Synopsis
Fifteen years ago, the sacred Moon Shrine was reduced to ashes. Under the cursed light of a blood-red moon, a priestess sacrificed her life to protect her newborn son from both human and demon blades. Watching from the cliffs above, the child’s father—Kurogane the Red Fang, a feared demon warlord—turned away. Not out of hatred. Not even out of mercy. But because of prophecy.
That child grew up in the bustling capital of Tsukigahara, raised in the care of a grumpy, retired samurai. His name: Rinmaru Kurogane.
His weapon: a sword carved out of hardened laundry soap.
Mocked since childhood as “Soapboy” after the soap brand he used to scrub dojo laundry, Rinmaru hides behind the mask of a streetwise orphan, balancing chores, odd jobs, and fistfights in the alleys. Yet even as he swings the ridiculous “Soap Sword” to fend off bullies, nightmares of fire and shadow plague him. Every full moon, the same vision returns: a woman’s scream, a burning shrine, and a deep voice whispering his name in a language he cannot understand.
When the blood moon rises again, Rinmaru’s humiliating weapon awakens with a terrifying crimson glow. He slays a soulbeast in front of half the city, moving with speed and strength beyond human. His master looks at him not with pride, but with fear. For the joke blade is more than soap—it is a relic of the Moon Shrine, tied to the curse in Rinmaru’s blood.
Now hunted by demons, eyed by suspicious priests, and stalked by the shadow of the father he never knew, Rinmaru must uncover the truth of his origin and the prophecy that surrounds him.
But destiny is cruelly ironic. The boy fated to wield the power of moon and blood, the son of a demon warlord and a fallen priestess… will forever be known to the world by the name he despises:
Soapboy.
