Elena stands in front of her full-length mirror wearing her school uniform.
She's in a yellow shirt which has the school's badge on the right side of her uniform, A crown and two swords behind it. Her sleeves are rolled up, a black and gold tie which is hung loosely from her neck, a pleated skirt accented with gold-lined detail, black tights and black leather boots. Her shirt is also not tucked into her skirt.
The way she dresses just shows what kind of person she is. A free-spirited, rebellious girl who doesn't care about the rules. A lot of people see her, and they look at her with so much admiration because they want to be her.
But then some people look at her and shake their heads at how she could be a princess and the possible Queen of England.
She doesn't care. She's just going to be herself.
She's no longer going to be the rebellious princess without powers; she's now going to be the rebellious princess with powers.
She smiles at the thought of it, and she blows herself a kiss, and she walks away from the looking glass.
She cannot wait to see the looks on her haters' faces as soon as she goes back to school, and she can also not wait to ask Pierre out on a date… too soon? Maybe she's just going to flirt with him for a bit, see where it goes.
Life is really starting to be more interesting and fun for her; she likes it.
She heads out of her room and goes outside. Everyone and the limo are waiting for her. Alex and Pierre are also dressed in uniform, but their uniform are different. While fairies wear the golden and navy blue uniform. The elves' uniforms are all black.
A padded, armoured vest with a geometric design across the chest, and a black long-sleeve shirt under the vest, keeping the silhouette streamlined.
Underneath, black tactical cargo pants with buttoned pockets on the thighs, built for function and movement
Basically, a military/special ops inspired-minimalist, practical and tough, while still looking stylish. Their uniform signifies what they stand for and what they're training to be.
You can easily differentiate between a fairy and an elf in Hollow Prep Academy, not just by their uniforms but also by their hair colour…and their ears… and the way they present themselves.
Alex looks good, he always does… but Pierre looks extra hot today. He always does.
"You're ready." Uncle Conrad says, walking toward her. He places his hands on his niece's shoulders, and they're both smiling at each other.
"If you need anything, you can always call us, okay?" Her aunt Stella says to her, and Elena nods her head, then embraces them in a hug.
"I love you guys so much."
"Aww, we love you too, kid." Aunt Stella says, and they release her.
"Always." Uncle Conrad says, placing his hand on her cheek.
Elena moves over to her little cousins, who are dressed in their uniforms, ready to go to school as well. They go to Hollow Prep Primary School, and they look so cute in their navy blue shorts and long socks.
"We're going to miss you, Elena."
"I'm going to miss you too. But I'll be back soon, you guys better not have too much fun around here without me."
"Never!" the twins say in unison. She hugs both of them. She walks over to her Aunt Imogen, who blows smoke out of her mouth before hugging her niece.
"You stay sexy, my dear." She leaves Elena's embrace and then winks at her.
"You know I will, Aunty."
"That's my girl," she says, smiling, shaking her niece. Then Elena walks over to Uncle Benjamin and shakes his hand, because that is what he prefers, a more formal greeting.
"You'll do good, my girl."
"Thank you, Uncle," she says and then drops his hand. She walks over to Sylvie, who's a fairy, but she acts like an elf with the way she stands at attention like that. Elena doesn't think she'll get over what Sylvie said to her earlier; she's not going to let her forget it.
"Good luck out there," Sylvie says, keeping the frown on her face intact.
Elena smiles at how stubborn she is. "Thank you, Sylvie." She knows Sylvie doesn't do hugs, so she just walks away from her and heads straight for the limo. And when Elena isn't looking, a small smile forms on Sylvie's face.
Elena sits by the window facing both Alex and Pierre. She tries her best not to look at Pierre for too long, or maybe she should let him know that she's interested. He's so fucking hot.
The limo moves forward and drives off, away from the palace.
To Hollow Prep Academy they go.
The people of London go about their day. Some use different modes of transportation, some use carriages, horses and cars, some are flying in the air with their wings out. Elena looks up at the fairies flying, admiring them and their beautiful wings. Does she have wings, too? If she has powers now, she's going to have wings, right?
Sometimes she would go to the meadow to watch the fairies fly in the sky; some would make fun of her for not having wings, but she'd still compliment them and their wings.
She just wants to fly high and be free.
The world of Europe is ruled by fairies. Every country is ruled by a fairy king or a fairy queen. This continent was created by the Helanic and Vanir Gods. It's one of the oldest continents, Africa is first, and it was created by the Orishas and the Netjeru.
Fairies cannot go to Africa. If they do, they'll die because their environment is toxic to fairies. Africa is ruled by charmcasters, and they also cannot walk into Europe, for they will die.
The Gods who created this world divided themselves and made it in such a way that they don't intervene in each other's affairs.
Elena can only wonder what the other continents are like, but she just cannot walk into any of them, or she will perish. But since she's powerful, does that make her indestructible?
They drive down the streets of London, and different magical creatures go about their day, fairies, pixies, goblins, and unicorns on the streets.
The creatures of darkness dare not show their faces around here, or else they get killed or arrested.
They are banned from being around normal civilians. They're a menace, and they're hated by many.
Witches, ogres, trolls, sirens, vampires… they're all evil as fuck. And Elena doesn't want to see vampires ever again. She touches her neck, and she feels disgusted. She's never letting vampires touch her again.
She has the power to destroy vampires and witches, so she's not really afraid.
But the thing is… she doesn't remember using her superpowers. At all. She's sure she will learn how to use her powers. She knows she will.
"Chocolates," Alex says, packing the candy that's in the limo. There are loads of them in here; there's even a wine, but Elena is not going to be picking it up because she's not in the mood.
"Pierre, how are you?" she asks, and Pierre looks at her with a little crease on his brow.
Alex gives her a warning look, telling her to stop, but he knows there's no point because his crazy best friend is also stubborn.
"I'm good. I can't complain."
"Oh, cool, so how's Anastasia?"
And she has done it.
His face drops, and a little sadness creeps up on him.
"I don't know, we-we broke up."
"You guys broke up? Oh no!"
Alex looks away with a smile on his face. He tries hard not to laugh, but he does shake his head because he knows his friend is crazy.
"I'm so sorry." She says.
"Thanks," he says, and Elena looks at Alex, who shakes her head at her. Then Elena breathes out, looking out at the fall season that has fallen upon them.
Everyone's wearing their jackets, sweaters and scarves because of how cold it is.
They drive past a golden statue of a woman holding a sword and a shield. Princess Katherine III Baron-Grant was the first princess to lead in a war and which reason why they give the throne to the eldest child and not the eldest son.
If Elena were alive in the past, she would not be Queen; either King Conrad would stay king, or Henry would be king. And Henry would do a better job at ruling than she will. She knows for a fact.
A lot of people, especially misogynistic men who want things to go back to the way they are, are currently plotting on how to get things back to "normal"
There's a movement on social media created by such people.
Uncle Conrad calls them pathetic clowns.
And even though Elena thinks her uncle and her cousin would do better than her when it comes to ruling the kingdom, she thinks they're pathetic as well.
They're no longer in the city; now they're surrounded by colourful autumn trees. Pixies who live in the trees fly around them.
Which just means they're closer to the academy.
Oh dear.
Elena is in trouble for sure.
The academy is straight ahead now, and they pass the sign that says "Welcome to Hollow Prep Academy, created in 1678"
The limo stops in front of the silver gate, the gate opens up, and the limo drives in.
