Chapter 36 - CHAPTER 35

IN THE LIMO

Mike carefully laid Mirabel down. "To the nearest hospital!"

"Okay, sir," the driver answered, speeding away.

When they arrived, Mike carried her inside, panic in his voice. "Doctor! Where's the fucking doctor?!"

A nurse rushed over with a stretcher. Mike laid Mirabel down, and they wheeled her into the ward. He paced back and forth, restless, while the others sat silently. Flora finally stood and touched his arm.

"Mike, you need to calm down."

"But—"

"No buts. She just fainted. You're making me and the baby nervous," Flora said firmly, pressing her hand to her stomach.

Mike exhaled shakily, then slumped into a chair. Minutes later, the doctor emerged.

THE DOCTOR'S NEWS

"How is my granddaughter?" Roshan asked anxiously.

"How is she?" Mike demanded at the same time.

The doctor smiled reassuringly. "She only needs rest. By tomorrow, she'll be fine."

Everyone sighed in relief—until the doctor continued.

"She must not stress herself too much."

"Why?" Mike asked, brows furrowing.

"Because she's three weeks pregnant. She fainted from stress. Congratulations—she can be discharged tomorrow." With that, the doctor walked away, leaving silence behind him.

Everyone stared at each other in shock.

"Pregnant?!" Mike exclaimed. "How can she be pregnant?"

"Who's the father?" Flora asked, eyes narrowing.

All eyes turned toward Tracy.

"Don't look at me! I don't know either. Ask her when she wakes up," Tracy said, throwing her hands up.

They finally looked away, but the tension remained heavy in the air.

Roshan placed a hand on Mike's shoulder. "Don't stress yourself further. Go home, both of you. Tracy too, I will stay with her"

"No. I'm her best friend. I'm staying too," Tracy insisted.

"Fine," Roshan sighed. He and Flora left in the limo, leaving Mike and Tracy behind. They sat by Mirabel's side through the night until exhaustion pulled them into sleep.

THE NEXT MORNING

Mirabel slowly opened her eyes, disoriented. Where the hell am I? The last thing she remembered was the party.

Tracy stirred and smiled faintly. "You're awake."

"Where am I?"

"The hospital."

"Why?"

"You passed out yesterday."

Mirabel frowned. "How did I get here? Did you carry me?"

Tracy shook her head. "No. Your brother did." Then she explained everything that happened.

The door opened, and Mike walked in with food. "You're awake." Relief flooded his voice.

"Hmm."

He rushed to her side, hugging her and kissing her hand. "I already paid for your discharge. Once you eat, we'll go home."

Mirabel nodded. Mike handed Tracy a bag, then unfolded a small table and set food before her.

"You need to eat it all."

Mirabel's eyes widened at the spread. "Why did you give me so much? Rice, chicken soup, meat… Why? I don't eat this much." She glanced at Tracy. "Tracy, did you know about this?"

Tracy looked away nervously.

"Tell me what?" Mirabel pressed.

Mike met her gaze, steady and serious. "Mirabel… you're pregnant."
