Chapter 41 - Why Dormammu Can't Directly Descend

"She's really conflicted!" Doctor Strange said, looking uncomfortable.

He understood the Ancient One to some degree, but he knew it wasn't right.

"The Dark Dimension is full of danger!" Baron Mordo said without hesitation. "What if she's consumed? She tells us not to do it, but she herself has been drawing energy from it, maintaining her life for hundreds of years!"

The information in this conversation was huge, and everyone listened carefully. The Dark Dimension? Was that what Lin Feng had called the Dark Dimension previously?

Someone could draw energy from the Dark Dimension and even maintain their life for hundreds of years?

Without a doubt, if this news spread to the world, it would drive countless people in power crazy. They would do anything for longevity, but they had no other choice, and could only rely on technology to extend their lives.

Even Nick Fury knew more. He knew that in human society, there was a group called the Hag Ghosts. These people were powerful and influential, respected figures in human society with immense power. However, they were willing to serve vampires, hoping to be turned into vampires themselves in the future.

Although they would become bloodthirsty and unable to move during the day, their lifespan would be greatly enhanced.

They didn't consider this a curse, but a blessing.

These people mingled within human society, providing vampires with significant advantages, which was one of the most difficult aspects of dealing with them over the years.

These Hag Ghosts abandoned their human dignity in pursuit of immortality.

If they knew of a way to achieve immortality, even in the perilous Dark Dimension, they would undoubtedly rush towards it without hesitation.

So, who was the "she" they were referring to? Was it the Ancient One, the Sorcerer Supreme?

The crowd harbored some doubts.

However, it was evident that while energy could be drawn from the Dark Dimension, there would definitely be severe consequences, which explained their strong aversion to it.

Facing Baron Mordo's questioning, Doctor Strange could only defend, saying, "She did what she believed was right!"

"She will pay a price eventually. Haven't you noticed that it was precisely because of her forbidden actions that Dormammu gained countless fanatical supporters? Kaecilius was also a grave mistake she made. Not only that, but we, too, ultimately became her pawns!" Baron Mordo said with immense grief.

In his view, this was a betrayal. He couldn't understand the Ancient One's actions; it was a betrayal of his own beliefs.

And all this crisis was precisely because the Ancient One had violated her own beliefs, violating the oaths of a sorcerer.

"The world is in peril…" Baron Mordo said viciously.

All of this was brought about by the Ancient One.

"The Sanctum has been destroyed, and the New York Sanctum has been attacked twice!" Doctor Strange spoke. "You know their next target…"

Baron Mordo was still dwelling on the Ancient One's supposed energy absorption from the Dark Dimension, but for Doctor Stephen Strange, what was truly important was dealing with the current end-of-the-world situation.

Although he was older, he was more like a flower in a greenhouse that hadn't experienced any storms. He was too fixated on the so-called darkness, light, justice, and evil.

"Hong Kong…" Baron Mordo quickly stated the location of the last Sanctum; after all, although he hated the Ancient One's hypocrisy, he knew what was most important.

"You once told me that battle is like life hanging by a thread, and one day, it will be so. Today is that day. I alone cannot defeat him!" Doctor Strange looked at Baron Mordo with some anticipation.

Baron Mordo nodded in agreement, and Doctor Strange immediately opened a Portal. The two stepped through, arriving in Hong Kong.

A Portal?

Everyone watching was astonished that the sorcerers possessed such an ability. They couldn't believe that something that only existed in magical novels was actually real.

The scientific explanation was that the sorcerers could create stable, miniature wormholes for travel.

Science achieving such a feat was practically impossible.

Magic was truly amazing.

Hong Kong was now a scene of rubble and destruction.

"The Sanctum has collapsed!" Doctor Strange announced.

Those watching the scene outside the frame frowned, undoubtedly realizing the disparity in the two sorcerers' abilities.

No wonder Doctor Strange would become Doctor Strange, the savior of Earth. The scope is indeed different.

Everyone also reacted to the scene, realizing this was the incident mentioned in Lin Feng's diary, when Dormammu, the Dark Dimension's overlord, invaded Earth. Otherwise, it wouldn't be described as the world hanging by a thread.

Furthermore, the Sanctum mentioned by the two people caught Nick Fury's attention. He silently recorded the term in his mind. Two Sanctums had already been destroyed, one in New York and the other likely in Hong Kong. What about the remaining one?

Why would Dormammu's invasion involve destroying the Sanctums?

He had a million questions swirling in his head, but no answers.

Or perhaps, these Sanctums were related to Dormammu's ability to descend?

These demon gods were certainly constrained by some kind of power. Otherwise, as Lin Feng had said, Dormammu could even swallow Earth whole, what a terrifying power that would be.

These Sanctums were very likely the key to preventing Dormammu's arrival.

He made up his mind to find these so-called Sanctums, not to destroy them, but to protect them.

Since the Sanctums were the key to preventing Dormammu's arrival, they needed to be protected.

He never placed his hopes on Doctor Strange. If he could, he would prefer to protect Earth himself.

At this moment, in the image, endless darkness stretched into the distance, flashing with various sinister energies. Numerous bolts of dark energy crackled, as if a terrifying dimension was about to descend.

Even through the screen, everyone could feel a dark, evil aura surging towards them, incredibly terrifying.

They could even personally experience how evil the energy within the Dark Dimension was, and immediately understood how dangerous it was, as Baron Mordo had said, to absorb the Dark Dimension's energy.

His concerns were not unreasonable.
