Chapter 1 - First step to th of magic

Silver hair flowed behind the young girl like a river of moonlight as she sprinted through the forest. Her ruby red eyes sparkled with determination. The small backpack on her shoulders contained a day's worth of provisions, the only supplies she would be able to take on her journey. She was headed for the nearest city, a two-day hike away. There, she hoped to find the opportunity to pursue her dream of becoming a mage. It wouldn't be easy; she knew that. But she was determined to succeed.

Her name was Silvia. She was 15 years old and had spent her entire life in a small, secluded village. But now she was leaving it all behind to follow her heart and pursue her dream. The village had been her home for as long as she could remember. It was a peaceful place, surrounded by a dense forest and rolling hills. The villagers lived simple lives, farming the land, hunting, and gathering to make ends meet. It was a good life, but not for Silvia.

As she ran through the forest, she felt a mix of excitement and fear. The unknown lay ahead, and she wondered what awaited her. But one thing was certain – she would give it her all and make her dream a reality.

After two days of hiking, Silvia finally reached the outskirts of a small city. Her legs were sore, and her body was tired, but she was filled with excitement and anticipation. The city was a hub of activity, bustling with people from all walks of life. The sounds and smells were overwhelming, but Silvia was determined to push forward. She had come too far to turn back now.

She walked through the streets, marveling at the towering buildings and busy streets. People of all shapes and sizes hurried about their business, seemingly oblivious to her presence. Silvia felt out of place, but she was determined to make a name for herself in this new world.

Her first stop was an inn, where she hoped to find a place to rest and plan her next move. She entered the building, her eyes adjusting to the dim light inside. The room was filled with people, laughing and chatting over drinks. Silvia approached the bar, her heart pounding in her chest. She had never been in a place like this before, and she felt nervous and out of her element.

"Excuse me," she said, trying to get the bartender's attention. "I'm looking for a room for the night."

The man behind the counter looked her up and down before responding. "We have rooms available. It'll be 10 silvers for the night."

Silvia reached into her backpack and pulled out a small pouch of coins. She handed it to the man, who took it and counted out 10 silvers. He handed her a key and pointed to a staircase at the back of the room. "Your room is up there, second door on the left."

"Thank you," Silvia said, taking the key and making her way up the stairs. She found her room and unlocked the door. Inside, there was a small bed, a dresser, and a window overlooking the street below. Silvia dropped her backpack on the floor and sat down on the bed. She had made it to the city, but now she had to figure out her next move.

She decided to take a short rest before venturing out again. It had been a long journey, and she needed to recharge. As she lay on the bed, she thought about her future and what she hoped to achieve. She wanted to become a mage, but she knew it wouldn't be easy. She would have to work hard and study even harder if she was going to succeed. But she was determined. She would do whatever it took to make her dream a reality.

The next morning, Silvia woke up early, feeling refreshed and ready to tackle the day. She got dressed and made her way downstairs to the common room. The inn was quiet, with only a few patrons scattered about. Silvia approached the bar and asked the bartender for directions to the city's mage academy.

"The academy?" he repeated, raising an eyebrow. "That's for nobles and the wealthy. What business do you have there?"

Silvia felt a surge of annoyance. Why did everyone assume she wasn't capable of becoming a mage just because she was from a village? She straightened her back and looked the man in the eye. "I want to enroll," she said firmly. "Can you tell me where it is?"

The bartender studied her for a moment before responding. "It's on the other side of the city. Head down this street and take a right at the fountain. You can't miss it."

"Thank you," Silvia replied, turning to leave.

"Hey," the bartender called out, stopping her in her tracks. "Be careful out there. The academy is no place for a village girl like you."

Silvia nodded and left the inn. She followed the bartender's directions, marveling at the sights and sounds of the city as she walked. After a 30-minute walk, she saw a large building in the distance. It was made of white stone and had tall spires that seemed to touch the sky. Silvia quickened her pace, eager to reach her destination.

As she approached the building, she noticed a group of people gathered near the entrance. They were all dressed in fancy clothing, and they looked at her with curiosity and disdain. Silvia felt a pang of nervousness, but she steeled herself and approached the group.

"I'm here to enroll," she announced, looking around at the crowd.

A boy with blond hair and blue eyes stepped forward. "Enroll?" he repeated, sneering at her. "You think you can just waltz in here and enroll? Do you have any idea how exclusive this academy is?"

Silvia felt her face grow hot with anger, but she kept her composure. "Yes," she replied, meeting the boy's gaze. "I know it's exclusive, but I want to enroll anyway. Can you tell me where to go?"

The boy laughed, and the others joined in. Silvia felt her anger rising, but before she could respond, a woman approached the group. She had long, flowing silver hair and piercing green eyes. She was dressed in a white robe that seemed to glow in the sunlight. She looked at Silvia with interest before turning to the boy who had spoken.

"Is there a problem here?" she asked, her voice firm but controlled.

The boy looked taken aback by the woman's sudden appearance. "No, ma'am," he stuttered. "This girl just wants to enroll, but… well, look at her. She's obviously not qualified."

The woman turned her attention back to Silvia. "And what makes you think you're qualified to enroll here?" she asked.

Silvia stood up straight and looked the woman in the eye. "My name is Silvia," she began. "I'm from a small village on the outskirts of the kingdom. I've always dreamed of becoming a mage, and I've come here to make that dream a reality. I know it won't be easy, but I'm willing to work hard and do whatever it takes to succeed."

