Chapter 17 - Chapter 17

After quickly informing Dunn in the Blackthorn Security Company, Klein, Leonard, Frye, and Old Neil finally found the rotting corpse of Ray Bieber's mother in the room just beside where Elliott's kidnappers were at. Through Old Neil's ritualistic magic, they were able to determine his look but unfortunately some unknown force was blocking and and all kinds of divination.

Which was why Old Neil, Leonard and Klein ended up riding the carriage back to the Blackthorn Security Company while Dunn and Frye handled the matters there.

"You should be glad," Old Neil chuckled at Klein, "With this, the eyes of the instigator has officially been drawn away from you and after the Secret Order gets wind of our pursuit over Ray Beiber, their eyes on you would go away as well."

"Yes..." Klein replied back awkwardly, not knowing how to reply. He was still shaken by the pungent and putrid smell of the rotting corpse of that women they had found. He had even ended up vomiting... everyone else was seemingly already used to the smell and didn't even flinch...

"You don't seem to be a devout believer of the Goddess. At this moment, shouldn't you be drawing the sign of the crimson moon at your chest and say—may Goddess bless us?" Old Neil chuckled.

Leonard, who was sitting beside then gulped in fear.

"Mr. Neil, you don't seem like one either. A real devotee would not say 'what follows will be a brand-new journey filled with sunlight.'" Having been studying mysticism under Old Neil, Klein had established a decent friendship with him, so he did not stand on ceremony to return a sarcastic remark.

Both of them locked eyes and chuckled with great rapport. At the same time, they tapped their chests four times.

"Praise the La- cough! COUGH!" Klein suddenly had a fit of coughing.

"Ah, you young ones should take care of your bodies..." Old Neil laughed.

'Old Neil!!! Don't try to make the lover of Amon speak the name of the goddess!!' Leonard cried in his heart.

"Anyways," Old Neil then turned to Leonard, "I never expected you to volunteer and help us."

"Well... I was just a bit bored from the night shift." Leonard smiled, deep down in his heart he cursed that he had no choice but to accompany Klein- Amon had himself asked (read- threatened) him to accompany Klein! He didn't want to die!

Why? Leonard didn't know! The guy was still floating all around Klein with his clones in a possessive and love sick manner- why the hell did he even need Leonard to watch over Klein?!

[Keep your head calm kid, I want to rest.] Pallez grumbled in Leonard's mind.

"Shut the hell up, it's your fault that this is even happening!" Leonard whispered angrily into his sleeve.

"Leonard? Did you say something?" Klein asked with a worried look on his face.

"Nothing, just talking to myself." Leonard forced a smile.

"Okay... but if you do need any help- I know this psychologist through Welch-"

Leonard wanted to die.

Klein entered Amon's mansion directly, he already had the keys and there was no need to ring the bell or knock considering they were fiances so it would be odder if he treated Amon's house as a foreign place.

Klein saw Amon sitting leisurely on the couch with his feet on the other end of the couch, completely un noble like which made Klein smile a bit.

"Klein? Welcome back~" Amon greeted with a wide smile but didn't sit straighter.

He's becoming real comfortable comfortable me these days huh... Klein shook his head with a smile and hung hid coat and top hat in the coat rack and sat down beside Amon, who instantly stuck to him like a Koala.

"You seem a little down today, something happened at work?" Amon asked kindly as he clung to Klein's hand.

"Hm..." Klein gave a noncommittal hum in response, he no longer flinched or got uncomfortable with Amon's over touchiness. He was supposed to act as Amon's fiance so he was glad that he had gotten used to this certain aspect of their relationship... and he wouldn't admit it but Amon acting like a clingy lover was sometimes really cute. And something he needed right at this moment. "You know how my job is at a security comapny right...?"

"Yes, of course," Amon nodded.

"Well... I saw a dead body today..." Klein confessed awkwardly, he knew he shouldn't be talking about this graphic thing with someone so sweet and innocent, but he really needed to get this off his chest with someone else. He didn't really find it comfortable to share with people like Dunn or Loenard in the Blackthorn Security Company since they all already seemed to used to it and were so nonchalant about it... he reallly wanted to talk to a relatively normal people about this. Thankfully, Amon wasn't a beyonder and lived a peaceful life except for his painful past. "It was already rotting... and stuff, it was the first time I saw something like that.... it just shook me a bit I think." He mumbled.

Amon smiled at him, then pushed him onto the couch and hugged his body diagonally. "It must have been tough right?" He spoke in a kind voice. "You can lean on me if it gets too tough you know? That's what a finace is for!"

"Amon..." Klein smiled weakly, and buried himself into Amon's chest, not caring for their intimate position and the ambiguous atmosphere. He really needed this comfort fight now more than his confusing feelings coming in between.

Amon held Klein lovingly in his arms and noticed with interest how the microbe Amons in air also came close to Klein, as if also wanting to hug and give comfort to their lover.

