Blizzard once more enveloped the area around the portal.
When a soul is attacked, it continuously loses soul energy. When the soul energy is depleted, the soul will also be killed.
Several waves of magical attacks exhausted the soul energy of several Kvaldir. They became increasingly transparent until they completely dissipated, and their soul energy drifted towards the sky, mixing with the pervasive soul energy.
Imiron had not expected these liches to be so difficult to deal with. He only regretted losing his mount. Otherwise, a single breath from a Proto-Dragon, even if it couldn't melt the liches' metal bodies, could at least break through the Ice Wall's obstruction.
As more and more liches entered the Netherworld, the scales began to tip in their favor.
Imiron, relying on his powerful strength, might still be able to injure some liches. However, it was already very difficult for the Kvaldir to reach the liches; they could only be slowly depleted of their soul energy by the liches and dissipate into the air.
On her throne, Hela stared at the battlefield at the portal.
She had not expected Imiron to be so useless, failing to offer any resistance to the enemy.
Watching the increasing number of liches, Hela couldn't help but frown.
What's going on? The liches seem endless? And they're still coming through the portal?
Can liches also be mass-produced?
As the number of Kvaldir dwindled, Imiron had no choice but to retreat. He had consumed too much of his soul energy, and if this continued, he feared he would also die at the hands of the liches.
Imiron was extremely frustrated; he had never fought such a passive battle. Even when facing Odyn, he had never felt so powerless.
Aieria Bluemoon stabilized the situation and then began to build a camp in front of the portal. The liches used solid ice as camp walls, set up gates and towers, and quickly completed their defensive arrangements.
Mejia also brought the follow-up troops through the portal. Once the liches were assembled, he immediately followed the original plan, sending Nidiir, Delyana, and Tirion to launch attacks along three routes.
Nidiir charged towards the Eternal Battlefield, Tirion headed to the docks near the Eternal Battlefield, and Delyana went to rescue Aier, while also attacking the northern docks.
Each of the three led two hundred liches out, almost making Hela's jaw drop, "Damn you, Gale, how many liches have you created?"
Hela had never imagined such an army, nor had she thought that liches could be used in this way. This war had given her too much shock and taught her a great deal.
After the war ended, she also intended to assemble such a powerful lich army.
At the Eternal Battlefield, the Kvaldir, who were constantly fighting here, spotted the enemies and immediately turned to attack. However, their attack was similar to the one at the portal; an Ice Wall blocked their path, and before they could break through it, countless spells assailed them. Some unlucky ones were instantly killed by numerous spells.
Tirion passed by here, and seeing Nidiir under attack, he immediately stopped to lend a hand.
Two hundred liches united to cast an Extreme Cold Storm.
The Kvaldir seemed to enter an abyss of ice; even as souls, they were frozen solid by the ice. Some with weaker soul power were even frozen to death.
Tirion left without hesitation, continuing to lead his two hundred liches, marching grandly towards the southern docks.
