Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

That day was unusual. The rain that usually fell almost every day, did not fall that day. Even though the sun was still hiding, Lily swiftly headed to the adventurers' guild. She had just registered on her birthday. Because according to the rules, anyone could become an adventurer as long as they were 12 years old or older.

As soon as she stepped inside, a counter girl approached her. "Ah, Lily. How are you?" the girl asked softly. "Very good. By the way, Katherine. Is there something here?" she asked back. Katherine, who heard that, immediately handed Lily a piece of paper. Lily only read it briefly. "What does this mean?" she asked again. Katherine could only shrug her shoulders.

"Lily, it's better if you don't participate for this expedition," said Katherine. It seemed she didn't want Lily to get hurt considering she was the youngest adventurer in her village. "If I don't come, who will help them?" Lily asked, which immediately made Katherine silent. Katherine knew very well, there was no mage as strong as Lily in their village. Maybe Lily had just become the youngest adventurer in their village. However, Lily was also the only mage who could master four attributes at once.

"Okay, okay. I can't stop you anyway. The guild master has been waiting for your presence for a long time. Looks like I lost again this time," Katherine explained. There was nothing she could do about it. "Did you make another bet with the guild master? Don't involve me." pointed Lily for a moment then walked in.

Lily had knocked many times, but the guild master didn't answer. "You asked me to come, but this is your behavior," she grumbled, starting to lose her patience. "Master!! It's me, Lily!! Please answer," Lily shouted. This time she knocked loudly. "You old man." she grumbled again. "Fine, if that's what you want, I'll destroy this door and the building in a matter of seconds! One, two, three-" Suddenly, a young man appeared from behind the door. "Can't we talk about this calmly?" he said.

The guild master immediately served him tea. "So, I heard you need a mage for this expedition." Lily said, opening the conversation between them. "Ah, about that, I was just about to discuss it with you." The guild master began to sip the tea he had made. "As you know, this expedition will be different from the usual ones," he began to hand Lily a piece of paper. "I just received a report that in the forest near our village there is a dungeon that wasn't there before," he explained. That wasn't a good sign.

"However, there are no reports of a monster wave around there," he added, showing the report he was talking about. "Wait a minute," Lily held back. "I know you'll find this report very strange," the guild master said proudly. "Usually, if there's a new dungeon, a monster wave will be detected nearby. But this is different," he paused for a moment then held his tea cup. "This could be a disaster if not handled immediately," he continued. Then he started drinking the rest of the tea in his cup. "Lily, I want you to join this expedition. I'll talk to the village chief. So please," he pleaded with a sharp look in his eyes. "Okay. But I want my compensation to be increased than usual. How about it?" Lily offered. She didn't want a small reward. Hearing this, the guild leader immediately sighed. "I'll take care of that," he replied. "Okay, deal." Lily immediately stood up and extended her hand. The guild leader accepted her outstretched hand, indicating that they both agreed with the outcome of their discussion.

"When will this expedition begin?" Lily asked, after receiving various information from the guild leader, she could only relax. "Next month," replied the guild leader who began to tidy up the files scattered on his desk.

"Huh! But you said that this problem must be resolved as soon as possible," Lily complained, not accepting it.

If so, why did the guild leader call her at a time like this? "I have to wait for confirmation from the capital," he said, still busy with his files. Hearing that, Lily could only pout. "Come back when I call you later," said the guild leader, then forcibly took Lily out of his room. Lily sat quietly on the floor. She was still thinking about what was happening to her. "Ciel!!!" the guild master just smiled hearing the shout.
