Chapter 25 - Chapter 25: Maguire's Plan

Maguire was more than satisfied with how obedient his new "little brother" was. The Puppet Talisman had worked flawlessly.

Just then, the familiar chime of the system rang in his mind.

> **\[Congratulations, Host, for gaining 20 Bully Points.]**

> **\[Villain Character Bonus: +20 Points.]**

> **\[Total gained: 40 Points.]**

> **\[Current Bully Points: 75.]**

> **\[Note: The bullying method used was rather mild. Reward reduced accordingly.]**

Seeing his total creep back toward 100, Maguire felt quite pleased. Kingpin was too useful to break — maiming him by accident would be an inconvenience.

"Little King," Maguire said casually, "how much cash flow do you have at the moment?"

Fisk replied instantly, voice full of deference.

"Reporting to Boss — I currently control ten billion US dollars in liquid assets."

Had anyone from New York's underworld seen the scene, their jaws would have hit the floor. The feared Emperor of the Streets, the man whose name could quiet a crying child, bowing like a dutiful son to a teenager who looked like he'd just left high school.

Maguire, however, only sighed inwardly.

*Ten billion? I thought the city's crime boss would have at least fifty or eighty billion in cash lying around. Guess it'll have to do.*

Truth was, Fisk's cash on hand wasn't as outrageous as Maguire had imagined. Keeping lieutenants paid and greasing the palms of the city's upper crust didn't come cheap.

Still, the thought crossed Maguire's mind — with this kind of backing, it was time to improve Uncle Ben and Aunt May's situation.

But knowing them, suddenly coming into a massive fortune would only make them suspicious — worried he'd done something illegal.

He'd need a cover story.

His eyes flicked to Fisk.

*Actually… I can make this work.*

**Thirteenth Street District — Parker Residence**

A police cruiser pulled up outside the modest home. Stepping out was none other than George Stacy, captain of the NYPD.

After Maguire had left the earlier scene, officers arrived quickly, taking Bullseye, Eisen, and the others into custody.

But on the way to the precinct, Bullseye had upheld the assassin's code — biting down on poison and killing himself before he could be interrogated.

Back at the station, with no leads left, both Eisen and Erica had mentioned a young man in a black suit.

Hearing that, George Stacy immediately pictured Maguire. He pulled street camera footage and confirmed it — the young man was indeed Maguire.

When Eisen and Erica described his abilities, George was taken aback.

*Maguire's skills… and that strange ability to pull someone back from dozens of meters away — he's not as simple as he looks. I'll need to think carefully about him and Gwen.*

For now, procedure demanded he speak with Maguire. But when he went to pull his file, there was nothing matching that name or age.

Calling his daughter, he learned Maguire's real name: Peter Parker.

No time to ask why "Peter" was now "Maguire" — George drove straight to the Parker home.

---

It was already 8 p.m. Normally, Peter would be home well before seven.

Uncle Ben and Aunt May were getting restless.

"Why isn't Peter back yet?"

"Do you think something happened to him?"

"If he doesn't show soon, we should call the police."

They were mid-discussion when the doorbell rang.

Both hurried to answer it — and found George Stacy himself standing there.

Recognizing him from news and television, Ben frowned.

"Good evening, Captain. What brings you here?"

Aunt May's voice trembled.

"Has something happened to Peter?"

George shook his head.

"Is Peter home? I need to speak with him."

"He hasn't come back yet!" May said, alarm rising.

And just then, the low purr of an engine reached them.

A long black limousine rolled slowly toward the house.
