Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: First Meeting with Klein

Roger roughly estimated that the current timing should be the stage when Klein was preparing to join the Tingen City Nighthawks team as clerical staff.

He put down his leather bag, sat on a bench across the street, then while flipping through the "Tingen City Honest Man Newspaper" he had just bought, used his eyes to observe the main entrance of "Blackthorn Security Company" across the street.

Such ordinary behavior attracted the attention of many passersby along the way.

The passive characteristics of Show-off... Roger secretly curled his lips. Although his transmigrated self indeed had a good-looking, thin, and handsome appearance, he didn't mind those beautiful young ladies and girls looking at him more. But this "attention-attracting" characteristic seemed to be an all-ages killer. Not only ordinary citizens of all age groups, but even those somewhat fierce-looking thugs and gang members couldn't suppress their impulse to come up and cause trouble or rob.

Roger's mouth twitched slightly. As a Beyonder, he wasn't afraid, but rather looked forward to what these people would think if they knew the police station's Seventh Division headquarters was right across the street.

Just as he turned the newspaper to the "Tingen Celebrity Anecdotes" section, the main entrance of "Blackthorn Security Company" across the street finally opened. A young man with black hair, brown eyes, medium build, thin physique, and obvious scholarly air walked out.

This young man was the former Zhou Mingrui, now Klein Moretti. He wore cheap clothing but had light steps and a quite pleasant expression. From this, Roger judged that Klein should have just gotten the advance salary specially approved by Captain Dunn from Mrs. Orianna and was preparing to take his family to change houses and improve their living conditions.

Roger folded the newspaper, picked up his bag, pressed the brim of his wide-brimmed hat, and quickly walked up to Klein. This abnormal behavior naturally attracted the other party's attention. Klein instinctively stepped back and looked at him warily.

"Excuse me, is there something you need?"

Roger showed an enthusiastic smile and drew a dark holy symbol on his chest. "Praise the Goddess!" Then he continued, "This respectable gentleman, good morning. I wonder if you would be interested in supporting the work of our Tingen City Stray Cat Protection Association? For just one penny, a cat can have a full meal."

Tingen City Stray Cat Protection Association? What the hell? Klein frowned. He couldn't think of any such association in Tingen City at all. It must be a money scam!

He had just gotten a generous salary and immediately someone came asking for money. He found it hard not to suspect this was some new fraud method.

"Sorry, I'm not interested." Klein shook his head and turned to leave, but was stopped by Roger.

"Sir, don't be hasty. My family has passed down a saying: 'As long as everyone gives a little love, the world will become more beautiful.' If you don't mind, may I briefly introduce our association's mission and operating mechanism?"

Klein had already been somewhat impatient, but hearing Roger's first sentence, he was slightly stunned and showed a confused expression. This seemed like lyrics from a certain song on Earth?

Seeing the other party stop, Roger told Klein all about the operating methods and missions of animal rescue centers he had seen in his previous life. In the era of the mysterious world, these ideas were very advanced and highly feasible.

Klein was originally a cat lover, and his vision far exceeded that of people of the same era—he had even directly promoted the modernization of the entire Rune Kingdom's civil service examination system. At this time, he naturally listened with bright eyes, nodding repeatedly, obviously very convinced.

In the end, he actually took out a penny coin and handed it to Roger.

"Praise the Goddess, your association's thinking is very advanced. I hope you can do better and better." Then he nodded and quickly left amid Roger's thanks.

Getting money from the God of Poverty's hands—this is definitely an unprecedented achievement.

Having divination abilities, he could naturally track Klein's location through the coin stained with Klein's aura. The current Klein had not yet become a Beyonder and had not yet mastered anti-divination abilities, meaning Roger could easily find the other party.

After all, he was the future Lord of Mysteries with fortune far beyond ordinary people. Most people who became friends with Klein eventually got good rewards. Taking advantage of this time, he could often "encounter" Klein by chance and deepen their relationship. Maybe he could even join the Tarot Club like Leonard.

Watching Klein leave, Roger nodded slightly and walked in the opposite direction. He found an inn and rented a weekly room, had breakfast, then went out again, taking a trackless horse carriage to near the "Divination Club."

Roger wanted to become a registered diviner. The primary purpose was to deepen contact with Klein. According to the plot development, the latter would definitely come to the divination club for part-time work—this was a good opportunity.

On the other hand, he hoped to make contact with Hanass Vincent. This well-known diviner in Tingen City had a little-known true identity as a member of the Aurora Order, a believer of the "True Creator."

The Aurora Order had inseparable connections with both the True Creator's divine son descent and the Antigonus family notebook mysterious events, being the greatest destabilizing factor in Tingen City. Especially the former, which even had Ince Zangwill and Sealed Artifact 0-08's manipulation lurking behind it.

Earlier, Amon had Roger come into contact with the Aurora Order, very likely because he discovered his peculiarity and with a mind for watching excitement, wanted to see what different ripples such a variable could stir up in Tingen City.

But whether Amon or the Aurora Order, both were existences Roger currently couldn't afford to provoke. Since he couldn't afford to provoke either side, why not just join both?

Today's goal was to embrace this new big leg of the "Aurora Order"! As the subordinate of the Ancient Sun God's son, his seniority was much higher than those divine envoys and saints of the Aurora Order. Although currently he couldn't beat any of them...

"We've arrived." Roger looked at the divination club's sign, stepped inside, and came to the second-floor reception.

"Hello sir, are you here for divination or to join our club? The membership fee is only 5 pounds."

A pretty lady with brown-yellow hair piled high spoke warmly.

I naturally won't pay the club membership fee... Roger thought secretly, shook his head, then said, "Miss, I'm here to make money."

The pretty lady across from him was stunned, seemingly not expecting the other party to be so frank.

"You want to register as the club's rotating diviner?" she asked back.

After getting Roger's affirmative answer, the other party was also straightforward, directly taking out a questionnaire and asking about his specialties and expected divination fees.

"Which of your diviners is the most expensive?" Roger asked back.

"That would naturally be Mr. Hanass Vincent, Tingen's famous diviner, a resident instructor at the club, skilled in various forms of divination, charging 4 soli each time."

"Not bad, just like that." Roger nodded satisfactorily and responded.

"You also want 4 soli? Are you sure your level can compare with Mr. Vincent?" The receptionist was quite surprised, suspecting she had heard wrong. After all, the other party's face looked unfamiliar, not seeming to be among the long-established diviners.

"No, I want to charge twice what Vincent charges." Roger's smile was exceptionally brilliant.
