What should I eat today?
For a man… He has what…~
Not he? Then whom?~
I feel a hand grab my shoulder, stopping me in motion. I turn around to see two men. One looked rather angry and another seemed nervous. The angry one started talking, but because I had earbuds in, and was too lazy to take them out, I tried to read his lips. What could it be that they want? Could they be scammers? Converters? Or could they want my number? I'll just give them a fake number I carry around.
I pull out a paper slip with a random number written on it and give it to them before scurrying off.
What a bad way to start the day. First, I slam my foot, and now get approached.
Now what should I eat for lunch..
I walk around the campus, pondering before approaching the cafeteria and remembering that there was katsu chicken today.
I think I'll eat lunch here for today.
I check my phone to realize that my first class was in a minute and hurry over. That approach from today must've made me forget that I had a new class.
Originally, I would've had a coding class, but I was late to registering to it as everyone had been camping the registering website for that class. In the end, I took a random class for more credits and for fun.
I approach the door three minutes late and enter the class, feeling relieved seeing that the professor hadnt arrived yet. I quickly choose a seat and prepare a notebook and pencil. The teacher comes in shortly after and goes, "Good mornin', class, hopefully you guys completed your homework I assigned from last Friday.. You've had two days to finish it, so I won't be accepting late work, especially because it's the first assignment you'll be turning in." He places a pile of binders and papers on his desk and hangs his bag after.
I guess I'll have to ask for an extension since this is my first day in his class..
The lecture begins and in the midst of it,
I hear loud whispering behind me and turn around to see three guys jumping up and down in their seat.
Why are they being so loud during the lecture?
I turn back around and try to focus on the teacher and jot down notes I figured would be helpful.
After the class ended, I walk towards his desk and introduce myself. "Hello, Mr. Smith, I'm Aris. I just transferred into your class today, so I was wondering if I could get the assignment you were talking about today and turn it in next class?" He smiled and handed me the assignment. "Sure! I've heard great things about you from Wilde."
"Oh, Mr. Wilde is just saying things." I chuckle and thank him.
"Humble, are we? I hope you'll put the same effort into my class, even if you don't need it, Aris." I nod and assure him before leaving.
I head towards the quiet library and find a seat in a study section and work on the assignment. It's not hard, but only answering questions that can be answered within the video. After I finished my homework, I looked for a random book and read it till the bell rang. It's twelve now, so the cafeteria will begin to serve katsu.
I head towards the cafeteria and line up. While waiting, I put in one of my wireless earbuds and before I can put in the other, someone bumps into me from behind.
Shit, I almost dropped my earbud!
I peer behind and see it was the group of guys being loud from my art class. Slightly peeved, I look slightly downward at the one who bumped into me. His hair was a royal blonde and his eyes were the color of a tropical lagoon. I hadn't gotten a close look at the guy, but I already knew he was attractive. He looked back at his friend and then back to me. From his demeanor, I could tell he was saying sorry. I told him it was fine before turning back and putting back the earbud in my hand back in its case.
When it was my turn to plate my food, I asked for katsu, rice, salad, and corn cobs.
Six katsu pieces, nice.
When they finished playing my food, I looked over at the pretty guy for one last glance, but only saw the back of his head since he was talking to his friends. Slightly inconvenienced by that, I find a seat on the left side of the cafeteria and sit near the glass window for some scenery. I put in my other earbud and begin to eat.
Now that I think back to the book from earlier, it wasn't my cup of tea. It was interesting, but not something I believed in. In the book, it discussed fate and how things never happen by coincidence. While reading, I compared it to what I believed in, and agreed with the book to an extent.
Things do occur by coincidence. For example, two people grab something at the same time, but nothing comes to fruition. You just think, hmm.. I guess they share similar interests with me and move on. That's how it was in the past for me, and that's how it is now. Before I realized, I had finished eating all of the katsu, so I moved on to drink my orange juice until another one was placed on my table.
"Enjoy!" A girl with black hair and a red face placed down an extra drink and ran away with her friend. I look at the orange juice for a bit, pondering if I should drink it. I opened it and finished it as well before packing up and leaving to prepare for the next class. As I return my tray, my eyes lock onto the same group of guys. It looks like they were passionately talking about something.
They look like they'd be tiring to be around.
After a quick glance, I left to walk around for digestion and to pass time before the next class. Outside by the cafeteria, there was a scenic path with many trees and unlit lamps. I walk towards it and turn up my music volume, commencing my peaceful walk. While admiring the trees and the school campus, classical music filled my ears.
I sit down on a bench further into the trail and admire the trees and the waterfall in front of me. I hear the faint sound of water sloshing and crashing into itself, overriden by classical music.
This is life right here.
I close my eyes and enjoy the moment, dazing into a short slumber until my alarm rings. It's 3PM and almost time for my closing class at 3:10. I yawn and stretch before getting up and heading towards the Science building. Like muscle memory, I sit in my usual spot and follow the class instructions and try to do my own thing at the same time. I try to finish the rest of the coding challenges he gives us and get hyper focused on one task until the class ends. "Aris, come here." Mr. Wilde ushers me over to his desk. "You know, despite you having only two years of coding before this, you're learning and improving at a quick pace." I thank him and say it's only because I have passion to work on it thanks to him. He frowns, "you know you're the top student right? You're the best student in the computer science department." I respond, "Oh, really? I had no clue, sir. It's because of you and my great mentors in the past."
"Still tryna be humble, huh? Well, Aris, you know.. I got an offer to bring an extra to the Hannel event. I was hoping you'd come with me so you could build some connections and land ya a good internship there."
"Wow, that sounds very prestigious.. When is this?" I ask him. "On September 24th, bud. Ya think you can make it?" I think for a moment before saying, "Can I let you know in a week?" He agrees and pats me on the back before letting me go. I open the door and head towards a vending machine to quench my thirst before hearing some gossip from the other side of the wall.
"It's because he's rich."
"Yeah, he's smart, but that's because he was able to get famous tutors because he's a spoiled rich kid."
"The rich only get richer."
"He's so stuck up and annoying too. What's the point of all the good qualities if you've got a bad reputation and attitude?"
Thud!
My drink falls out of the machine. I grab and open it for a sip. I know they're gossiping about me, but I can't find any reason to care. I pass them before hearing a masculine voice defend me. "You're just mad he's better than you. Lock in, dude." Stunned from it, I stop and turn. Who would defend me? I cautiously look and its the pretty, annoying guy. I stay behind and drink from my can while listening.
"The fuck? You don't even know him?"
"Yeah, I actually just became aware of his presence this morning because he was in my art class."
"Why the fuck is he in an Art class? Isn't that where all you losers are?"
"Shut up, dude. Not sure either, but he seems pretty geniune. I saw him get the assignment for last week because he jus transferred."
"What are you? A stalker? Why the hell do you got hella evidence haha."
"Hey! I just happened to have the same class as him, I'm not some creep like you."
"Anyways, that dude is weird. Gives me the creeps too.. I don't get why all the girls are obsessed with him. He looks gay lol."
"Just because he's better looking than you, doesn't mean he's gay. He doesn't even look like a girl, he's more handsome."
"Damn, if you're fuckin gay, just say so!"
"I'm not gay, I'm dating Hannah and I'm not into dick!" After that, they just talked about girls, which bored me so I proceeded to walk away.
He thinks I'm handsome..
