M.C P.O.V
Metal brought me to the building that we were at before his father had decided that their conversation would be better without me and the others there. I looked at Metal as I got to the door, seeing that he was just standing there. I knew that I would have to face his father alone. I took a deep breath to calm my nerves down and walked in. Metal's father was still standing in the center of the room like he had not moved since I last saw him.
I was about to say something, but he beat me to it. "Brother of my youngest, have a seat. I'm not sure if Metal told you, my name is Ikaika," he said, motioning to the mat in front of him. I took the seat, and then he sat down as well. "Metal has already told me, but I would like to know how you met and how you got to the island," he said. I thought about how I should tell him, but then I made the mistake of looking into his eyes. The feeling of powerlessness came over me again, and any thought I had of lying went out the window. So I began by telling him how I woke up in front of the sky chief, then about the eggs and how I ran into Metal fighting the fairy dog. How I saved him and killed it alongside him, and then how I planned on leaving Metal with him. Then about how we made our way here. After hearing all that, he showed no emotion and just sat there with an impassive look on his face.
"It seems we will have to cover a lot then. Let's start with why you haven't told me how you got to the island," he said. I was about to say that I did not know because it was not a lie, but I knew that it would not fly with him. I was thinking of what to say without exposing that I am from another world, but he cut me off. "Would it be because you are not of this world?" he said. I jumped up in shock, not knowing how he found that out. Seeing my fear, he placed a hand on my shoulder. Not getting up, I tried to shake his hand off in panic, but he just kept his hand there, letting me shake but not get too far as my fearful energy left me. After calming down and realizing that if he wanted to hurt me, he would have already, I sat down again, hiding my embarrassment from the interaction.
"I guess you're wondering how I know," he asked, and I nodded, not trusting myself to say too much. "Your kind are not so rare in my homeland. You came from another world through the holes in the sky," he said. Huh, what the hell is that? Wait, I think I heard about that during college. My friend said that new gen had aliens from wormholes. So I guess people can fall out from them like Pokémon. "So do you remember anything about your world or the wormhole?" he asked, breaking me out of my thoughts. "I remember my world, but not the wormhole," I answered. He nodded. "Then would you tell me about it?" he asked. I thought about it. He seemed to be a good person, even if he came across as unemotional, but I don't think I can trust him fully just yet. Seeming to pick up on my thoughts, he asked, "Would you be able to answer my questions? It's nothing personal; I just want to know if any of my kind appeared in your world," he asked.
Not seeing any harm in that question, I answered, "I have not seen any Pokémon like you in my world." It's not a lie because there are no Pokémon in my world, so none like him. He seemed to expect that, but he had an aura of sadness around him for a second. He then said, "Alright, then we should move on to the eggs." "What do you mean?" I asked. What does that mean? Is he going to try and take them away? "Stop those thoughts. I have no thoughts of harming the eggs or taking them from you. I just wish to confirm the suspicion I have after Metal told me about them," he said. He somehow was able to pick up on my thoughts again, but his words seemed truthful, so I let them out of their balls.
The eggs materialized between us, and he then scanned the eggs with a thoughtful look. He then looked at me. "It's what I thought, a titan and an alpha egg," he said. "What's a titan and an alpha?" I asked. "A titan is a very large variant of their species. They are very rare. An alpha is also a larger variant of Pokémon, but much smaller than titans," he answered. That was new. I had never heard of anything like that, so it must be something in this world or from a later game. "How are you able to tell that?" I asked. He looked back at the eggs. "The titan because of its size, the alpha because of its aura. Most likely, it will become an alpha because of the titan egg," he said. I looked at him in confusion. Seeing this, he continued, "A titan, even as an egg, gives off an aura of danger to every Pokémon. Because of that aura, the other egg had to evolve to become stronger. It must have already carried the alpha gene, and that aura forced it to awaken."
Okay, so the Pokémon in the eggs are going to be powerful. I had already figured that out after seeing their mom, but hearing that they were dangerous even for other Pokémon was unsettling. Maybe it would be best to leave them here with Metal. "They can't be left here," he said, once again reading my mind. "Stop doing that, and how are you able to do that, and why not!" I yelled. Not minding my yelling, he said, "I am able to do that because of how aura moves. Your aura is saying what's on your mind." He said, "To anticipate your next question, you seem to have the natural ability to speak and understand aura." He said, "Yes, you should be able to understand other Pokémon if you work at it," he said, not giving me the chance to talk again.
