The limo stops in front of the school block, and Elena sighs before opening the door, but someone else opens it for her. She sees that the person who opened the door is Pierre. She looks at the space Pierre left, and she sees neither Pierre nor Alex is there.
"Bloody hell, they're so fast," she mutters to herself. They are elves after all. So they're supposed to be fast.
She steps down from the limo, and she thanks Pierre, who gives her a nice smile. He's such a gentleman, she thinks; she doesn't understand how someone as nice and calm as he ended up with someone as ruthless and as evil as Anastasia.
"Oh, Elena." Mrs Susan Lancaster, the house mother, calls for Elena's name, running toward her and embracing her in a hug. "I was so worried about you," she says, squeezing the life out of her, and she's a petite woman in a blue and white polka dot dress.
Her blonde hair is wrapped up in a bun like always. And she smells like daffodils, like always. She acts like a mom to her, well, she acts like a mom to everyone. She is a house mother after all. Behind her is Mr Victor Volkov, the house father.
He has long white hair, dark brown eyes, a scar across his eye and a frown on his face. He doesn't bother to walk over to Elena, not that he hates Elena; he hates everyone, and people are scared of him. Some people have said that he put that scar on his eye on his own so people will be more scared of him.
Elena and people who aren't hell bent on spreading or engaging with rumours know what really happened. And they know he got that scar because a gryphon did that to him. Sad really.
Mrs Susan looks back at Mr Volkov, and she smiles back at Elena. "He's happy to see you, too; he just doesn't know how to show it."
"Mhmm." Elena simply murmurs.
"Come, Headmistress Cassandra would love to see you." She gestures for Elena to follow her into the school block. "I'm so proud of you two." Mrs Susan says to Alex and Pierre before walking into the school.
The outside looks more like a castle than a school. A water fountain up front, the flags of all the countries arranged in order. The school is old, but obviously, it keeps getting new renovations every six years.
But the school has a whole ass lore. Some people have died here, some through suicide, some through attacks from the creatures of darkness. This school is where Elena's parents fell in love.
She also wants to have a secondary school sweetheart. In the meantime, she's going to focus on her newfound powers, and the thought is both exciting and nerve-racking at the same time.
She dives inside the school, and the students are walking by, heading for classes. Some stop to stare at Elena, some of them look at her as they walk by, not caring if they're going to bump into anyone while their eyes are on her.
Elena has always been popular for the wrong reasons, but now she's popular for the right ones, and she's not gonna lie, it's a bit exciting.
She heads straight to Headmistress Cassandra's office, but before she gets there, she walks past Nellie, the gnome secretary who always scowls at her the same way Mr Volkov does.
"Hey, Nellie. Love your glass skin." Elena tells her.
"Haha, very funny," Nellie says dryly, still engrossed in her work. Alex and Pierre laugh.
Mrs Susan knocks on the door.
"Come in." She says. Then she opens the door and they walk in. Mrs Cassandra is on the phone talking to someone in a serious tone; she doesn't look happy.
"I'll leave you kids to it." Mrs Susan says, and Elena didn't want her to leave because she knows Mrs Susan will try to calm Headmistress Cassandra down.
Headmistress Cassandra Blazevic is a strong woman in her forties. She's tall, has vibrant red hair and jade green eyes. She's dressed like a strong, independent woman. Her whole office looks like that of a man's. People will think Hollow Prep Academy is run by a man and not a woman.
Elena loves her because of how badass she is, but is also scared of her because of how scary she is. She's already thought of every line she's going to use to make Headmistress Cassandra cool down.
"Alright, no problem, I'll talk to him later. Okay." Headmistress Cassandra places the phone down, and she curses in Croatian. Then she looks at Elena. Elena doesn't waste time.
"Headmistress Cassandra, I am so sorry that I snuck out of the school. I-it will never happen again. I swe-"
"Oh my dear." Headmistress Cassandra walks up to Elena and hugs her. Elena's surprised, and so are Alex and Pierre; they face each other, shocked at the sudden embrace their Headmistress has given Elena.
"I'm just so happy that you're okay, my dear." She plays with her hair. "Please, you guys sit," she says, and the Headmistress sits at the table. Elena moves over to the chair slowly.
