Chapter 20 - Chapter 20

After the Tarot gathering ended, Klein got ready and planned to spend the rest of his afternoon in the divination club to digest and act out his potion.

There he met Glacis again, the person he had helped diagnose the lung condition for on his first day here as a customer. The man had miraculously healed due to some magical medicine he had gotten his hands on from a mystical apothecary, and wanted to hire Klein to divine a future investment opportunity for him.

"I have an investment opportunity, but the amount of money it involves is huge. If it fails, my family and I will take a heavy hit. I wish to know if it will be a successful investment." Glacis volunteered the information. "I have divined using tarot cards previously. Hmm, a divination after purifying my soul. The result was pretty good. Yes, I did the interpretation myself, but I did not violate the principles of those symbols."

Klein thought and asked curiously, "It'd be great if you could describe the entire situation once more and give me your information again. It'd be best if you have the other party's information, too. We will do an astrolabe divination."

"Alright." Glacis organized his words and said, "When Mister Lanevus examined the Hornacis mountain range, he discovered a gigantic mine rich in high-quality iron ore. He poured in all his savings to buy that land and hired a professional company to survey it. The result was a heartening one."

"He lacks funds needed for subsequent developments, so he formed a steelworks company and intends to apply for a loan from the bank using the project. At the same time, he will also issue a corresponding number of shares to raise its initial capital. The plan is still in its preparatory stage and promises fat returns."

Klein, who had been reading the newspaper recently and also happened to be a "history expert," knew that there were shares in this world. He also knew that the concept of shares was derived from Emperor Roselle.

Yeah, him again.

At moments like these, Klein really wanted to choke the dead emperor and scream at him to at least leave some things for his future transmigrators!

During the colonization of the Southern Continent, Roselle had set up the Siberon company and solved the nation's fiduciary matters successfully by raising funds from the public through the issue of shares. As such, he had the first-movers advantage from colonization.

Because the returns were great, this development continued on. For example, there were railway shares, mining shares, steam development shares, and so on and so forth. There were some that succeeded and there were some that failed. Hence, it catalyzed the formation of organizations like the Backlund Stock Exchange.

Besides that, the Emperor Roselle had created national bonds, unit trusts, and other financial products. The former had become the most stable form investment, with a return of four to six percent interest.

What HADN'T that guy 'invented'?!

Klein divined the future of the investment for Mr. Glacis and told him how his investments would end up in failure.

Unfortunately, he was also able to feel the helplessness of a Seer. He could only give suggestions. Mr. Glacis went back and Klein knew for a fact that he was still going to invest into that project.

Fortunately, right after that Klein got another customer- more money! Also more instances to digest his potion, that too.

Anna's fiancé… The Joyce Meyer that went through a terrifying ordeal. Klein, who had seen him in his dream divination, immediately greeted with a smile, "Good afternoon, Mister Meyer."

"Good afternoon, Mr. Moretti." Joyce took off his hat and bowed in greeting. "Thank you for the advice you gave Anna. She cannot stop praising how miraculous you are."

Klein chortled and said, "I did not change a thing. You should be thanking yourself. Without your determination and your hope for a better tomorrow, you wouldn't have been able to overcome such an ordeal."

After the exchange of pleasantries, Klein could not help but lampoon inwardly.

Does this count as mutual professional bootlicking?

In the end, Klein actually came across an extraordinary event that probably involved a beyonder named Tris. He made a mental note to himself to inform the Captain about this information. Suddenly, he didn't feel that guilty anymore for leeching off of the Nighthawks funds to fund his personal interest and to digest his potion. He was actually kind of doing his job now!

Having felt that he had spent sufficient time in the Divination Club, Klein decided to visit Amon before going back home and preparing dinner. He could also ask Amon about the Amon family and if he had any connections to them and then ask about his library. Even if it was all a coincidence and Amon was not at all related to the Amon family, there was still surely many important notebooks in there highlighting some of tye obscurer history regarding the fourth epoch.

Before that, Klein took out a coin and flipped it, chating that Amon was home at the moment.

The answer came out to be positive. Klein smiled and headed out of the Divination club after another cup of desi tea.

Klein took a public carriage to Amon's mansion and arrived there in about 20 minutes.

Klein was about to open the door, when he suddenly felt very anxious and nervous.

He started fidgeting with himself, patted down the wrinkles he had gotten from sitting in the carriage, fixed his hair under his top hat, straightened out his clothes and wiped off some of the dust on his shoes. He even went as far as to use the reflective surface of his silver pocket watch to see if his face was okay!

Why am I acting like a high school girl visiting her crush...?!

Klein let out a large sigh.

Well, it was only because he had kissed Amon yesterday, so it was natural for him to feel nervous and meet his fiance again. He wasnt actually excited about meeting with Amon, That was reasonable.

With a nod, Klein opened the door finally, "Amon! I'm home." He announced as he took off his coat and hat and hung them on the coat rack.

There was no reply.

Well, that was normal as this house was too big, there was no way that Amon would be able to hear Klein shouting from one end of the mansion to the other.

Klein first went to the living room and didn't find Amon there.

Maybe the kitchen? He reasoned with himself and walked towards the kitchen.

There was no one there as well.

More importantly, there wasn't even any indication that someone had been here the morning.

Strange...

With how much Amon loved to cook for Klein, there was small chance that he didn't visit the kitchen till now, it was already evening..

Felling slight worry, Klein fastened his steps as he kept trying to call out for Amon.

Still no replies.

Maybe he wasn't home?

But Klein had divined about this before coming here. And it didn't seem like the divination had failed.

