"Eh? You're going to start training with Yume tomorrow?"
That evening, Isami Mai, who had recently started making a name for herself in the design world, had just gotten home. Before she could even put down her bag, her brain short-circuited from Saint-King Halo's sudden announcement.
"Mhm! Because we're going to be first-class horse girls, just like Mom!" Saint-King Halo said, blinking her eyes expectantly, clearly fishing for praise. Seeing this, Isami could only say, "That's wonderful," while patting her daughter's head.
She then turned her gaze to Celestial Weave, who was standing behind her sister. "You don't have to rush, you know. You're both just in elementary school. Don't listen to your sister acting like she's all that. The only reason she's faster than you right now is because she's a year older."
"She asked me to train her before, but she lost motivation after just a few days."
Knowing her daughters' personalities well, Isami knew that the easily distracted Saint-King Halo wouldn't suddenly find motivation for no reason. This must have been Celestial Weave's idea.
So, she ignored the blushing protests of Saint-King Halo and tried to persuade Celestial Weave.
"If the goal is to be a first-class horse girl, then of course, the sooner we start training, the better."
Faced with these gentle words, Celestial Weave, whose main mission was to become a first-class horse girl, had no room to back down.
Isami looked at Celestial Weave's stubborn eyes and knew that for her younger daughter, who had been mature and determined since she was little, verbal persuasion was useless. She could only smile helplessly and agree.
But it was fine. It could be considered physical exercise. It was good for her daughters to be healthy.
With that thought, Isami immediately took out her phone, intending to call her former trainer to have a trusted person watch over them so they wouldn't overdo it.
Unexpectedly, just as she took out her phone, it rang. Isami saw the name on the screen and answered immediately. "Hello? Ah, yes, I'm Celestial Weave's guardian..."
Hearing the word "guardian," Celestial Weave, who was standing nearby, felt a prickle on her back and immediately sensed trouble.
She frowned and slowly retreated behind Saint-King Halo.
You've got to be kidding me! In two lifetimes, I've never had my guardian called. There's no way I'm going down like this!
Perhaps her mind was muddled by the six years of memories, or perhaps it was some kind of primal instinct, but in that moment, Celestial Weave completely forgot that she had nothing to fear and looked ready to make a run for it.
Unfortunately, she had also forgotten how powerless an elementary schooler was against a height disadvantage.
Isami's expression hardened. She immediately hung up the phone, and a large hand swooped down towards Celestial Weave with unstoppable force. Seeing no escape, Celestial Weave could only shut her eyes and await her fate.
But to her surprise, when the hand touched her head, what she received was not instant incineration, but a voice laced with helplessness and amusement.
"You're still just a kid, after all."
Celestial Weave, her hair now a complete mess from the vigorous rubbing, could only stand there blankly, finally remembering that she was just a first-grader.
The Halo household was as warm as ever.
The loser of today's battle was the rookie female teacher, who was now feeling a little anxious after being hung up on so suddenly.
The next day, the gentle morning light streamed onto the street, filtering through the screen window and onto Celestial Weave's sleeping face. Having carried heavy burdens for so long, entering this scenario world had finally given her a peaceful night's sleep.
BANG!
A loud noise suddenly erupted. Startled awake, Celestial Weave didn't even have time to open her eyes before a familiar, high-pitched voice reached her ears.
"A first-class horse girl must, of course, go for a morning run!"
As Saint-King Halo's words fell, the thin blanket covering Celestial Weave was thrown off, and a pair of small, warm hands pulled her out of bed without any room for argument. She had just opened her eyes, but before she could even say a word, she was being dragged out of the room.
Thump, thump, thump. It wasn't until they were almost down the stairs that Celestial Weave, having learned from yesterday's experience, finally managed to voice her complaint.
"At least... at least let me change out of my pajamas!"
The commotion woke up Isami, who had stayed up late finishing a design. With dark circles under her eyes and an intimidating aura, she walked towards her daughters and gave each of them a bonk on the head.
Under their mother's imposing presence, the overly excited Saint-King Halo finally calmed down. She and Celestial Weave silently changed into their sportswear and shoes under their mother's watchful gaze, took their water bottles and keys, and then quietly closed the front door.
Not a single sound was made.
Outside, Saint-King Halo and Celestial Weave looked at each other and, for some reason, suddenly burst into laughter.
Isami went to the balcony, smiled as she watched them for a moment, then yawned and went back to her room.
The morning streets were silent, as if everyone in the world had disappeared, leaving only the two sisters.
But neither of them cared. Freed from their mother's authority, Saint-King Halo was her energetic self again, chattering non-stop. Celestial Weave, on the other hand, was quietly looking forward to seeing what kind of surprise this older sister, who was already a famous name in her reality, would bring.
"Ahem."
Saint-King Halo turned around, pretending to be a trainer, and held up a finger to Celestial Weave. "A first-class horse girl must see Los Angeles at four in the morning, you know!"
"It's five o'clock... and we're in Tokyo."
Caught in her lie, Saint-King Halo blushed. "Don't talk back to a first-class trainer! Anyway, let's start running! The first one to that end is the winner!"
Unfortunately, before Saint-King Halo could escape with her excuse, Celestial Weave grabbed her shoulder. "We should stretch before we train."
Faced with Celestial Weave's sharp gaze, Saint-King Halo could only look away and mumble, "S-should we? Oh, right, right!"
But before she could gloss over it with a few stretches, Celestial Weave grabbed her again, her gaze knowing. "Sister... you don't actually know how to train, do you..."
Saint-King Halo, who had impulsively taken on this great responsibility to impress her sister, could only blush and continue to bluff. "H-how is that possible! If I didn't know how to train, how could I be faster than you, Yume!"
"This is all thanks to my sweat and hard work!"
Celestial Weave looked at her clumsy words and sighed inwardly.
This is the first time I've had a talented horse girl for a sister, and we're both elementary schoolers. How did two good things combined turn into this?
After a long silence, Celestial Weave held Saint-King Halo's shoulders and said slowly, "Let me lead the way."
