Raven was waiting at the company's glass entrance, a bright smile accompanied his face, his feet fidgeting with excitement.
He started this habit from the second day at the company, and he came earlier on purpose just to do it.
His face stiffened and his smile vanished at Sorrell's sight. Unlike other days, he was wearing a black mask and glasses. Sorrell noticed Raven, knowing that Raven would bombard him with questions, he quickly walked past him to his office without greeting him.
Raven's heart sank as he followed him with fast steps. Just as Sorrell reached for the lock of his office, Raven shoved the door open.
Large black glasses were covering Sorrell's eyes up to the cheeks the mask covered the rest of the face, but his forehead and the gap between mask and glasses had hints of bruises.
Raven's breath trembled as his body went numb. "What happened?"
"Nothing. Is the material ready for the meeting?" Sorrell threw a question instead.
Raven clawed one of his hands on Sorrell's shoulder, "Just tell me what happened?"
"None of your business," Sorrell almost shouted, trying to escape his grip, but it was useless.
Raven grabbed his other shoulder with the other hand, "It's your Alpha, right? He physically assaulted you?"
Sorrell felt like he couldn't escape from Raven's grip. He tried to pull his fragile body out of his grip, but it was useless. Sorrell, who was assaulted physically for hours, felt like Raven was bullying him and started crying, "Let go of me! You are hurting me."
All the pains he was hiding flooded out in the form of tears.
Raven quickly let go of him and started apologizing, "I am sorry, I am really sorry. Please don't cry." Raven's heart felt like being stabbed by every single tear that fell out of Sorrell's eyes. "Or do you want to hug me and cry?"
He spread his arms.
Sorrell snapped out of it, quickly wiped his tears under the glasses rim, and walked away with speedy steps.
Raven looked at him walking away, clenched his hands so tight that his nails dug into his flesh, and thought, "Is his Alpha back already?"
Raven closed his eyes, a failed attempt to ease his anger, and walked to the meeting room.
During the lunch break, Raven held Sorrell's hand and dragged him to the rooftop. He looked around and took a deep breath before turning to Sorrell. "I am sorry about what happened in the morning. I just... I just hate abusive partners so much that....."
"But how did you know about my Alpha?" Sorrell interrupted with a question.
"You are always looking at that damn ugly ring, so I just took a guess."
"What an accurate guess," Sorrell's tone was sarcastic. "How would you know I'm dating an Alpha? I could be dating a Beta, moreover, how do you know I was assaulted by my Alpha? I could've gotten into a fight."
"That's right!" Raven took a deep breath while thinking. "I made a slip under blazing emotions."
"'Cause I know your damn Alpha, he is always bragging about his omega being pretty and giving. He was showing your pictures and bragging about beating you to a pulp and you still let him sleep with you right after the beating. Who wouldn't remember it? I recognised you right away as I saw you at the company for the first time," Raven didn't stop until he was done with his lies. He couldn't say that he did a background check on him, including everything personal, and he knew that Sorrell knew nothing about his Alpha's life outside.
Sorrell stumbled at that, he thought he was hiding the fact that his partner was abusive, but it was not true. Raven's words pierced deep into his chest, making his eyes cloud.
"I know that bastard very well," Raven continued, approaching Sorrell and closing the distance between them, "He is too lucky to have you as a lover, but unfortunately he doesn't know it."
Sorrell felt ashamed that Raven knew about his weakness. "But you shouldn't ask me about it at my workplace. We aren't even that close."
"But I was just worried."
"Why?" Sorrell countered. "Why would you worry about my personal matters?"
"Because.... Because I am your co-worker," Raven said, taking another step closer. "If I was injured, wouldn't you worry about me?"
Sorrell chewed on his lips. Raven was right. He would have gotten worried regardless of the fact that he didn't really like him.
Raven's eyes were fixed on Sorrell's face, who was looking down, tears stuck in the corner of his eyes, his lips trembling to hide his pain.
"How about you leave him and come to me," Raven suggested out of nowhere.
Sorrell looked up at him with disbelief. "What the hell are you talking about?"
"You are getting beaten and abused almost every day, isn't that better to leave him?" Raven's voice raised slightly.
"That's because I can't become pregnant," Sorrell shouted without realizing.
"But that's because of his infertility, why is he always punishing you for his reproductive problems?" Raven's voice was as high as Sorrell's.
But his answer rounded Sorrell's eyes. "How do you know about that?"
"I told you I know him," Raven replied confidently, "Don't you know that he advertised every single detail about you?"
Sorrell gulped, looking into Raven's eyes. "That's why you think I'm an easy prey and would fall for your pathetic sympathy? Even though he is abusive, it's all okay as long as I love him." Sorrell walked away right after completing his sentence.
Raven closed his eyes and thought, "I can't bear it. I was going to get closer to you before I said anything, but I can't see you get hurt."
Raven wanted to kick the wall, but he held himself from doing so because he knew the wall would collapse.
