Chapter 7 - Chapter Seven

Mellisa's POV

None other than Diana, my ex best friend, makes an appearance.

She is yet to look at me as she is fixing her revealing top and tiny skirt.

"Why are you here, Diana?" Adam asks with gritted teeth.

She lifts her head up to reply but her eyes freeze at the sight of me.

"Who is this again?" Fred asks through the mindlink.

"My ex best friend I told you guys about." I reply, making sure he and Aiden hear me through the mindlink.

"What is SHE doing here?" She sneers in contempt.

Angry growls resound in my office, "Watch your dog, Alpha Adam." Aiden says too calmly.

"How dare you? I'm a Beta's daughter and the future Luna of the Red Crescent."

A chuckle escapes my lips, if only she knew.

"Funny, how you referred to me as a two-timer but you couldn't wait to get rid of me and cling to her." I say as I walk round my table standing between Fred and Aiden.

"Wait, who are you in this pack? Why is there a low-life like you in the Alpha's office?" Diana asks in confusion and contempt.

"Leave it be, Diana. Let's go." Adam walks towards her and holds onto her arms.

She yanks her arms off him. "No, I'm pretty sure the Alpha doesn't know you were banished for infidelity and betrayal."

Fred steps forward, but I hold him back. His action wipes the smirk off her face.

Adam takes a deep breath and mutters, "I apologise for her foolish words, Alpha. It won't happen again, I'll make sure of it."

Her eyes bulged out in shock, "W..what!!!" She stutters.

I take strong strides towards them towards the door, Aiden and Fred in tow.

I push my wolf, Selena, forward partially shifting, perks of being a white wolf.

I stop right in front of her "If you ever disrespect me again, I'll leave you crawling and begging me to stop, I'm no longer that naive little girl you used to know." I say flashing my canines.

"Now get out," I point towards the door.

Adam gives her a deathly stare and drags her by the arm, walking out.

"What do you mean by Alpha, who is Alpha?" Diana whispers down the hallway in fear.

After a few seconds, the three of us burst into a fit of laughter.

I catch my breath after a while, "I don't know how I once saw her as my sister."

"She looks like someone begging for attention." Fred says, rolling his eyes.

"You know at some point I didn't feel comfortable with her getting too touchy with Adam. Worse, she was always asking about how he was."

"You think they were together before you left?"

"Probably, nothing surprises me anymore."

"But guys come to think of it, it seems they are yet to mate." Aiden adds thoughtfully.

"What do you mean?"

He sighs, "My problem with you two is that you never pay attention and listen."

"Whatever, go straight to the point, stupid."

"In her little rant she said that she is the future Luna," Aiden says.

"What! That's so unusual. Alphas bond with their mates almost immediately, even chosen mates as herself." Fred replies in deep thought.

"There might be a bit of trouble in paradise." Aiden says.

"Well, that's their problem as long as they stay the hell away from me." I say going back to my paperwork.

"What about Gift?" Aiden breaks the tight silence.

"What about my son?" I ask defensively.

"What would you do if he gets to know that he's his father?" Aiden doesn't back down.

I love and hate that about him right now.

"He isn't his father. You two are much closer to that name than he is."

He lets out a breath in exasperation, "He will figure this all out. Even if it's not right now, sooner or later it will all come to light."

Anger surged through my veins. "And you think I don't know that? What would you have me do? Walk up to him and hand my child over?"

Aiden's eyes widen at my outburst but I don't care the least right now.

"No, I just….."

"This guy we're talking about threw me out like I meant nothing, barely acknowledged me when we were together." I interrupt.

"Do you not see that he might do the same to my pup?"

Selena whimpers at the back of my mind.

I try to reign over the rage but it is not working. Both of them stare at me in shock but keep silent.

"I'm out, don't wait for me at lunch." I stalk out of the office, deep in thought. Soon I was out of the pack house. The clearing in front is empty, but a few pack members, everyone is carrying out their duties.

I need to shift, so I can cool off. My paws soon hit the bare floor, the hot sun rays hit my back as I push past the trees in a blur.

"Let's go to our favourite place," Selena mutters at the back of my mind.

I hum in agreement and take a sharp turn to the waterfall, I slow down to a trot as I approach my destination.

"Let's take a rest here," She says. I settle by the waterfall birds chirping above me.

"I'm sorry, I wasn't there for you when you needed me the most." She continues.

"Selena, stop. You did nothing wrong, we all went through pain and I might have even lost my life if you had shown up earlier."

"You know I can feel the intense pain of what you wish you always had," She answers.

I take in a gasp of surprise. "I know you have been trying to take it all upon yourself. But we are one, I feel it and I wish I could take it away."

"I always just wanted love, or is that too much to ask? Don't I deserve love?" I ask

"You deserve love, Mel. You mean so much more than you think. Look around you, you're loved. Your parents, Gift, Fred, Aiden and the pack members love you."

Realization dawned on me. I have been rather selfish in my thoughts.

"I've been so blinded by my pain that I have closed my heart off from everyone, I've been pretending to be okay. But, my heart is so injured."

"We're in this together, Mel. I won't let you be alone. We will heal together, okay?"

"Okay." Feeling a lot lighter, the heaviness I felt earlier lessened. I know I'm not completely healed but I'll take the first steps needed.

"You know Aiden meant no harm right? He cares about you and just wanted you to brace yourself in case Adam found out about Gift."

I take a deep breath, "I guess I overreacted a little bit."

She scoffs with sarcasm. "Yeah right."

"Someone's coming, shift, and get dressed." I walk to a large tree trunk, one of the places in the forest where my pack keeps clothes for pack members that want to shift.

Just as I slip on the large shirt and shorts, I get a whiff of my friends.

They still care even after my outburst.

"It's time for lunch and we couldn't have it without you," Fred stepped forward from the trees.

I spin so fast around, I need to apologise at least it's a start.

"I know you guys can't do without me," a smile playing on my lips.

I stalk forward towards them and walk right past Fred to Aiden who was looking a bit guilty.

"I'm sorry!!!" We speak at once.

"You go first," he says in relief.

"I'm sorry I lashed out at you, you're right I need to brace myself for it when he finds out."

He then shakes his head, "No, I'm sorry for being insensitive. What you need right now is love and support and not me being all rational."

"But it came from a place of love. Yes, I'm so scared and overwhelmed but I shouldn't be blind to the fact that you guys care and love me with all your hearts."

"Your fears are valid, though."

"Can you guys hug it out already?" Fred teases with a bratty voice.

"Sure," I answer with mischief since Aiden hates mushy stuff.

"No, get away from me." He was heading towards the clearing, I jumped on his back.

"You little flea" he spins me over, drops me on the ground, going for my sides and tickling me silly.

"Let goooo!!!" Peals of laughter burst out from my mouth, Fred then joins in

"What the hell is going on here?" A raging voice causes us to freeze.
