Chapter 26 - Zhang Lexuan and Ma Xiaotao

Not long after, Huo Yuhao had completely searched Chai San and Chai Wu, taking all the money they carried.

Unfortunately, there wasn't much. The two of them combined had less than one Gold Soul Coin. After all, when they were working, they couldn't exactly carry dozens of Gold Soul Coins, could they?

After dragging the two corpses into the weeds, Huo Yuhao shot each of them in the head with an arrow, making sure they were dead beyond any doubt. Only then did he retrieve his bundle from the tree and head back the way he came.

He was covered in blood and needed to clean himself up, and he also needed to fulfill the promise he made to the little stream.

But…

What Huo Yuhao didn't notice was that, from beginning to end, a gaze had been fixed on him from a great distance.

This gaze held a bit of shock, but also a trace of admiration, and eventually, it all turned into anticipation.

The branches trembled slightly as a figure quietly departed.

But at that moment, Huo Yuhao seemed to sense something. He paused, and after a few seconds, he resumed his journey.

Back at the stream, Huo Yuhao quickly searched Chai Si's body for any money, then tossed the corpse into the bushes. He took off his bloodstained clothes and began to wash them.

However, he didn't keep his word this time. He didn't bother to catch the fish in the stream. Instead, after drying his clothes, he packed them away, preparing to leave.

Huo Yuhao opened the map Old Man Chen had given him and studied it.

Looking at it this way, the White Tiger Duke's Manor was roughly several hundred kilometers away from Shrek City.

He recalled the Huo Yuhao from the original story who took six days to reach the Star Dou Great Forest. Covering a hundred and fifty kilometers a day felt a bit strange.

Huo Yuhao put away the map with a complex expression, shouldered his pack, and set out on the next leg of his journey.

Sky is the limit for birds, the ocean is vast for fish to leap!

Shrek City was northeast of the White Tiger Duke's Manor. Huo Yuhao followed the official road. Along the way, he encountered many merchant caravans, but they all ignored him, and neither side bothered the other. Around one o'clock in the afternoon, he stopped by a small stream, caught some fish to make lunch, and rested before continuing his journey.

"Stop!"

Above the clear stream, a hundred meters up, several rays of Soul Power flew from afar. Just as they were about to fly over the stream, one of them seemed to sense something and quickly shouted to stop, halting the team's advance.

"Senior Sister, what is it?"

As soon as they stopped, everyone collectively looked at the beautiful woman at the head of the group, who had a graceful temperament. The woman on the far left, who had a head of gorgeous red hair like flames, couldn't help but ask.

The woman called Senior Sister frowned. She looked down, her gaze finally locking onto a tree that was much larger than the other trees.

"This tree has Soul Power fluctuations; it's gradually evolving into a Soul Beast. Follow me." With that, Senior Sister's Soul Power surged, controlling the flying Soul Tool on her back to slowly descend to the ground.

Hearing Senior Sister's words, the expressions of the others changed. There was no record of any Soul Beasts appearing in this area. How could a tree suddenly be evolving into a Soul Beast?

Immediately, the group hurried to the ground, following the gentle woman.

"Someone died here not long ago."

As soon as they landed, a young man with extremely sharp eyes instantly locked onto a thicket of trees, where a faint smell of blood lingered.

"Zifeng, Luochen, you two go and take a look over there," Senior Sister said without turning her head, looking at the large tree.

"Yes."

The young man and another cold-faced woman responded and walked towards the thicket.

The others' gazes collectively fell upon the gnarled, sprawling tree. This tree was lush, with green leaves, completely unlike other trees of the same type in this season.

"There is indeed a faint fluctuation of Soul Power emanating from this tree, but according to my calculations, it will need at least another six months to become a ten-year-level Soul Beast," the red-haired, beautiful girl observed the tree seriously, reaching a conclusion after a few seconds.

"Xiaotao, you're quite something. You used to hate theoretical knowledge the most, but today you actually saw the key point right away," a woman with a similarly graceful demeanor chuckled. Her name was Han Ruoruo.

The red-haired girl's expression was a little awkward. "Sister Ruoruo, I'm an inner court student, after all. If I didn't understand this, the old man would beat me up for sure."

"Haha."

Hearing this, everyone, except for Senior Sister, couldn't help but laugh.

Ma Xiaotao rolled her eyes. It was fine for Senior Sister to laugh, but as for the others, laugh all you want. When they got back to the academy, she'd find them one by one and challenge them to a fight, starting with the ones who laughed the loudest.

Senior Sister had a smile on her lips. She took the initiative to step forward, reaching within six meters of the large tree. In that instant, the tree, which would soon become a Soul Beast, suddenly retracted its Soul Power aura, instantly transforming into a simple, unassuming ordinary tree.

"Interesting." Senior Sister's eyes flickered slightly, and a hint of curiosity arose within her. Plant-type Soul Beasts, unless they were an extremely special race, were fundamentally incapable of developing external perception abilities at the ten-year level. Usually, ordinary Soul Beasts wouldn't possess this ability until they reached the hundred-year level.

In fact, this tree wasn't even a Soul Beast yet.

"Lexuan, is something wrong?" Han Ruoruo sensed the fluctuation of Soul Power released by the big tree had disappeared, and couldn't help but step forward to ask.

The others stopped laughing and became serious.

"Ruoruo, detach this tree for us. We'll take it back to the academy for Old Man Zhuang to study. Something's not right about this tree," Senior Sister said in a deep voice, her full name being Zhang Lexuan.

Han Ruoruo didn't ask why, just nodded.

The next moment, an astonishing sight appeared. Seven soul rings rose beneath Han Ruoruo's feet. Two yellow, two purple, and three black. She was actually a Soul Saint, with an optimal soul ring configuration.

But she looked too young, no more than twenty-seven or twenty-eight years old at most, a true young heroine.

"Crack!"

A crisp sound rang out. Han Ruoruo's hand now held a golden rope. With a thought, the golden rope quickly transformed into a streak of light, flying out and encircling the big tree.

The next moment, a dazzling golden light erupted from the rope, directly enveloping the entire tree. Before long, the grass began to tremble, and numerous cracks appeared in the ground, revealing all the intertwined roots of the great tree.

"Haoxuan, your storage belt's internal space is just right for this. I'll leave the carrying to you," Zhang Lexuan said, her gaze turning to a rather plump young man.

"No problem," the chubby young man nodded, took a few steps forward, and swept his hands across his waist. The next moment, a surge of spatial power flashed, directly incorporating the tree into it.

"Senior Sister, someone definitely died here."

Just as the tree was being taken away, the two who had gone to investigate the surroundings returned.

The one speaking was the sharp-eyed young man.

"Cause of death?" Zhang Lexuan turned to look at him.

The young man explained, "The cause of death was a weapon piercing the neck, resulting in death. The time of death was no more than five hours ago. There was no residual Soul Power aura on this person, so I assume he was an ordinary person. I estimate it was a result of a feud."

Hearing this, Zhang Lexuan's expression didn't change. She didn't care about someone dying; many people died on the Douluo Continent every day, and she couldn't possibly manage it all. The main thing was that this person had died in a very special place. "Postpone the return plan. From now on, everyone, disperse and search within a five-kilometer radius to see if any other plants are evolving. Once you find them, return here to gather."

"Yes." Everyone responded quickly, without the slightest hesitation, and soon rushed into the forest.

Outsiders looking at the Heavenly Eye would only think it was a special situation brought about by the male lead's spirit mutation.
