The streets of Orange Town were still quiet, but the air vibrated with tension. Magnus moved silently behind Luffy and Zoro, his eyes scanning every rooftop, alley, and doorway.
The drunken pirates carrying the stolen sacks staggered down the cobblestones, unaware of the three figures following them.
Magnus's sharp gaze noticed every detail the angle of the barrels, the loose tiles on the rooftops, even the faint imprint of footprints leading toward the plaza. He knew the town was a trap waiting to be sprung, and he also knew that Buggy's showmanship would make it dangerous for anyone who walked in unprepared.
Luffy bounced forward, ignoring the tension completely. "Hey! Give that back!" he shouted, voice carrying down the street. The pirates froze, their drunken confidence faltering at the sight of him. Zoro stepped forward silently, his eyes narrowing as he analyzed the pirates' stance. Magnus didn't move, but his mind raced. Every pirate had a pattern, every movement had a rhythm.
A flash of orange leapt across the rooftops. Nami moved with a feline grace, dropping down behind the pirates with the stolen sack clutched tightly. She hadn't noticed the trio yet, but Magnus could see her planning every step. Her eyes flicked to the pirates, calculating distances and escape routes.
One pirate swung his cutlass clumsily, but Nami had already darted out of range.
Luffy laughed and stretched his arms, ready to intervene.
Zoro moved into position, prepared to handle anyone who got in their way.
Magnus stayed back, letting the others act while he analyzed the battlefield. His mind traced every possible outcome. He noticed a pile of barrels on the side street that could topple at the right moment, and a narrow alley that could serve as an escape or a choke point.
Magnus's mind was already several moves ahead, calculating, predicting and preparing.
The first barrel toppled, crashing into one of the pirates and sending him sprawling. Luffy charged, shouting gleefully as he leapt into the fray while Zoro moved silently, a shadow striking at the others. Nami danced between them, fast and clever, snatching back the stolen goods with fluid precision.
Magnus stayed still, observing. He noted how Nami's movements were precise, how Luffy's strength created openings, and how Zoro's presence commanded attention. Every element of the fight was a lesson, every movement a story to read. He could intervene at any moment, but for now, he let the others act. He let the chaos teach him, sharpen him, and remind him why he had chosen this path.
The sun climbed higher over the rooftops of Orange Town, casting long shadows on the cobblestones. Magnus's eyes followed every detail.
The town might have seemed abandoned to anyone else, but he could see the life beneath the fear.
The people might have been silenced by Buggy, but Magnus could feel the pulse of the town, the rhythm of opportunity, the spark of hope in the chaos.
As the fight continued below, Magnus allowed himself a small, imperceptible smirk. The battle for Orange Town was only just beginning, and he was ready to learn everything it had to teach him.
