10 p.m., deep into the night.
In a section of the underground sewers of New York, streaks of eerie green light flared to life.
A massive figure, illuminated by the glow, began to shrink, slowly morphing back into the size of an ordinary man.
It was none other than the fugitive, Dr. Curt Connors.
Under the joint pursuit of Holland and Garfield's Spider-Men, Connors was clearly no match.
He had seized an opportunity to escape.
Now, under the influence of the green serum, Connors's mind was consumed only by brutality and madness.
This underground chamber was a secret base he had set up just a few days earlier.
He had moved all the experimental equipment from the research institute here.
Muttering to himself, Connors growled,
"Maguire… damn it, you got away today."
"It's all because of those two Spider-Men. Sooner or later, I'll kill the both of you too."
Suddenly, a murderous glint flashed in his eyes.
"If I can't find Maguire for now… Norman Osborn, I'll start with you."
Connors quickly changed his clothes, stuffed several vials of green serum into a backpack, and turned to leave.
…
Meanwhile, at Oscorp Industries—
Inside one of the laboratories, Norman Osborn faced a scientist in a white lab coat.
"How's the progress?" he asked.
The scientist replied,
"Technically, the serum is already complete. We only need to run a few more human trials."
Hearing this, Norman's expression tightened.
Ever since escaping from the Lizard's grasp, he had been dwelling on why that creature's voice had sounded so familiar.
At last, he remembered whose voice it was—Dr. Curt Connors.
As a shrewd and successful man, Norman quickly pieced things together: he had cut Connors's funding, and now the man bore a deep grudge against him.
Puzzled as to how Connors had transformed into such a creature, Norman had sent people to search his old lab.
But when they arrived, the place was a wreck—every piece of equipment and all research data were gone, relocated by the Lizard.
…
Norman knew Connors would not let him go, so he hadn't returned home for the past two days, staying instead at Oscorp Tower, where the security was top-notch.
Lately, in addition to developing new military weapons, Norman had been working on a device to awaken hidden human abilities—an endeavor not unlike the Super Soldier program from World War II.
And today, the project had reached a breakthrough.
…
After hearing the scientist's report, Norman had no patience left to wait.
He had no idea when that green monster might find him and tear him apart.
Turning to the scientist, Norman ordered,
"Use me for the test. Now."
"Sir, that's not possible," the man protested. "If something happens to you, Oscorp will collapse—"
But Norman was in no mood for reason. Grabbing the man by the collar, his face twisted with rage, he snarled,
"Do it. Immediately. Or you're fired!"
The scientist, seeing Norman's resolve, could only nod helplessly.
…
Soon, Norman lay strapped onto the human potential activation device.
With the press of a button, the lab's lights flickered violently.
A roar of pain erupted from Norman as the machine worked on him.
The scientist, alarmed, quickly shut the device down and rushed to Norman's side—
Only to find him unconscious.
Calling his name frantically, the man was startled when, a second later, Norman's eyes flew open—
But his pupils were now an unnatural green.
Before the scientist could react, Norman tore free of the restraints, grabbed him in one massive hand, and hurled him like a ragdoll across the room.
The man slammed hard into the wall.
Norman stood there, his face contorted with madness, eyes blazing with violent intent.
