Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Rivalries and Alliances

Although Statiw Att had successfully joined the Fairy Tail Guild, he did not immediately go to the mission request board to look for tasks to perform. Instead, he sat at a nearby table and began to carefully examine the Pict Magic his unique power had latched onto.

After all, it was a replication, not a direct copy. It was possible that the Pict Magic he gained was different from the other Mage's. With this thought, Statiw immersed his consciousness into his mind and began to examine the specific details of his power. Sure enough, things were as he had expected; the Pict Magic he gained was different.

The other Mage's Pict Magic allowed drawings to move, but it was only effective for paintings drawn on himself. Statiw's was different; his Pict Magic could directly make patterns on paper or the ground move. In terms of convenience, it was stronger.

However, where there is strength, there is also weakness.

The other Mage's Pict Magic could turn drawings into physical objects. That is to say, if he drew a kitchen knife, he could materialize it. Statiw's Pict Magic, however, could currently only make drawings move and had no other special features. In this regard, his power was even inferior to the original; at least his could materialize objects to be used as weapons and tools, but his own...

Extremely disheartened, Statiw immediately slumped onto the table, feeling utterly listless and not wanting to move. He already felt somewhat despondent, unsure how he should live his life from now on.

Just as he was feeling incredibly dejected, a hand slammed onto the table in front of him. He looked up blankly to see a girl with white hair, a very cute appearance, but an intimidating, fierce expression, and around his age. Statiw recognized this girl at a glance; she was Mirajane Strauss.

Mirajane withdrew the hand she had slammed on the table, crossed her arms, and threatened with a fierce, menacing look: "Hey, newbie. Are you going to join Team Mirajane or Team Erza?"

"Team Mirajane? Team Erza?" Knowing that the girl in front of him was Mirajane, Statiw certainly wasn't afraid of her fierce expression. He just hadn't yet understood what she meant.

Seeing that Statiw didn't understand her meaning, Mirajane felt very annoyed. She grabbed the collar of Statiw's T-shirt, pulled him close, and was about to say something when another girl with short white hair and a fierce-looking but timid boy beside her started to try and calm her down.

"Hmph, Lisanna, you tell him." Seeing her younger sister and brother trying to calm her down, Mirajane released Statiw's collar, turned her head away with a sour face, and said reluctantly.

Seeing Mirajane release Statiw's collar, Lisanna smiled sweetly and said softly to him, "Hello, I'm Lisanna Strauss. This is my older sister, Mirajane Strauss. I'm sorry, but my sister doesn't mean any harm."

"Hello, Lisanna, Mirajane. I'm Statiw Att. It's fine, I don't mind." Seeing Lisanna introduce herself to him, Statiw quickly introduced himself as well, shaking his head as he spoke.

Seeing Statiw's reaction, Mirajane's previously sour face brightened considerably. She didn't mind Statiw calling her Mirajane directly. Lisanna, seeing that Statiw wasn't angry, pointed to the white-haired, fierce-looking but timid boy and said, "This is my older brother, Elfman Strauss."

"Hello," Elfman quickly greeted softly when his sister introduced him, though his tone also seemed a bit timid.

"Hello, it's nice to meet you, Elfman." Statiw knew Elfman was like this when he was young and didn't mind his demeanor. He simply reached out and patted his shoulder, saying, "You should speak a little louder, a little more confidently. That's how a man should sound."

"Thank you for your suggestion," Elfman nodded happily after hearing Statiw's words. Mirajane also looked at Statiw from head to toe with a surprised expression because of his words.

"You're welcome." Statiw waved his hand at Elfman, then turned back to Lisanna and asked, "What's this about Team Mirajane and Team Erza that Mirajane mentioned earlier?"

"It's because Mirajane and Erza both refuse to lose to each other and want to surpass each other in every aspect, so..." Although Lisanna was young, her logic was very clear. In one sentence, she generally explained the issue of the so-called teams.

As soon as Lisanna finished speaking, Mirajane immediately asked Statiw with a fierce expression, but actually quite nervously, "You understand what Team Mirajane and Team Erza are now, right? Tell me which one you plan to join?"

"Um, Mirajane. Can I ask if there are any benefits to joining Team Mirajane?" Statiw first looked into her eyes and asked cautiously.

"Benefits?" Mirajane was stunned by Statiw's question, not quite understanding what he meant. She asked somewhat confusedly, "What do you mean by benefits?"

Seeing that she didn't quite understand, Statiw immediately explained, "By benefits, I mean, if I join Team Mirajane, if I ever encounter difficulties someday, can I ask you all for some help?"

Although Statiw said this, his true meaning was that because his magic was really not very powerful, he might often need help from others.

And Mirajane? Don't let her young age fool you; she was only twelve or thirteen, but she was already a powerful Mage with incredibly strong combat power. It was precisely because of this that Statiw wanted to give her a heads-up, so that when he needed help later, he could ask for it.

"Huh?" Mirajane didn't know Statiw's thoughts. She looked at him in great surprise, then said with a sympathetic expression, "You're really quite pathetic."

"What?" When Statiw saw her sympathetic expression, it immediately made him feel a bit bewildered, as if he didn't understand what she truly meant.

At this moment, Elfman, who had been quietly standing by, secretly tugged on Statiw's sleeve. When Statiw turned to look at him, he whispered, "In the Guild, everyone is like family. If you have difficulties, any Guild member will do their best to help you."

"Oh, I see. Then I'll join Team Mirajane." After hearing Elfman's words, Statiw immediately understood and said with an embarrassed smile, scratching the back of his head.

"Hmph, that's more like it." Seeing Statiw wisely join her side, Mirajane let out a sigh of relief and showed a satisfied expression.
