Levi swore he would never let mere biology dictate his actions again. No rut or whatever heat would catch him slacking.
"You're awake," Noah's voice finally vibrated with a low, heavy sound that seemed to catch in his throat.
Levi swallowed, the dryness in his mouth making it difficult. He pulled the sheets up tighter around him.
"How are you feeling?" Noah continued when he got no response from Levi.
"I'm fine," Levi said, the words coming out dry. He watched Noah's eyes scan his face, searching for something Levi refused to give him.
"Why wouldn't I be?" Levi added. "How long have you been sitting there?"
"Not long."
Does he know?
No. That's impossible. What the hell is wrong with me.
Levi winced as he slowly sat up. His back protested, making his voice come out breathless. "You look like you haven't slept."
"I haven't."
