"Mom…" Trunks' voice broke the silence, bringing Bulma back to her senses.
"Trunks…" Bulma's tired face lit up with a warm smile.
After more than half a year apart, mother and son finally embraced. For a moment, the ruined world around them didn't matter.
Trunks knew his mission. Bulma knew it was time.
Time to put an end to this nightmare.
"Trunks, the fuel for the time machine is ready. Go back to the past. Find Goku. He'll save this world again." Bulma placed her hands on her son's shoulders.
"Yeah," Trunks answered, his eyes filled with determination.
If he could get help from Son Goku twenty years ago, maybe—just maybe—this future could still be saved.
Bulma walked to a console and picked up a small capsule-shaped container. Inside it glowed the energy for the time machine. It wasn't full, but it was enough for one trip.
She handed it to Trunks like she was passing him the entire hope of the world.
"Trunks, you're the last hope we have."
"Mom…" Trunks' throat tightened. Deep down, he didn't want to leave her. He wished he could fight beside her until the end. But he wouldn't go against her will.
"Don't cry now. You're not a kid anymore. Go! The time machine is in the yard," Bulma said with a warm but firm smile. "It's all up to you."
"…I'll be back, Mom." Trunks clenched the container and turned to leave.
But before he could take more than a few steps—
A mocking voice came from the shadows.
"How touching… a mother and son reunion."
A black-and-orange blast shot out from the darkness.
"Mom!!!" Trunks shouted, rushing to protect her.
But it was too late.
The explosion tore through the lab with a deafening boom. Fire and smoke swallowed everything. Bulma wasn't hit directly, but the shock knocked her down, leaving her too weak to move.
Black Goku stepped out of the flames, smirking.
"The mother of a sinner must pay for her son's crimes."
"Stop it, you bastard!!!" Trunks roared, his rage boiling over.
But Bulma raised her voice with all the strength she had left.
"Trunks! Go! Leave me! Hurry!"
"I… I can't…" Trunks' body trembled, torn between duty and his mother.
"You listen to me!!!" Bulma snapped, her voice sharper than ever before.
Trunks froze. Then, gritting his teeth, he turned and ran toward the backyard. His heart ached, but he knew what had to be done.
Bulma's eyes followed him until he was gone. Then she turned back to face Black Goku.
That face… once it had given her and everyone else hope. Now, twisted with malice, it had come to kill her.
"Your son abandoned you," Black Goku sneered, stretching his hand toward her throat.
Bulma closed her eyes. Tears streamed down her face.
(Vegeta… Goku… everyone… I'll be with you soon…)
But just as death closed in—
"Don't you dare lay a finger on her."
A powerful voice shook the air.
Black Goku froze. He turned, only to see a familiar figure standing there—radiating overwhelming energy.
"W-Who are you?!" Black Goku shouted, throwing a punch in panic.
BOOM!
The strike was caught effortlessly.
"Son… Son Goku?!!" Black Goku's eyes widened in terror. The Goku of this world was long dead… so who was this?!
Goku said nothing. His cold stare cut right through him. Then, with one explosive punch, he sent Black Goku flying like a cannonball, smashing through ruins and vanishing far into the distance.
Bulma opened her eyes at the sound. For a moment, she thought it was Black Goku playing tricks. But then—she saw him. The man she had missed day and night.
"Leave the rest to me, Bulma," Goku said gently, smiling down at her.
"Goku… are you here to… take me away…?" she whispered before passing out, finally letting her body rest after years of endless fear.
Goku caught her, gently laying her in a safe corner. He looked at her sleeping face and smiled softly.
"When you wake up… it'll all be over."
Then he stood. The smile faded, his expression turning colder than ever.
For the first time, Son Goku was truly angry.
Walking out of the ruined underground lab, Goku stepped onto the surface.
He suddenly noticed something strange to his right. Turning his head, he saw the time machine slowly rise into the air before vanishing in an instant.
"…So, Trunks already left?" Goku muttered. He didn't pay much attention. Right now, there was only one thing on his mind—destroy the monster that turned Earth into this nightmare.
He raised two fingers to his forehead, locked onto Goku Black's ki, and vanished with Instant Transmission.
Far away, buried under rubble, a surge of dark energy shattered the boulders. Goku Black staggered out, trembling, his body wrecked from the earlier blow.
"Tch… what a punch…" he muttered, rubbing his head with a twisted grin.
At that moment, Goku appeared only a few meters in front of him. Black's eyes sharpened instantly, his pain vanishing as rage took over.
"Goku… which time are you from?" he demanded, glaring.
"You don't need to know," Goku replied coldly, unwilling to waste words.
"Hmph… arrogant," Goku Black sneered. "But finally, an opponent I can take seriously. Playing around with Trunks was boring anyway. You, though—you're the Goku of this world. You've already died once, and I'll kill you again."
He spoke with arrogant confidence, convinced of his own superiority.
Goku only frowned. "You sure talk a lot of nonsense."
In the next instant, his normal power level erupted. A crushing aura exploded outward, shaking the air itself. The overwhelming pressure forced Goku Black back step by step.
"Wh–what?! This ki… It's impossible! Just how far into the future are you from?!" Goku Black shouted in disbelief.
Before he could recover, Goku moved. In a blur of speed, he appeared in front of Black and launched a devastating punch.
BOOM!
Black raised his arms to block, but the strike shattered his guard instantly, sending him flying. Goku didn't stop—he teleported behind him and slammed a kick into his back, launching him skyward.
Blood spewed from Goku Black's mouth, his bones cracking under the pressure.
[Impossible…! I have Goku's body too! How can his power be this much higher than mine?!] Black's mind reeled as he coughed blood, unable to accept it.
But Goku wasn't finished. He appeared above Black in an instant, clasped his fists together, and brought them down like a hammer.
"!!" Black's eyes widened in horror. Every cell in his body screamed danger. Desperately, he crossed his arms over his chest—
CRACK—BOOOOM!!
The impact tore through him, blood spraying as his pupils went dim. His body plummeted, smashing into the earth and carving out a massive crater.
When the dust settled, Goku Black lay broken at the center, bloodied and helpless. His arms were shattered, his chest crushed, his organs bleeding heavily. For anyone else, this would have been instant death. But his Saiyan body and divine soul kept him alive—barely.
"…Why…? I'm Goku too… under the same body… why am I being crushed like this…?" he thought, despair twisting in his eyes.
Hovering above, Goku looked down coldly. He had expected someone wearing his face to be strong. Instead, the fight was one-sided.
"…Pathetic. Still, beating someone who looks just like me… can't lie, it feels strange." Goku clenched his fists, his anger burning hotter. "But you… you destroyed this Earth. That's unforgivable!"
He lowered his stance, cupping his hands at his waist. Bright blue energy gathered between his palms, the familiar hum of the Kamehameha filling the air.
"DAMN IT!!" Goku Black cursed, fear flashing in his eyes. He knew—if that attack hit, he was done. Desperate, he reached out with his mind.
Meanwhile, far to the north, Zamasu was calmly making tea, savoring the aroma.
"As long as I cleanse the world of humans, even my tea art improves," he murmured with pride. "Still, I wonder… has my other self finished with Trunks yet? What's the point of letting that Saiyan live? It'd be simpler to kill him outright."
Though dissatisfied with Goku Black's methods, he reminded himself—they were one and the same.
But suddenly, a desperate voice echoed in his mind.
[Hurry… save me…!]
Zamasu's eyes widened. It was Goku Black's voice.
"…What?!" For a moment, he was shocked. Then, without hesitation, he vanished, teleporting to Goku Black's location.