"You're not-you're not mad?"
Headmistress Cassandra waves her off. "Nonsense. I mean, I was angry at first, but when I heard that you got attacked by vampires, I was scared for you. You know I care about all my students, even the ones who give me a headache." Headmistress Cassandra smiles when she says the last part, and the smile is creepy as fuck.
"When I heard that Alex and Pierre saved you from the vampires, I was proud because I trust my amazing students. Well done, boys." She says to both Alex and Pierre, and they nod proudly.
"But I was also shocked when I heard you saved them as well with your powers. You are the most powerful fairy in the whole world. I have a powerful fairy in my school," she laughs. "In your face, Wales and Scotland."
Hollow Prep Academy isn't just in England, but also located in Wales and Scotland, and the Headmistress has had a weird feud with them for the longest time. Well, they have also had feuds with her.
"Don't worry, you are going to be guided on how to use your powers. Your uncle sent someone to help you. Uh…" her face falls, and she walks over to her desk and picks up the telephone. "Send her in," she orders, then her smile comes back on.
Then she sits down at her desk once again. The door swings open, and someone stumbles in.
"Oh, so sorry. I'm sorry," she laughs like she's drunk, but she's not drunk. She looks so… scattered and disorganised. Is this who is going to help her control the shining sun? She actually is.
She is a light fairy, but how does someone like this help her?
Elena isn't the one to judge a book by its cover, but when it comes to wielding something so powerful, she is going to judge her.
Headmistress Cassandra looks her up and down; unlike other people, she doesn't hide the fact that she's judging you. She judges you in your face. And she will let you know that she is judging you.
"Huh, Elena dear, this is Ms Lily Artino, she will be your tutor." Headmistress Cassandra says proudly.
"Hello," the woman with the scattered blond hair says in a Greek accent, waving. Elena waves back.
"Hi."
"Wow, you're even more beautiful in person," she says, and Elena thanks her.
"I'm sorry, what kind of light fairy are you?" Elena asks her because she knows that she's not a sun fairy. Elena is the only one.
"Oh, star fairy." She waggles her fingers, and magical sparkling stars float on top of them.
Wow, not even a lightning or moon fairy but a fucking star fairy.
Don't judge
Don't judge
Don't judge. That's not who you are.
She just doesn't want to fuck up and be a walking embarrassment. She doesn't want to be the first wielder of the shining sun to mess up. She wants to make her family and her parents proud.
She's surprised at herself because she never thought she'd take anything this seriously.
"You and she are going to be having a one-on-one class during magic studies. She's a historian who has studied the past wielders of the shining sun, and your uncle recommended her, so you are in good hands." Headmistress Cassandra says as if reading Elena's mind and seeing how sceptical she is of all this.
"I promise you I will not fail you. I'm very good at what I do." Lily winks at Elena, and Elena nods her head.
All she can think of is the fact that she's finally going to be busy during magic studies. She's not going to be idle while other people are learning how to use their powers. She's not going to be sitting on the bleachers watching the elves train.
She's not going to feel bad because she's the only fairy in the world who doesn't have powers. But now she does have powers, she's the most powerful fairy in the world, and she is going to be having classes, one-on-one classes with a historian who knows more about the shining sun than she does.
She should be excited. She is excited.
"Alright, now that you two have met, you, young lady, should not dare leave the premises again. I do not care if you have so much power or the future Queen of Venus, I will expel you. Got it?" Elena nods her head vigorously. Now that's the Headmistress she knows and loves.
"Now you three get to class, please. Alex and Pierre, well done again. You are my favourite students as usual."
"Always happy to represent the school Headmistress," Alex says, and the two walk out the door. Elena nods her head at Lily, she does the same, and Elena walks out the door. She walks toward Alex and Pierre, who are waiting for her.
"So are you ready?" Alex asks.
"This isn't my first time being stared at, Alex. I'm sure I can cope."
"I was talking about the magic class." Says Alex.
"Oh… well, I have no choice but to be ready. And I don't have magic class until… wow, third period. Cool, I can do this."
Alex places his hand on his best friend's shoulders. "You can do this."
"Thanks."
And the three head straight to class.
