The night sky cracked like glass.
It began as a single line of white, stretching across the heavens above Olori City. At first, people thought it was lightning frozen in place, an odd trick of nature. But when the line deepened, splitting the moon into two fractured halves, the world fell silent.
Seventeen-year-old Eren Kalu sat on the rooftop of his mother's bookstore, a worn physics textbook open beside him. His eyes weren't on the pages. They were fixed on the rift that shimmered above, humming with a sound no one else seemed to hear.
Ba-dum.
His chest tightened. The sound pulsed inside him, in rhythm with his heartbeat.
"Not again…" he muttered, clutching his wrist.
For years, Eren had been plagued by strange dreams — falling endlessly into a void filled with shadows, whispers calling his name, and a hand always reaching out just before he woke. But now, as he stared at the fractured sky, the dream was bleeding into reality.
Below, the city streets erupted in chaos. Cars screeched, sirens wailed, and people screamed as shards of light rained down like burning feathers. When one hit the ground near the marketplace, the earth trembled. From the crater rose a figure draped in darkness, its body flickering as if it was stitched from smoke.
Eren's breathing stopped.
The figure raised its head, and where eyes should have been were endless spirals — voids that pulled at his very soul.
A whisper crawled into his mind.
"Voidwalker… awaken."
The textbook slipped from his hands. His body moved on its own, pulling him to his feet. His right arm burned, symbols etching themselves across his skin like molten fire.
"No… no, not me," Eren gasped, stumbling backward. But the shadows below were already looking for him. They knew.
From the far edge of the city, an explosion of silver light erupted, cutting through the darkness. Standing in the center of the blast was a girl — tall, with hair that glowed faintly like starlight and a blade in her hand that shimmered as if forged from galaxies themselves.
Her eyes locked on his rooftop.
"There you are," she said, her voice carrying over the wind. "The last Voidwalker."
The world around Eren froze. His heart thundered in his chest.
Because in that single moment, his ordinary life ended…
and the age of Voidwalkers began.