This Klein really was something else...

By the time he had met Klein, he was already a seasoned beyonder, meaning he had already experienced and himself committed many murders himself. He was already a demigod and no longer flinched at things like dead bodies and lost lives...

But this Klein was very innocent- practically a baby.

Something as little as a rotting body got him into such a mood... how would he even be able to handle killing someone on his own?

This purity...

These tenseless shoulders which still hadn't shouldered the world and his own lover's safety onto himself...

This Klein who could still laugh and smile this easily...

Still feel angry and sad and depressed over small things...

Someone still someone hopeful about this world...

Hopeful that he'd still be able to get back to his own world.

Someone who hadn't yet realized that his home was no more and his task was nothing but something unachievable except in the deepest of Tianzun induced dreams.

Things like these, Klein had bottled them up deep inside and never been able to talk to someone about it until it was too late. Even with his sessions with Audrey, he had already created such a thick mask over himself that he himself had forgotten who he was. Behind The Fool, behind Merlin Hermes, Dwayne Dantes, behind Gehrman Sparrow, behind Sherlock Moriarty, behind Klein Moretti.

This was Zhou Mingrui.

Although he knew that it was impossible, Amon would still try to retain this pure Klein for as long as it was possible...

And for that Amon would be there for Klein for as long as it was possible and in line with his plans.

"You woke up early today didn't you? Get some sleep before going back, I'm sure your colleagues won't mind since you have went through this ordeal." Amon patted Klein's head and smiled.

Klein was so exhausted that he didn't worry about how Amon knew that he had woken up early today, and simply buried his head deeper into Amon's chest and heaved out a relaxed sigh and felt himself falling asleep in Amon's safe arms.

As his last few moments of conciousness shred off, he couldn't help but think that having Amon as a fiance wasn't so bad...

After getting his 10 pounds from completing the mission, Klein went to the divination club to apply as a member, since he figured he could already join before the money came in as he already had about 20 pounds on his hand already.

He paid the 5 pound entrance fees and set his consultation fees as 8 pence on accordance to a few recommendations.

In the middle the the meeting, he saw Hanass Vincent walk out of Moonstone. He held a silver-coated mirror.

This well-known fortune-teller said to the five members in the meeting room, "I recently learned a new divination art. Magic mirror divination. Does anyone want to learn?"

Magic mirror divination? That's not safe… Klein paused outside the meeting room and frowned.

But he shouldn't force himself into this situation and reveal himself as an actual fortune teller and beyonder of the Nighthawks, he would just report this to captain Dunn Smith later.

The meeting continued and everyone kept discussing about mustucm and different types of readings and rituals and even asked Klein sometimes which be gave minimal responses to so as to steer the topic away from extraordinaries.

All the while he kept thinking on how he could act as a seer to digest his potion...

Should he use a few phrases like 'you are plagued with bad luck,' 'you have been unlucky recently,' or 'nothing you do will happen smoothly?' No, that was nothing like a Seer… With this in mind, Klein could not help but shake his head in self-deprecation.

He picked up his cane, stood up, and left after bidding everyone farewell.

Klein gave the rest of his 5 pounds to his siblings to help them buy clothes and books as they liked. He was planning to conceal his leftover money and the money he'd be reimbursed with for the club he had joint through the company since he didn't want his siblings, especially Melissa, to know that Amon had bought a lot of things for him as well as it would indeed with quiet scary to his siblings if he brought home this much money on a regular, making them convinced that Klein was doing something illegal.

He planned to use the rest of the money for a little bit of mysticism and... didn't Amon shift him his clothes and his ring? Should Klein be a good fiance and gift him something back from his own pay? He had already bought stuff for his siblings, shouldn't the next be his own lover?

But...

Amon was already so rich and well off... what would his measly 15 pounds even be able to buy something for someone so high key like him?

But... he didn't see anything with Amon that seemed to hint that Klein had gifted the man something... the only things he saw Amon with continously were his crystal monocle glass and his ancient looking gold and silver pocket watch- both of which seemed way out of Klein's budget right now and previously.

To think that the original Klein never even gifted Amon anything- trash!

Klein really wanted to do something for Amon...

If only just to thank him for being there and being so nice and gentle to Klein...

He really didn't want to make Amon think that he thought he was a materialistic person... so wouldn't a date be better?

Of course only as normal bros, Klein wasn't gay.

And it didn't have to be anything special or fancy-!

With that- Klein had decided!

He would take Amon out on a date and pay for it! And didn't he see a circus in the town? There was also the theatre- and then they could end it all with a park date!

Klein felt his cheeks live up as he placed ned his to-date with Amon.

("I know this is supposed to be romantic and sweet and all- but what the fuck even is a bro date?!"

"And he said that he was an honest person... just admit you want to fondle our ass!")