The woman studied Silvia for a long moment before responding. "I see," she said. "Well, Silvia, it's true that this academy is exclusive. We only accept students who show exceptional magical talent. But I admire your determination. Tell me, have you ever used magic before?"

Silvia thought back to her childhood. She had always felt like there was something different about her, but she had never been able to use magic. "No," she admitted. "I've never used magic before."

The woman nodded. "I see. In that case, I'm afraid you won't be able to enroll here. As I said, we only accept students with exceptional magical talent, and if you've never used magic before, I'm afraid you don't qualify."

Silvia felt her heart sink, but she refused to give up. "Is there any way I can prove myself?" she asked, desperation creeping into her voice. "I'll do anything for a chance to learn magic."

The woman looked at her with sympathy. "I understand your desire to learn magic, Silvia. But the rules are in place for a reason. If you've never used magic before, it's unlikely that you have the talent required to succeed here."

Silvia felt tears pricking at the corners of her eyes, but she blinked them away. She wouldn't give up. Not yet. "Please," she said, her voice shaking. "I'll do anything. Just give me a chance."

The woman sighed, clearly moved by Silvia's determination. "Alright," she said finally. "I'll give you a chance. But you have to prove yourself to me. If you can show me that you have magical talent, I'll allow you to enroll."

Silvia's heart leapt with hope. "Thank you," she exclaimed, bowing low. "I won't let you down."

The woman smiled slightly. "We'll see about that," she said. She turned and walked towards the academy entrance, gesturing for Silvia to follow. "Come with me," she called over her shoulder.

Silvia followed the woman into the academy building. Inside, it was just as impressive as the exterior. The floors were made of polished marble, and the walls were lined with intricate carvings. Silvia couldn't believe she was actually inside the prestigious mage academy. She had dreamed of this moment for so long, and now it was finally happening.

The woman led Silvia down a long hallway and into a large room. The room was circular, with a high domed ceiling. The walls were lined with bookshelves, and there were several large tables in the center of the room.

"Take a seat," the woman instructed, gesturing to one of the tables.

Silvia sat down, her heart racing with anticipation. The woman sat down across from her and placed a small crystal ball on the table.

"Do you know what this is?" she asked Silvia.

Silvia shook her head. "No."

"This is a mana crystal," the woman explained. "It's used to measure magical talent. I want you to place your hand on the crystal and focus your energy. If you have enough magical talent, the crystal will glow."

Silvia looked at the crystal uncertainly. She had never done anything like this before, and she wasn't sure if she was capable of making it glow. But she was determined to try. She placed her hand on the crystal and closed her eyes, focusing all her energy on the small orb.

At first, nothing happened. But then, to Silvia's amazement, the crystal began to glow. It started as a small spark, but quickly grew into a bright light. Silvia opened her eyes and gasped in shock. She was doing it! She was actually making the crystal glow!

The woman watched with interest as the crystal continued to glow brightly. After a moment, she reached out and removed Silvia's hand from the crystal. The glow immediately faded, but Silvia could still feel the energy coursing through her veins. She had done it. She had actually used magic!

The woman looked at Silvia with a newfound respect. "Well, I'll be," she said. "You actually have quite a bit of magical talent. I apologize for doubting you earlier."

Silvia beamed with pride. "So, does this mean I can enroll?" she asked hopefully.

The woman nodded. "Yes, it does. Welcome to the academy, Silvia. I'm Professor Lillian, by the way. I'll be your magic theory professor."

Silvia grinned broadly. "Thank you so much, Professor Lillian. I promise I'll work hard and make you proud."

Professor Lillian smiled back. "I have no doubt that you will," she said. "Now, let's get you settled in. I'll show you to your room, and then we can get started on your classes."

Silvia couldn't believe it. She had actually made it into the academy! All her hard work and determination had paid off, and now she was one step closer to achieving her dream of becoming a mage.

Professor Lillian led Silvia out of the room and down another long hallway. They stopped in front of a large wooden door, and Professor Lillian pushed it open.

"This is your dorm room," she explained. "You'll be sharing with another student, but don't worry. I think you'll get along just fine."

Silvia stepped into the room and looked around. It was spacious and well lit, with two beds on opposite walls and a large window that looked out over the city. There was also a desk and chair, as well as a bookshelf filled with books on magic.

"It's perfect," Silvia breathed.

Professor Lillian smiled. "I'm glad you like it. Now, let's get started on your classes. I'll be teaching you magic theory, but you'll also have classes on spellcasting, alchemy, and magical creatures. Your schedule will be quite full, so be prepared to study hard."

Silvia nodded eagerly. She couldn't wait to start learning everything there was to know about magic. She had dreamed about this for so long, and now that dream was finally coming true.

"Great," Professor Lillian said, smiling at Silvia's enthusiasm. "I'll let you get settled in, and then we can begin your first class. Just come to my office when you're ready."

"Okay," Silvia replied. "Thank you again for giving me this opportunity. I won't let you down."

Professor Lillian left the room, leaving Silvia alone to unpack and get settled. Silvia sat down on her bed and looked around the room again. She still couldn't believe she was actually here. It felt like a dream, but she knew it was real.

She was finally on her way to becoming a mage.
