As Wesley was beginning a new journey, some people were almost losing peace over him.
It had almost been three days since the elemental storm had devastated the surroundings of the city. Grog had hired seekers to try to look for Wesley's body, but there was no progress. The seeker organization was like a guild, it dealt in information, whatever you wanted to know you had only to pay some credits for it. They also dealt with searching and retrieval of things if they had been commissioned to do and in and this case they had been commissioned to look and retrieve Wesley with all his belongings. But this came tat a cost. Nothing was free in this world.
The only thing they got to see was broken limbs of outers and destroyed houses.
'How am I going to find the boy in this mess?' he muttered
He had started to panic. His master had warned him again of the consequences if he failed to find the boy.
….........................…................
In a broad room, there was a stone table with four stone chairs placed around it. The room was made of a of metal with gaps accentuated with glass for windows. If you could stand at the windows, you could see that below were black clouds swirling every where but the light that was coming through the window was yellowish and not the grayish light that all people below were used to.
This was the top most room on the spire found in the middle of the city.
The yellow light could not pass through the black clouds easily, that is why nothing grew around the city. Only in some places was light accessible but these places had been taken over by the nobles.
And as if by magic, whoosh, the four chairs had people seated on them. They were all putting on black robes with different patterns on the left of their chests. These patterns showed their different designations.
An imposing burly man with long brown hair and gray hair looked at the rest of his colleagues and nodded. His pattern was a gray square ring with four others lined together in the middle depicting the city they were in.
'Verina and Melina' He greeted the only two females. They looked like they were cut from the same mold with their fair white smooth skin, piercing blue eyes that left a long impression on anyone they gazed at and green blue hair flowing onto heir backs. These two sisters were the owners of the seeker organization and their pattern was a golden ring with a sword in the middle.
'Brune' they nodded back. This man was the city lord.
'Frost, you are cold as ever' Brune nodded to the only remaining person. He had reddish brown hair with black eyes that did not show nay emotion. His pattern was a pick axe symbolizing the mines.
'Hmph' Frost grunted back.
'This city is dying, the elemental storms are increasing in strength and in number'' Brune said in an overbearing tone as he looked at everyone.
'Do we have a solution for this problem and do not forget we have another pending issue. The land surrounding our city is being taken over by the same ore that we mine to get our credits. Its like a living thing devouring everything to turn into stone and its rate has begun to increase. Mutated animals have appeared mostly in the mines and around the city. They keep on attacking everything they see. I think its due the ore' he continued on.
'Can we request help from Vine city? There is no precedence of this ore in their city?' Verina who seemed to be easy going asked in a gentle tone.
'They wont help with out taking fifty percent of the profits from the mines. I already did ask.' Frost answered in a cold tone.
'oh, then what should we do? Are we going to abandon this city because I am not ready for that.' quipped Melina. The voices of Verina and Melina were so similar, it was uncanny.
The three turned and looked at Brune waiting for his say. He was the strongest them all and was at the seventh stage of the warriors level.
He tapped his fingers on the stone table and said in a cold voice.
'Frost you are in charge of the mines, Increase the number of miners and guards for the beginning. The guards will once in while do sweep in the mine to kill off those mutated animals in the mines and around the city. We can't do anything about the storms for now.' he added on in a careless tone.
I will go to Vine city and renegotiate the percentage with their city lord but if I fail, we shall have to abandon this city.' he continued on.
'If there is nothing else, then have a nice day.' he said as he disappeared from the room.
'Hmph, he only cares about his life' Melina and Verina spoke at the same time as they also disappeared.
When all the rest of the people had disappeared, Frost got up and walked to the glass windows and looked down. In his hand was a black cube with strange patterns. The cube would deform from solid to liquid form and then back to solid.
And as it continued changing forms, the black clouds would start moving like they were about to start forming an elemental storm.
A small black light flashed in his eyes as a he let out a creepy laugh.
