The next day, it was Monday again. Which meant the weekly Tarot gathering was to happen in the mysterious palace above the grey fog. After writing a quick letter to his mentor from university about the Hornacis mountain range to figure out the secrets behind the illusionary ravings he had heard while drinking his potion of 'hornacia, flagrea'.
If he remembered correctly, Amon also mentioned once in passing that his mansion had a library containing old historical records. He should probably ask Amon if he could read some of the book from there. It was to find out more about the fourth epoch and the Antigonus family, he doubted Amon would find it suspicious since Klein Moretti was supposed to be a history major.
Klejn practiced his mysticism until it was about 15 minutes till three and prepared to enter the grey fog. This time he wanted to explore the area a but so he went there ahead of time. And the ring would support him and grant him extra spirituality so he wasn't afraid that he would run out of the necessary spirituality in between the meeting.
That was when another thought worried Klein. What if The Hanged Man and the Justice weren't in suitable conditions to be summoned into the grey fog? This wasn't the modern era back on earth where they could just send a quick text message or call informing him that they would be unable to join the tarot meeting that week...
A method to contact him...
Klein suddenly remembered what he had learned from Old Neil. Reciting names that point toward a certain deity.
Although Klein was definitely not a diety- he was just a weak sequence 9, surely the mysterious palace above the grey fog had the neccessary powers and authority, so if he were to bind his honorific name to this mysterious place, he could certainly receive the prayers and messages in here!
Klein became more excited the more he thought. He felt that his idea was worth a try.
"Hmm, what kind of description could be used to precisely direct a message to me and to the gray fog world?" He started thinking about the actual details.
He definitely could not use the incantation he himself had used to transmigrate and access the grey fog. If so he'd definitely lose the authority over this place.
'Fool from an alternate world'?
Nope. Too edgy and would definitely reveal his true identity as a transmigrator.
Klein wasn't sure if casting the ritualistic magic with those three descriptions would be effective, but he was definite that it would not attract the attention of another existence, It wouldn't throw Justice and The Hanged Man into danger.
Klein heaved out a long sigh and recited the incantation that he had decided upon.
"The Fool that doesn't belong to this era, you are the mysterious ruler above the gray fog; you are the King of Yellow and Black who wields good luck…"
He nodded his head slightly and took out his pocket watch to confirm the time.
"It's already 2:58…" Without further thought, Klein put away his pocket and entered Cogitation. Soon he chanted and took four steps counterclockwise to form a square.
Klein silently read the Roselle's diary pages that The Hanged Man and Miss Justice had brought for him today. The first page was about how the emperor had found a mysterious island in the fog sea...
Klein planned to cross check the time of the diary with historical records to find out more about the emperor's voyage before he finally turned the page.
"October 2nd. They actually wanted me to marry Matilda from the Abel family without even consulting me first! Heavens, I have not even met her! No, I must decline! Even if I were to run away from home and survive on my own and suffer the vicissitudes of life, I must fight against this marriage!"
W-wasn't this exactly like Klein's case?!
Emperor! At least you got a female fiance! I was stuck with a man! Klein cried in his heart.
"October 5th. Miss Matilda is really pretty."
Wasn't this just 3 days next... emperor where is your dignity?!
"October 6th. Her personality and her demeanor is just my type. I am starting to look forward to the marriage."
Klein almost wanted to scoff at that. Losing so soon and falling in love in barely a week due to some surface charms- weak!
Klein then suddenly remembered his kiss with Amon from the day before.
"..."
It had only been about 10 days since he had met Amon...
Wait...
Wasn't this exactly like the emperor?!
No no no- the emperor only took about 4 days. Meanwhile Klein was able to hold on for 10!
...
Why was he already accepting that he had already been charmed by Amon and was in love love with him?!
The kiss was only due to him trying not to act OOC!
Yes!
Just that!
The meeting continued and Klein only half paid attention to Alger's explanation about the fourth epoch until he finally heard something that almost made him tense up in surprise.
Thankfully, he was well aware that Ms. Justice had advanced to a Spectator and hence was able to stop himself from revealing his reaction.
"In that period, Antigonus, Amon, Abraham, Jacob, and others were illustrious names of the human kingdom."
Amon...
The Amon family?
Amon definitely was not a common name at all...
And the Amon he knew (and was engaged to) also seemed to be from that of a noble birth...