Finally, Klein reached the master bedroom which he had visited only twice throughout his times here in the mansion. First time was when be needed some sleep before his Nighthawks interview and the second time was when Amon had brought him here to get changed.

Klein knocked on the door politely a few times, "Amon are you in there?" No reply.

Klein pursed his lips and opened the door after a while.

There on the bed he saw someone.

Amon!

Klein heaved a sigh of relief.

He was just sleeping...

He he already half planned to go to the mysterious palace above the grey and use his ring that connected him and Amon to see where his current location was if he found the man missing. Thankfully, he was still here.

That's when another thought rose in his mind.

He had made so much noise and commotion, even knocked on the door of this room many times. Why hadn't Amon woken up?

He didn't really feel like Amon was a heavy sleeper since he had actually slept with him in his own house only a few days ago. And this was already late evening, not even the time for an afternoon nap.

Was Amon sick?

Klein walked to the edge of the bed and crouched near it to observe Amon's face.

As handsome and pretty as ever...

No,

He was here to see if Amon was sick.

After hesitating a few times, Klein finally raised his arms and touched Amon's forehead to check his temperature. It was completely normal.

Feeling a bit strange and weirded out, Klein shook Amon's body a few times. "Amon, wake up. Are you okay?"

Amon didn't wake up.

He still lay there silently and quietly deep in his sleep.

It was almost as if he was dead...

Klein's heartbeat quickened as he started panicking.

"Amon!" He called out once again to no avail.

Klein wanted to do more and maybe pick up Amon and shake him violently to wake him up. Thankfully, he remembered some of the stuff he had read online on the internet back on earth that doing this was extremely dangerous for the person so he held himself back.

Should... should he call the doctor?

No, most of the doctors in this era were mostly a scam as the area of medicine hadn't been researched a lot, and it was almost guaranteed to worsen the condition rather than to cure it. That's why most people instead went to the churches to ask for blessings from their respective gods and bishops. And with the way this world actually had gods and deities, that was usually more successful than going to the hospital.

But...

There was a high chance that the churches were after Amon...

What should he do?

The apothecary that Mr. Glacis had recommended to him?

No...

He had to stay calm.

Right now, the only thing strange about Amon is that he's in a very deep sleep and won't wake up. And since he had been with Amon toll late at night the previous day, it had only been at most about 1 day since he had gotten into this state.

There are no external injuries and out of normal facts about his body as well.

Having joined the Nighthawks, he had obviously gotten some training regarding first aid and how to figure out the state of the people he was trying to diagnose.

Klein pulled out a coin.

"There's no need to call someone to help Amon." He flicked the coin.

The answer was positive.

There was no need to call someone.

Klein heaved a sigh of relief as he looked back at Amon.

He should get going now, or else Melissa and Benson would worry... but leaving Amon like this alone? What if someone broke in? Amon wouldn't be able to protect himself... what if the was a fire?!

Although he had gotten the answer that the current state of Amon was good and wasn't an emergency that needed outside help, he didn't feel right to just leave Amon here alone.

"Maybe I should stay back..." Klein wondered out aloud.

After some thought, he nodded to himself and stood back up again.

He would go back to his own home quickly and inform Benson and Melissa that Amon was a little sick and that he'd stay over the night there to take care of him. That was reasonable.

As Klein was walking out of the mansion grounds, he suddenly felt a thought surfacing in his mind.

Why.... why didn't he activate his spirit vision to see Amon's state?

How could he have forgotten to do that?

Klein's eyes widened as he attempted to turn back and look at Amon with his spirit vision.

Then suddenly, he stopped.

It was like his mind had gone blank. Like someone had just stolen his thoughts and what he was about to do at that moment.

Eh... what was he about to do?

Klein looked around again.

Right, he was going to his house to inform Melissa and Benson that he'd be staying over Amon's mansion for the night.

Klein quickly took the carriage to his home.

("You can't look at us with your spirit vision, dear..." an Amon sighed as he rested himself on Klein's cheek.

"He'll directly lose control after looking at a half-true god." After all, the entity had ingested the body and extraordinary characteristics of a true god of sequence 0. Even if Amon himself wasn't a true god, the extraordinary characteristics inside of him was more than enough to even cause another angel to lose control.

"The entity went to sleep really at the most unfortunate moment."

"Well, anytime is an unfortunate time."

"We'll have to remind the entity to quicklen his plans and get the sequence 1 characteristics from Pallez quick to stabilise his condition." Before coming here, the authority of their father as the God Almighty was more than enough to suppress the negative effects of ingesting beyonder characters of a true god not of the neighboring pathway. The effect of the last treatment was already running out and the negative effects of the extra characteristics was taking over. Fortunately, there wouldn't be any major problems until an year. But after that, the condition would worsen tremendously and if Amon didn't have another sequence 1 characteristics of his own pathway to stabilize his condition, he might even lose control.

Of course, before that they'd go to Adam for temporary treatment. But that would reveal the changes in them and they were still not sure whether they wanted to trust their father's divinity yet.

"Well, at least we got the special extra side story of worried husband taking care for his sick wife."

"I announce this as a major success!")

Tuesday at dawn. Backlund, Empress Borough.

Audrey, who woke up earlier, beckoned her golden retriever Susie over. She said with a serious tone, "Susie, you are also a Beyonder now. We are the same kind, ew—no, what I mean is that we have to help each other. Guard the door later and don't let anyone disturb me. I have to conduct a ritual."

Susie looked at her mistress and shook her tail in exasperation.