"Alright, I get it, but could you tell me why the eggs can't stay here?" I asked. "If the sky chief was still alive, the alpha would not be much of a problem. Though rare and powerful, an alpha is born in every major clan on this island every dozen years or so. But the titan is too dangerous for all of us. They are naturally aggressive and will try to conquer this island for themselves, and they would be powerful enough to do so," he said. I understood, so the other clans and maybe even they would attack the eggs before they are strong enough to defend themselves. Seeing that I understood, he motioned for me to put the eggs back into the balls.
"Now let's move on to Metal," he said. I looked at him in confusion. Metal would just stay here with him. "Metal cannot stay here either. Other than the fact that he owes you his life, the clan cannot take in anyone who is not of our species," he said. Okay, so they are like lions in the wild, not allowing any other species to live among them. "Now then, for the matter of getting you to human territory, if you have not already understood, there are no other humans on this island," he said, and I nodded.
"Humans make their way onto the island once in a while to catch Pokémon," he said. That lined up with what Metal said. "But they are few and far between. Other than that, there is also a tribe of humans that comes here once every three years. The next time they will be here will be next year. My tribe has an agreement with them that if any of our young wish to travel with them off the island, we will not go against it. They should be able to take you to their land," he said, and I nodded. That seemed like my best option right now. But that meant I would have to stay here for a year, and if they find out about the eggs. "Do not worry about that. While you are here, the eggs and you will be under my protection," he said, reading my aura again. I nodded to him in appreciation. "But do not think that means you will be free to do as you wish while here. You will be treated like any other member of the clan. That means hunting and training with the other members," he said. I nodded, letting him know that I would do my best to pull my weight.
Ikaika P.O.V
After my conversation with my youngest new brother, I brought him out of the hut and led him back to the wahi. After that, I made my way to the council hall. I hoped that Metal had delivered my message to Chief Alakaʻi. Stepping into the hall, I saw that they had all gathered around the table, and the only chair left was mine across from Alakaʻi. Sitting down, I waited for Alaka'i to start the meeting. "Now that all of us have gathered, I call this kauniha into session," she said. After that, she and the other members looked to me to begin. "My fellow members, one of my children has returned to the tribe with news of the sky chief and the steel dragon," I said. They all looked at me with serious concern. After all these years, they still don't understand me. "I am not asking that the clan take him in or the human that accompanied him here. He has brought me news that the sky chief is dead and that the Metal dragon has gone missing," I said.
"That is grave news, Ikaika," Alaka'i said, going into deep thought. The death of any chief is grave news to dragons. This also means that the cold dragons will take over the land that belonged to the sky chief and the other sky dragons. "And what about the other sky dragons?" Ra, our head craftsman, asked. "The young ones were sent off the island before the war," I told them. "As for the older ones, we can assume that they are dead or have left after their chief died," I reasoned. They nodded at my assessment. "Then what about your child and that human?" Alaka'i asked. "They will be sent off when the other humans come," I informed them. They looked at each other, thinking about it. "What about that human's Pokémon, and where will they be staying during this time?" Kahiau, head of our fishing teams, asked.
"The human has no other Pokémon with him, and they will be staying in the tribe and working on my hunting team," I told him. They each exchanged looks, no doubt questioning why I would allow a human to live with us. "Ikaika, don't lie to us. That boy has the aura of a dragon master. There's no way he does not have other Pokémon with him," Alaka'i said. "I speak no lie. The only thing the boy has with him is the two eggs of the sky chief," I said. Alaka'i gave me an examining look, making sure I had not lied to her. "Also, about the eggs, one of them is a titan, and the other is an alpha," I informed them. They looked shocked at that. Alaka'i gave me a hardened look, demanding an explanation. "The eggs were entrusted to the boy by the sky chief, and he will take them with him when they head off the island. In the meantime, while they are here, they will be treated like any other member of the clan," I told them. They looked at each other, deciding if it was worth the risk of keeping a foreign titan around. Alaka'i looked at me again. "Are you willing to take responsibility for it?" she asked. "Yes," I said with my aura. Alaka'i nodded and called the meeting to an end.
