Chapter 27 - Chapter 27: Green Tea Mary Jane's Little Tricks

Hearing Maguire's words, Uncle Ben and Aunt May exchanged puzzled looks.

"You said what, Peter? You've struck it rich?"

Maguire pulled a neatly folded contract from his bag — forged, of course, by Fisk's people.

On paper, it showed Fisk Industries purchasing one of "Maguire's" biotech inventions for a cool ten million dollars.

Given Peter's reputation in their eyes as a gifted student, it wasn't unbelievable that he could invent something valuable enough to sell.

In truth, Maguire had brought home one of Kingpin's special black cards — with three hundred million dollars in the account, withdrawable in cash with no ID.

---

Uncle Ben took the document from him.

A minute later, his eyes widened in disbelief.

"Ten million dollars… Peter, this is incredible," he said, astonished. "Honestly, I can hardly believe it."

"What's this about ten million?" Aunt May asked quickly, her face full of confusion.

Ben's voice brimmed with excitement.

"May — Peter invented a biotech product. Fisk Industries bought it from him — and paid him ten million!"

Aunt May gasped, almost squealing in surprise.

"My goodness, Peter… is this true?"

Maguire smiled.

"The contract's right here, and the money's already in my account. I didn't tell you before because I wanted it to be a surprise."

Hearing the confirmation, both Ben and May's eyes glistened.

"Peter, we're so proud of you. Your parents… they'd be proud too."

Peter nodded softly.

"Uncle Ben, Aunt May — now that we have money, we can finally live a little better. Let's buy a villa and move. This house is too old."

The two elders exchanged a glance before shaking their heads.

"We're already old, Peter. Where we live doesn't matter. You're still young — even with money, you need to live modestly. Life is a long road."

Maguire thought to himself how genuinely good these two were.

"Uncle Ben, Aunt May… before, I didn't have the means to do more for you. Now I do. If you won't let me, I'll feel guilty for the rest of my life. Is that what you want?"

Tears welled again in their eyes.

"…Alright," Ben said at last. "But just an ordinary house. No need for something too grand."

Maguire nodded.

---

The next morning, he still headed to school as usual.

In truth, he had no plans to keep going — but when he told Ben and May, they both strongly opposed it.

"Money can't replace knowledge," they said. "Knowledge feeds your soul. If your soul rots under money's weight, you're nothing but a walking corpse."

Reluctantly, Maguire boarded the school bus.

Oddly enough, Mary Jane was nowhere to be seen today.

---

Arriving at the school gates, a Rolls-Royce pulled up beside him.

It was Harry's car.

The door opened, and a red-haired young woman stepped out — Mary Jane.

Harry followed right after.

Harry had always treated Peter like a true brother. Seeing him, Harry immediately came over, grinning.

Mary Jane, however, stood by the car, her lips curling in a self-satisfied smile.

*Poor boys will always be poor. You'll never touch a Rolls-Royce in your life. But me? As long as I'm with Harry, wealth and luxury are mine for the taking.*

She lingered by the door, making sure plenty of eyes saw her step out of the luxury car.

Harry reached Maguire first.

"Peter! What've you been up to these past couple of days? You haven't come by."

"I've been busy," Maguire replied easily. "Just wrapped things up yesterday."

He glanced toward Mary Jane.

"So… Harry, is that your girlfriend?"
