*Nathan's room*
Nathan paced up and down impatiently, different thoughts playing his mind. Would she come back? Is she annoyed or scared of him now? He sat on the couch, heaving loudly. The deed is done; the only thing he should do now is to find a solution to it but how? What is the solution? What should he do? What exactly can he do to appease her??
He wondered, drumming the edge of the couch with his nails. Second went after seconds, minute went after minute and hours went after one another, still thinking of what to do and partially hoping that amethyst would show up as she does every day but she did not till he finally fell asleep right where he sat.
*NEXT MORNING*
*IN THE CLASS*
Nathan's head tilt to the back slowly and he gazes at amethyst's blank seat. Nobody was sitting there and amethyst is not in the room. Could it have been that something happened to her? Or is she trying to avoid him? Or did Orests bother her despite his warnings? Is she fine?
She is the kind that always comes to class early, but now… it is different. The lecture is almost over but she is nowhere to be found. She wouldn't have intentionally skip chemistry class, it is her favorite subject after all. What then happen?
He wondered, his mind wavering. He didn't know where to conclude. Is it to believe that she might be in danger or to believe that she is intentionally avoiding him?
Then…
The door to the class shut open and a figure scurried in uneasily but pauses as soon as the teacher's voice rang.
'why are you late?' the teacher asked while amethyst made a U- Turn and she glared at the teacher timidly, blinking rapidly like a shy cat.
Would she be punished for coming late?
'i… personal matters.' She replied while the teacher gestured her to walk in. that girl is obedient and always attend his class. She is even the best in his class.
Amethyst walk to her seat and sat down, her gaze moving sideways to glance at Nathan who sat there coldly, yet obediently, his silver hairs inviting as always.
The teacher continue his lessons and after few minutes, the bell was rung and people hurry out of the class, including the teacher except for piper who was waiting for amethyst, pretending to be packing her bag, and amethyst who is waiting for Nathan, pretending to still be busy with her books and Nathan who wanted to talk to amethyst but was waiting for piper to leave.
Amethyst stood on her feet, dragging her bag behind her as she walked toward Nathan and sat down on the opposite chair, backing the entrance but facing him. That piper is slight nosy. She would not leave even if she wait for forever.
Nathan's brow creases.
'Hi Nathan, sorry I couldn't inform you before leaving. My mom called me urgently so I had no choice than to leave without notice. You must have missed me so much.' She said in a loud voice as she pats Nathan's head, not minding if piper is in the class or not.
'Amethyst, there's still someone. If words get out, people may start ignoring you too.' He said, his brow creased worriedly. He can't afford to ruin her reputation. He is already being called a monster, he won't want her to pick up that title again. Rumors would spread now and those vile student would shatter people's heart with just their words.
'I don't care. Since you would not ignore me, why should I care? Everybody don't need to play with me anymore. All I know is that you are my trusted and reliable friend.' Amethyst replied, making sure that her voice is so damn loud enough to sink in piper's ear. Nathaniel, speechless than ever only stare at amethyst, his eyes brimming with admiration and thankfulness. She could risk her reputation for him, despite all the greedy words he said to her.
'i… I' not knowing what to say, he stammered, his emotion full to the brim that he felt that he would shed tears if anything touching happens again.
She is just way too precious and perfect for him to handle.
'I wanted to give you your answers, weather we should be just friends as before, brothers and sisters now or I should just follow your Italian letter…' she said, suspending the rest of her word which make Nathan's eyes widened.
Did she saw the Italian letter?
And did she understand it?
Which one did she want to pick out of the three?
'but if you want my answer to be positive. Participate in the upcoming inter school race and make sure you take up the first place, then I would give you my reply.' She stated her condition.
'is that all?' he asked curiously while amethyst nodded positively.
'I promise to take the first place' he nodded positively, his face full of assurance. If winning the race would make her give a positive answer, he wound make sure he do whatever it takes to ensure that he get that first place. Even if it is going to hell that she wants, then he would gladly dance his way to hell.
