As Alpha of the blood stone pack, I've proved my strength and competence by leading the strongest pack in the west. I sat on my desk absentmindedly twirling my fingers around the petals.
"Another gift?" My beta Jackson asked with an amused smirk.
I sighed already irritated at where he conversation is heading.
"I'm tired of these gifts especially from males who just want to breed me." I rolled my eyes.
"Well you're a direct descendant of the moon goddess, of course they'll want a share of the power." He replied.
Tell me something more obvious." I sighed dramatically plopping down on my chair and dumping the flowers on my table.
"So how are the preparations?"
This time my Gamma Alfred replied with a clipped tone obviously trying not to laugh at my frustration.
"It's going well, Evelyn's adding the final touch."
Hearing her name triggered my maternal instincts.
"What? Isn't she supposed to be resting? Why is she in charge of preparations?"
"She said the baby was bored." He replied
I turned to a chuckling Jackson giving him a stank look, he stops laugh immediately.
"She's fine, the last time I checked she was having a feast and ordering everyone around." Alfred continued.
I relaxed a bit worry evident in my voice.
"Please pay close attention to her she's due for delivery."
"I will" He replied.
Immediately my wolf Hazel alerted me, her voice calm but deadly.
"Something is wrong"
She
I tensed up, gaze spiraling.
"What's wrong?"
"I don't know, just that uneasy feeling." She continued.
"We can sweep through the borders if it's so uncomfortable."
"Sure….."
I came out of my dazed state to guarded faces.
"Is everything okay? Jackson asked with a protective stance.
"It's Hazel, she feels uneasy for some reason." I replied with a clipped tone.
"Let's round the borders, check for anything suspicious."
....
"Something was here" Hazel's calm voice now panicking.
I walk closer to the border staring into the forest.
"I don't think anyone will come here without a notice," Jackson chipped in standing beside me.
"Who in his right senses would want to anger your wolf? Alfred added.
"They aren't from here" I stepped closer to the line eyes trailing every inch of the forest.
"I can sense it's dark aura and Hazel is worried."
"I'll assign more warriors around the border and I'll also warn the pack members" Jackson replied before spinning out of sight with an inhuman speed.
"Should we cancel the mating ceremony? Probably till we identify the threat? Alfred asked now panicking.
"We can't, it's too late to cancel, let's just get more warriors around the border."
"Relay my messages"
"Yes Alpha."
He left while I stood there scanning through the woods, that weird feeling coming back.
"Do you feel it? Hazels voice boomed loud in my head.
"It's chilly, but no scent. Whatever it is can mask their scent which is almost impossible. Why can't we smell it?"
I felt something watching me but I saw no one then the feeling was gone.
"It's gone" Hazel whispered lowly.
