Elena is at the royal cemetery surrounded by large tombstones and the ghosts of the royals who are buried here. Well, she can't see the ghosts, but she knows not all the royals who died went to Paradise; she knows some still linger around because they either died a premature death or they have unfinished business.
She doesn't really know, but it's a cool concept to think about.
She stands before her parents' tombstones, looking down at them with tears in her eyes; she doesn't know why she's crying. She should be happy that she has powers; this is all she's ever wanted all her life, even though she pretended not to care.
It's all so overwhelming; she doesn't just have powers, she has the strongest power on earth. And she's destined to kill some powerful wizard or witch who is out there getting ready to destroy her or the world? She doesn't know; it's all too much for her.
How did she go from being the fairy royal who didn't have powers or wings to the most powerful fairy in the world? She's beginning to think she's better off without powers; at least there won't be such a huge responsibility put on her hands.
She doesn't like crying; she believes party girls shouldn't cry, life should be full of life and happiness, not caring about what others think. Even if you're sad, you should dance anyway.
That's the purpose of being a party girl, not to let sadness ruin your day. She tried to keep it all in, but she couldn't. So she just stands there with tears in her eyes looking at her parents' graves as if she looks harder than they'd come out of the ground.
She usually comes here to tell her parents about her day, that's when she's on holiday. She never cries because she knows her parents wouldn't want her to. But today is different. And for once, she just wishes they were here to console her. She doesn't need anything else.
"Hey, Mom, hey, Dad. So I just found out I have powers. The power of the shining sun," she scoffs. "It still feels surreal, honestly. I still cannot believe I have these powers. I thought I was born to be nothing, I thought I was nothing."
"You will never be nothing." A voice makes her whip her head to the side, and she sees her uncle standing next to her. You are Princess Elena Victoria Baron-Grant, the future Queen of England. You will never be nothing. You are everything. The princess who wields so much power. You are destined for greatness."
Her uncle begins to clean the tears from her cheeks with his fingers.
"I just can't believe this is all happening."
"Oh, better believe it, sweetie. Just think of it, all the people who made fun of you probably feel stupid right now." Elena laughs, and so does her uncle.
"I wish I could see the look on Anastasia's face when she found out the news," she says with a smirk on her face. Her ex-best friend is her number one hater.
"She definitely will feel stupid. And you have every right to rub it in her icy bitchy face." Elena looks at her uncle in shock.
"Uncle Conrad!" she nudges his hand, and they're laughing. "Well, you are right," she says.
"I always am," he says, nodding his head as they look at the graveyard. His brother is in the ground, and it's so strange because it felt like his brother would live in this world forever; that was why he never cared or feared that he would one day be king.
But death doesn't care what or who you are, even if you're a royal.
"I'm really sorry for keeping this from you, kid. I wasn't allowed to tell you; you were meant to find out about it on your own."
"It's fine, I'm not really angry at all. It was all just too much."
"Yeah, sorry about Gerald. He's an impatient old man who doesn't like to waste time." They stay there quietly, surrounded by the autumn trees and blessed by the autumn wind. The cemetery is so quiet, a good place to just stay and think…that's if there weren't dead people around the area.
"Come here, kid." Uncle Conrad hugs Elena, and Elena hugs her uncle back. A tight embrace that calms her down at once, she loves her uncle. She has always seen him as more of a dad to her than an uncle, maybe because she raised her.
He's never judged her; he has gotten angry with her for the dumb things she's done, but would always acknowledge that she's still a kid, so he doesn't stay angry with her for long. He's her biggest protector.
But now that she knows she's a powerful fairy, she's going to do her best to study and understand her powers.
She's going to be the one doing the protecting.
"Now come on, let's go have breakfast, then after breakfast you're going to go back to school."
"What?" Elena leaves her uncle's embrace and looks at him, disappointed. "Oh, come on, can't I just stay today and go tomorrow?"
"Headmistress Cassandra is pissed." Uncle Conrad confirms.
"Well, yes, I know. I did sneak off the school premises to go party at a club, and I almost got killed by vampires."
"Well, sorry, kid, you shouldn't have snuck out of the school."
Elena groans.
"Alright, come on, let's go have some breakfast. Your favourite cakes are waiting for you." Uncle Conrad puts his arms around his niece's shoulders, and they find their way out of the royal cemetery."
They head straight to the royal garden, where the royals have breakfast every morning. A hundred years ago, there was no garden; in fact, royals would eat inside most of the time. They would eat inside. But it wasn't until Princess Katherine II suggested creating a garden in their backyard.
The garden should be filled with flowers, trees, fountains, and every morning she and her family would eat outside to enjoy the morning sun.
Her father, King Edward III, agreed, and the garden was born.
The garden is filled with different whimsical flowers, roses, tulips, sun sunflowers. There are lots of trees, including normal and fruit trees. Henry, Elena and Alex would attempt to climb the trees well. Henry and Elena would try to climb those trees, but Alex would climb the trees with ease. Because he's an elf and it's easy for them.
The dining table sits in the middle of the garden, and there are loads of food on the mahogany table, which is covered by a silk cloth.
The whole family's seated there except Henry because he's a good boy who stays at school.
"Good morning, family," Elena says to them.
"ELENA!" Her little cousins, Billy and Benedict, run toward her and hug her. Two golden blond boys who are eight years old. They're the children of Aunt Imogen and Uncle Benjamin.
Aun Imogen is Uncle Conrad's younger sister; she married a duke, and Elena wonders how because Aunt Imogen and Uncle Benjamin are opposites.
Aunt Imogen is a cool badass chick who will always be remembered for her black outfits, smooth personality and her cigarettes. She has one in her mouth right now. Her husband, on the other hand, always has a frown on his face, and he always has his nose stuck in a newspaper.
The cover of the newspaper has her face on it. Because, of course it is she should be used to it by now.
"Good morning, my love." Aunt Stella, Henry's mom and Uncle Conrad's wife say to her with a smile on their faces.
She's gentle, and she's like a mother to her. She and her uncle are also opposites. But theirs is reasonable. They met when they were teens. While Conrad was the wild party boy, her Aunt Stella was a quiet, good girl who always had books in her hands.
The royal golden retrievers say hi to her as well. She pets the three dogs, and they lick her on the face.
This is her family.
She stands up and sees both Alex and Pierre sitting at the table; Alex still has his eyes on Elena. She goes over to him and sits next to Alex.
"Dude, are you okay?"
"Yeah, I am now," she puts on a small smile on her face, and Alex's smile is wider, and he barely smiles as he only smiles when Elena is around.
"I'm so glad you're okay, Elena," Pierre says in his French accent. A shocked Elena nods her head, also trying her best not to look shocked.
"Why, thank you, Pierre," she says. Pierre nods, and he puts his focus back on the food before him.
Both Alex and Elena share a stare, and they laugh silently to themselves. Elena smiles at her family members, then she packs a whole bunch of strawberry cakes on her plate.