Is his Amon the same as this Amon?
But wouldn't that mean that Amon was a last name? But Amon treated his name as his first name...
Of course this could all just be a coincidence as well.
There was no rule in this world saying that no two people can have the same name or last name...
Maybe he could ask Amon about this? Amon wouldn't mind explaining to Klein since he was supposed ti be researchung about the fourth epoch. Actually, it would be even more suspicious if he didn't ask Amon about the existence of any connections to him and the Amon family... leading Amon to suspect that Klein had something to hide from him, which definitely was a bad scenario which Klein didn't want to involve himself in.
If Amon really was a descendant to the illustrious Amon family from the fourth epoch... didn't that mean his senior transmigrator, Amon's dad was also from the Amon family? Was his name also Amon...? No, focus, no need to think about things like this...
This just meant that he should start research hung about the Amon family a bit more. Of course, he would also ask Amon himself about this.
Alger didn't notice The Fool's mental dilemma and continued, "However, after the War of the Four Sovereigns, the Blood Emperor from the Tudor Empire perished. They fell from the top of their pedestal and are now hunted by the seven gods."
Okay....
Welp.
That definitely put a stop to Klein's musings.
Hunted by the churches...
Was Amon too hunted by the churches?
Was the fall of Amon's father, Mr. Senior Amon also because of this? His subordinates released his information about his connection to the Amon family in the fourth epoch to the church?
Then that would mean that even if he asked Amon about his comection to the Amon family, there was a high chance that he might not reply, afraid that his own fiance would abandon him like his father's subordinates... yea, experiencing something like that in one's childhood, even indirectly, would cause major trust issues to fester up in any child or young adult's minds...
This also explained the reason why Amon had held back in talking about his own origins and his family from the real Klein Moretti saying that he wasn't yet comfortable with sharing about it. But hadn't he said that he had thought about it and confessed to Klein that he would be more honest to him and answer any questions about his family and past?
Does the question if he is related to the Amon family from the fourth epoch also come under that category?
If Amon really turned out to have some sort of connection to them... that meant that the library amon talked about which had books from the old era actually were books passed down by the illustrious Amon family!
Maybe the information in those books would actually be on par with the Antigonus family notebook itself!
Klein almost broke iut into a large smile as he realized these things.
It was like he had just tumbled into a treasure trove right in his basement!
Of course in this case, it was Amon's basement...
"I am not sure about the actual process, but I do know that the Antigonus family was destroyed at the hands of the Church of the Evernight Goddess. Mr. Fool, if you'd like to know more, I am afraid that you can only obtain the information from the Church of the Evernight Goddess or from the few ancient secret organizations. You know which few I am referring,"
Klein wanted to laughter at himself self deprecatingly, saying that he didn't.
But-!
He did!
And a source of information action that definitely was not second to the official churches and organizations if his theory about Amon was right!
Of course he couldn't expect every single secret about the fourth epoch to be in that library. Firstly, Amon's mansion in Tingen where he was currently living in might not even be his main home and most of the important texts and notebooks must be with either his older brother or father or hidden in some secret space.
But whatever that information was, it certainly would be way better than the one he would get from the church due to his inferior standing! And it also wasn't like he wanted to find out the secret behind the universe, or Alista Tudor's secrets about his love life with pigeons in those books. He just wanted some surface level information to better understand the Antigonus family.
Klein continuously rapped the edge of the long table with the tip of his finger a couple of times.
Then, he slowly began to speak.
"Very well, I am satisfied with the payment."
The reason he continuously rapped the long table lightly with his fingers was to emphasize the action, to make Justice and The Hanged Man believe that he had a habit of rapping in order to conceal the fact that the same motion was used to activate and deactivate his Spirit Vision.
"It's my pleasure." Alger did not say anything else.
The meeting continued, until everyone paused when Ms. Justcid asked a particular question.
She asked bashfully, "If—and I'm saying if—a normal animal were to drink a Sequence 9 potion, what would happen?"
What kind of a question was that?!
Very quickly, he saw the changes in color and noticed that Audrey's emotions had turned frantic, nervous, and a little ashamed.
Could she have done something that stupid? Klein was astounded, but didn't find it strange.
After the past two Gatherings, he was certain that Miss Justice was quite an airhead.
Klein was suddenly worried about the future of his little evil cult...
