"Not really, Lord Beerusā¦" Whis said calmly, but his eyes were sharp. "I have a feeling things aren't that simple."
With a thought, Whis let his angelic awareness spread across the endless void, scanning every corner of the Realm of Nothingness for any trace of Goku.
Beerus crossed his arms, scowling. "Well? Did you find him, Whis?"
Whis shook his head, his gaze locked on the darkness aheadāthe exact spot where Goku's power had exploded moments ago.
"If I'm right⦠Goku's power was so overwhelming, it tore apart the barrier of this realm in an instant. That's what caused the time and space turbulence."
Beerus narrowed his eyes. "Meaning"
"He was swept up into it," Whis explained, his voice unusually serious. "He's no longer in the Realm of Nothingness."
Even Whis hadn't expected a mortal to break the world's barriers with raw power. For someone like Goku, the outcome was either survival in another world⦠or being lost forever in the chaos of time and space.
"ā¦So you're saying," Beerus muttered, "he could be anywhere? Another universe⦠another timeline?"
Whis nodded. "It could be millions of years in the past⦠or a future far beyond what anyone can see. Or even⦠an entirely different world altogether."
Beerus fell silent, his expression grim. The thought of such a warrior disappearing unsettled even him.
"Hmph. What a wasteā¦" Beerus muttered. But deep down, he knew he'd remember the name of that Saiyan. Even if Goku truly vanished, he wouldn't forget him.
Whis suddenly extended his staff. "Still⦠one remains."
A flash of angelic power pulled Vegetaābarely aliveāout of the void.
"ā¦Vegeta." Beerus frowned but didn't strike. "No point finishing him. I've had enough fun today."
"Let's go, Lord Beerus," Whis said gently.
"ā¦Yeah." Beerus placed a hand on Whis' shoulder, and in an instant, the two vanished into the endless void.
Back on Earth.
Through Whis' light projection, everyone saw it: Goku had vanished.
"Gokuā¦" Chi-Chi collapsed to her knees, crying.
"Dad⦠disappearedā¦" Goten's voice shook as anger burned in his eyes.
Beerus had taken his father away. To him, that meant the God of Destruction was the enemy.
"It's okay⦠Dad will come back. He has toā¦" Gohan tried to calm his family, but even he struggled to believe it. Deep down, though, he felt the fire ignite within himāif Goku never returned, then he, Gohan, would carry his father's will and surpass the Gods.
In the King's Palace.
The Grand Priest smiled faintly, watching the chaos unfold. "Breaking the barrier of a world⦠impressive. Now let's see where the turbulence of time and space will take you, Son Goku⦠and what stories will follow."
With a wave of his hand, light gathered, showing the path of Goku within the time-space tunnel.
Inside the Time-Space Tunnel.
Dragged by the chaotic currents, Goku flew endlessly through the void.
"Tch⦠that weird power pulled me here. How do I get backā¦?" He clenched his fists, his body still in his new formāSuper Saiyan 5.
The tunnel stretched on without end. Wave after wave of time distortions slammed into him, each one deadly enough to tear a mortal apart. Only his transformation kept him alive. But if his power ran outā¦
Am I really gonna be trapped here forever?! Goku thought, gritting his teeth.
Thenālight.
"There!!!" Goku's eyes widened. Gathering all his strength, he pushed forward, racing toward the light. He smashed through it with a roar.
Another World ā Year 799 A.D.
This was a world twenty years beyond Dragon Ball Super, one where peace had been shattered not by the Shadow Dragons⦠but by an even darker god.
After Trunks had killed Dabura and Babidi, preventing Majin Buu's rise, Earth had known peace⦠for a short while. But that peace didn't last. Something far worse than Buu came, plunging the planet into despair.
High above the mountains of West City, the air rippled violently.
A crack split open in the skyā
And out of it, Goku burst from the time tunnel, crashing down onto the peaks.
"ā¦Finally⦠I made it outā¦" he muttered, breathing hard, his eyes scanning this strange new world.
Relaxing his mind and body, Goku powered down from Super Saiyan 5 and looked around.
"Where⦠where am I? Did I make it back to Earth after passing through that tunnel? But⦠why do I sense so little life here?!"
Before he could relax, Goku realized something terrifying.
The Earth he stood on was wrapped in a doomsday atmosphere. The skies were dark, the air was heavy with despair and death.
From the mountain peak, he looked into the distanceāwhat he saw made his heart sink.
"That's⦠West Cityā¦"
Once the most advanced, lively city on Earth, now nothing more than ruins. In the vast city, only a few hundred people remained alive.
And that was just one city. Across the whole planet, Earth was nearly dead. It looked more like a dying world than the home he once fought so hard to protect.
Back in his own time, billions of humans, animals, and creatures filled the Earth. The planet overflowed with life.
But now, his senses only picked up a few thousand.
"No way⦠How could this happen?! What turned Earth into⦠this?!"
His fists clenched, anger boiling inside him. Even if this wasn't his Earth, it was still Earthāthe planet he swore to protect.
Just as his rage grew, Goku's sharp senses picked up two strong energy signatures. He paused, focusing carefully.
"Wait a sec⦠that's Trunks' ki! And⦠what?! That other one feels just like mine!"
But something was wrong. The second aura might've felt like his, but it was twistedāoverflowing with hatred and evil.
"...That's not me," Goku muttered, eyes narrowing.
Without wasting another second, he suppressed his own energy and used Instant Transmission to head straight for West City.
Meanwhile, in West Cityā¦
Future Trunks, dressed in torn, dirty clothes, crept through the ruined sewers, trying his best to hide his power. Once the savior of this world, he was now reduced to crawling underground just to survive.
Above him, on the ruined streets, stood a figure in a black giāa cruel smile stretching across his face.
It was the monster responsible for all this destruction⦠Goku Black.
After stealing Goku's body through the power of the Super Dragon Balls, Zamasu had come to this timeline to carry out his twisted "Zero Mortals Plan." He killed the gods, wiped out almost all humans, and left only a handful aliveājust to torment Trunks further.
"Run, Trunks. Run as far as you want," Goku Black taunted, walking slowly. "No matter where you hide, I'll always find you. Our little game is far from over."
His eyes glowed with madness as he followed Trunks' energy trail.
From a rooftop nearby, the real Goku watched in shock.
"That guy⦠he looks just like me! But his ki⦠it's pure evil. And Trunksāhe's hiding from him. Don't tell me he's the reason this world turned into such a nightmare!"
At Capsule Corp's ruinsā¦
Trunks finally reached what was left of his home. He pushed open a hidden manhole and slipped inside. Below the rubble, there was still a secret underground lab.
Waiting for him was Bulma.
But she wasn't the Bulma Goku remembered. Years of disasters, battles, and constant fear had aged her. She looked older, worn down not just by time but by endless suffering. Still, her sharp eyes and strong will remainedāshe was still Bulma.
She had been working non-stop to complete one last hope: the time machine. With it, Trunks could escape this ruined world and get help.
But just as Trunks entered the lab, another shadow approached from above. Goku Black had found them, his grin widening.
He couldn't wait to see the look on Trunks' face when they met again.
Unseen by both of them, the real Goku hid his energy and followed quietly. He had also sensed Bulma's ki deep underground.
His anger flared, but he forced himself to stay calm. This wasn't the time to charge in recklessly.
