Chapter 34 - Into the Abyss

Arriving near the ravine, I stopped the car just about 30 meters away.

Deciding that this is far enough, I got out and went to the front of the vehicle and attached a cable to my vest for precaution.

Leaving the pet inside the car, I made the rest of the way on foot towards the ravine.

Peering down, my heart throbbed at the thought of just accidentally slipping down from the sheer height and dying miserably at the bottom.

In the game, one wouldn't think much of it and many would jump directly in and do a water bucket clutch.

Having done multiple jumps in the military, one would think that they are used to it now and no longer have a fear of height.

But still in the back of their mind, they keep thinking of what if. Like what if my equipments fails and my parachute doesn't open up, what if my the plane get shots down or crash.

Those thought will always remain regardless of all the training someone had done. It's an instinctual nature of human and sometimes those thought are what kept them alive.

Having look down enough, I headed back to the car to get the drone. Powering on the drone and goggles, I placed the drone on the hood and sat back in the driver seat making myself comfortable.

Taking off, I descend down below into the ravine making a brief pass from end to end.

Flying through I spotted some what I assumed to be exposed ore such as iron and coal. There were also other ore I don't recognize from the vanilla game.

Aside from ores, I came across some mobs hiding in the shadow avoiding the sunlight. It was primarily the common mobs such as zombies, skeletons, and a few spiders.

Continuing on, I soon spotted the remains of a wooden structures. From what I could tell, it look like scaffolding and a wooden walkway crossing the ravine down below.

A portion of the walkway had collapsed at the center, breaking up the 2 sides. The structure went deep into the sides of the wall and I don't know where it would lead out to.

Seeing the structures and its' resemblance to the game, I recognized it as an abandoned mineshaft.

Flying the drone deeper, I slowly flew into the right entrance. Continuing deeper into the mineshaft, I didn't noticed anything of interest other than the occasional ore on the wall.

It was also getting darker and darker inside that I had to switch to the drone's night vision.

Eventually, I soon came upon a small chest inside. Since the drone doesn't have hands, it couldn't open the chest.

Also the chest here is different from a normal chest with some kind of pocket dimension to store and access item.

Moving on, I made a marker on my mental map and flew deeper. Soon I was blocked by a huge spider web covering the pathway from wall to wall in front of the drone.

I could also make out what appears to be a small cage with some flickering fire inside it.

Realizing that this could be a spider spawned. I turned around and headed back towards the opening.

"Phew, wouldn't want to lose a drone now and having to go down and retrieve it."

Heading back out, I then flew for the left entrance of the mineshaft. Just like the right, it was similar with various ores and minerals on the wall and another chest deep inside.

Flying deeper inside, the area soon started opening up into a cavernous chamber. I could spot some more ores on the wall and down below the walkway. I could see more mobs inside the cave.

I soon had to cut the exploration short because I was starting to lose some signal and the image was starting to get grainy and staticky.

Concluding the exploration today, I flew the drone back up and packed it back in its' case.

Turning on the car, I droved back to the outpost without any issues.
