Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: She Is Your Wife—Or Rather, Your Ex-Wife

The submissions for the global architecture competition ended at the end of March, and Polly followed her senior brothers and sisters straight to the construction site.

She stayed at the site for three months, and just as she got out, she was dragged to the bidding party by her senior sister.

At the bustling party, Polly was like a little mouse that had fallen into a vat of oil, eating and observing her surroundings, feeling immensely satisfied.

Emma Turner came over with a wine glass, watching Polly eat joyfully and smacked her on the back of her head.

Polly yelped and almost fell into the cake, rubbing her head as she turned to look at Emma, "Senior sister, what are you doing?"

"Are you here to eat?" Emma grabbed Polly, "Look at those peers around you, dressed to impress, do you know why?"

Polly hid behind her senior brother, cheeks puffing as she continued to eat, mumbling, "Bidding is about capability, not looks."

Emma glared at her, frustrated, "Hosting such a large party in this backwater is enough to show the host has money."

"Senior sister, the wealthier they are, the stingier they get, they haggle over every penny. Designing an office building for them is a losing deal."

"You speak as if you're a wealthy person yourself?" Emma looked at her little junior speak eloquently.

Polly let out a sound, her eyes beginning to drift, "Guesswork, isn't it always like this on TV?"

"On TV, rich people are always generous, showering the female lead with millions."

Polly pondered, then replied softly, "Or maybe just five million."

Emma increasingly felt there was something wrong with her quirky little junior.

"Alright, Polly never liked these occasions, don't make it hard for her." Her senior brother patted Polly's head, eyes full of indulgence.

Emma couldn't help but roll her eyes, "Just keep pampering her."

With a gleeful smile, Polly hid behind her senior brother and enjoyed the little cake he sneakily handed her.

Not too far away, Victor Parker was talking to someone, and Polly's smile inadvertently caught his attention.

The person Victor was speaking to was none other than Polly's teacher, renowned architect Oliver Walker, who noticed Victor's gaze and said, "President Parker, that's my student."

As he spoke, Oliver waved them over.

Still eating, Polly was dragged over by Emma.

"My cake..."

"This is President Parker, the host of the bidding party."

Polly had just stood steady when the sight of the man in front of her scared her out of her wits, feeling she was close to ascending to heaven.

Victor Parker!

Why is it him?

It's over for her, Victor Parker didn't strangle her three years ago, but now he definitely will.

What to do? What to do? What should she do now?

"President Parker, this is my youngest disciple, Polly Sutton, who won the gold medal at last year's world architecture competition and has entered the semi-finals this year."

Polly wished she could vanish underground, praying her teacher wouldn't say anything more, fearing for her life!

Victor looked at the figure hiding behind a man, the smile she just had was so dazzling.

"Miss Sutton, have we met before?"

Originally hiding behind her senior brother to avoid Victor's temper, Polly was surprised to hear him say that, suddenly feeling like spring had arrived and life was full of joy.

So Polly cautiously peeked her head out and decisively replied, "No, I don't know you."

Victor glanced at her, then exchanged a few more words with Mr. Walker and left with Andrew Lindsey, not sparing another glance at Polly.

Only when Polly watched him walk away did she finally exhale, scared out of her wits.

Luckily, Victor forgot her, which truly was great news.

"Polly, do you know President Parker?" The professor asked inquisitively.

"I don't know him, how could I know such a big shot?" Polly nervously replied, trying hard not to admit it since Victor forgot her. It would be insane for her to try to reconnect with him.

The professor nodded slightly, "This Victor Parker is not simple. Best not to get entangled with him privately."

"Teacher, what kind of person is Victor Parker?" Emma never expected Victor to be like this, graceful and handsome, as if no words were enough to describe him.

"Not someone to mess with. Although he's only taken over the Parker Corporation for three months, no one in business underestimates him. He seems gentle and refined, but he's actually ruthless."

Polly nodded in agreement, fully acknowledging her teacher's words, indeed ruthless, merely seeing him makes her feel suffocated.

Before leaving, Victor turned back once more to look in Polly's direction, where she seemed to be playfully snatching a pastry while smiling cheekily with a man beside her.

Seated in the car, Victor adjusted his cuffs and asked his assistant, "The name Polly Sutton sounds familiar."

Andrew paused slightly, contemplating before responding, "She's your wife, or more accurately, your ex-wife."

Victor, upon hearing this, looked up at Andrew.

His wife?

The woman who married him using his grandmother, he remembered she didn't look like this back then, certainly not as skinny, as for her name, he truly forgot.

"Ex-wife?"

He's almost forgotten he was married, let alone divorced.

"A year ago, after the old lady passed away, the wife decided to give Miss Sutton five million, asking her to divorce you. Miss Sutton took the money, signed the divorce agreement, and left the Parker Family."

If he remembered correctly, after signing the divorce papers, Miss Sutton happily bought him a bubble tea to celebrate!

But that's a story he wouldn't dare tell the boss.

"Polly Sutton." Victor murmured the name, recalling that he almost strangled her to death the night of their wedding, no wonder she was so afraid just now.

"Change the ticket back to City A to tomorrow afternoon, bring Polly Sutton to see me at the hotel."

Andrew nodded in agreement and instructed the driver to redirect to the hotel.

When Polly and Emma left the party, the warm air made Polly shiver, clinging to Emma and refusing to get up.

"I always feel there are rebels waiting to harm me." Polly said, still cautiously scanning the surroundings, only to have Emma smack her head.

Nursing her head, Polly yelped in pain and was about to retort when she saw Andrew.

Polly froze for a moment, cupping Emma's face as she was about to turn, "It's such a hot day, let me buy you an iced tea, go back to the hotel first."

Emma finally relented, "That's more like it, hurry up."

"Okay." Polly made an ok gesture, watched Emma leave before she sighed in relief, weakly approaching Andrew, "Buy you a bubble tea and pretend you didn't see me, deal?"
