The crowd instinctively gasped. Science clearly couldn't do this. Even destroying a planet might take thousands or tens of thousands of years. Destroying the universe?
Humanity might not even have the capability before its demise.
It was easy to see how terrifying the abilities of the magic side were! The upper limit was ridiculously high.
And this Doctor Strange was the successor chosen by the Sorcerer Supreme, Ancient One, so it was highly likely that the Ancient One also possessed similar abilities.
At this moment, they seemed to understand why Lin Feng was so wary of the Ancient One.
If viewed from this perspective, it seemed reasonable that Dormammu, the lord of the Dark Dimension, could swallow the Earth in one gulp.
They just didn't know what made Thanos so strong.
"No wonder Lin Feng didn't dare to interfere with Stephen Strange's path to becoming Doctor Strange," Nick Fury said, drawing a sharp breath. "If he fails to become Doctor Strange, he'll become the so-called Dark Doctor Strange, turning from a superhero into a supervillain, and potentially destroying the universe!"
Given his usual nature, Fury would typically try to control or eliminate anyone as unstable as Strange, someone who could turn into a major threat at any moment.
But there was genuinely nothing he could do about Doctor Strange.
Not only was he backed by the Sorcerer Supreme, Ancient One, whom they couldn't possibly handle, but after Ancient One died, Strange would have to face the terrifying Dark Dimension's lord, Dormammu.
Moreover, if Strange followed the plan and became Doctor Strange, that would be one thing. But if something went wrong and he became the so-called Dark Doctor Strange, he could destroy the entire universe.
This man was incredibly difficult to deal with.
No wonder Lin Feng had to stay away.
"We need to be very careful in how we handle him!" Tony Stark said. "He might be the most troublesome person we've ever had to deal with!"
Everyone nodded in agreement. No one else, regardless of their strength, had such far-reaching influence, leaving them in a difficult position – whether to get involved or not.
"Furthermore, we previously speculated that the concept of Timelines mentioned in Lin Feng's diary referred to countless possibilities for the future. However, it seems that it's not just possibilities, but that such universes may actually exist! Different Timelines correspond to different universes!" Tony Stark said.
"What are you getting at?" Nick Fury asked, a bit puzzled.
Tony Stark paused, then said, "What I'm saying is, Lin Feng's diary once mentioned that there might be many so-called incorrect Timelines, which would be dealt with. Are we currently in a so-called incorrect Timeline? For example, this Stephen Strange becomes Doctor Strange to protect Earth. If this is the correct Timeline, then an incorrect one would be if he made a mistake during this process and became Dark Doctor Strange. Can we be certain that we are not currently on this incorrect Timeline? Can we be certain that our future doesn't point towards this incorrect future? And there may be many, many such incorrect futures. What should we do?"
Everyone fell silent upon hearing this. Undoubtedly, this was beyond their capabilities to handle.
After a moment, Nick Fury could only say, "To quote a saying from Lin Feng's hometown, 'Do your best and leave the rest to fate.' We have no choice but to strive to achieve the so-called correct Timeline!"
"Why do I feel like, since Lin Feng's diary appeared, the problems we have to deal with have instantly gone from normal difficulty to a hellish level? Before, the most I had to do was go on missions to deal with vampires, werewolves, or some terrorists. Now, it's either shooting a god, or saving the Earth, saving the universe, or even saving the Timeline. It's like playing a game, and as soon as you leave the newbie village, the final boss is waiting for me. This feeling is just awful!" Hawkeye Barton couldn't help but complain.
Everyone nodded in agreement. Look at these crises: the simplest is an alien invasion, and then there are even greater ones like the Earth being swallowed whole, or the Timeline and the entire universe collapsing. Suddenly, they felt so powerless.
As they were complaining, a new video suddenly updated in Lin Feng's diary.
"Doctor Strange peaked right away. Everything after that was just garbage!"
Everyone's eyes lit up, and Tony Stark quickly clicked on the video in the diary, projecting it for everyone to see. They all began to watch.
The first thing that appeared was Doctor Strange, Stephen Strange, and Baron Mordo, both in their wizarding robes. They looked very disheveled, and everyone could tell they'd just been through a tough battle.
Not far from Tony Stark in the mansion's basement was another projection. It was the information Jarvis had just pulled from the internet about Stephen Strange. In it, Stephen Strange was shown flamboyantly wearing various high-end custom suits, each one seemingly very expensive.
They might even be more expensive than the ones Tony Stark wore, because Tony Stark, being a typical nouveau riche American, didn't put much emphasis on his clothing.
Just at first glance, Tony Stark felt a bit uncomfortable. It was simple: a show-off had met an even bigger show-off, and he'd met his match.
Even though this Stephen Strange was just a surgeon, and his wealth wasn't even a fraction of his, his show-off attitude was just as good.
This was the mutual dislike between two show-offs.
And the Doctor Strange in the diary video, dressed as a sorcerer, had a sense of shedding all his ostentation, looking incredibly world-weary.
Without those incredibly flashy suits, he finally wasn't so annoying.
The scene showed ruins everywhere, looking like it was in a city, but it was impossible to tell where, though it was easy to imagine how intense the fighting had been.
Doctor Strange, Stephen Strange, emerged from a portal, looking quite dejected.
What he had just experienced was, without a doubt, a massive shock to him.
"She's dead!" Doctor Strange, Stephen Strange, said at this moment.
"You're right, she wasn't what I thought she was!" Baron Mordo said sadly, now realizing that everything Doctor Strange had told him before was true.
The Sorcerer Supreme, Ancient One, was not right.
