Chapter 28 - Chapter 28: The Third Spider-Man, Holland

Harry blinked at Maguire's question, momentarily caught off guard.

Following Maguire's gaze, he spotted Mary Jane — and, for the first time in memory, the confident heir actually looked faintly embarrassed.

"No, Peter," Harry said quickly. "We just ran into each other today, so I offered her a ride to school. We're not together. She told me you're neighbors."

A teasing glint appeared in his eyes.

"You don't like her, do you? If you do, I'll keep my distance."

Harry might have been a little interested in Mary Jane, but compared to his best friend, she didn't hold much weight.

Maguire chuckled.

"Like her? Don't be ridiculous. I prefer driving my own car — buses are too crowded."

With that cryptic remark, he walked toward the teaching building, leaving Harry frowning in confusion.

*What's wrong with buses? Doesn't Peter ride one every day?*

Behind them, Mary Jane noticed Maguire walking away and quickly jogged toward Harry.

---

Inside the building, Maguire ran into Garfield. The other Spider-Man clearly had something to say — and Maguire wanted to confirm whether it was Garfield he'd seen at the Brooklyn Bridge.

They moved to a quiet corner.

"So, Garfield," Maguire began with a sly smile, "how about it? The Lizard's got some serious strength, huh?"

Garfield blinked, caught off guard.

"What? Maguire, you think *I* was the Spider-Man at the Brooklyn Bridge? I was about to ask if it was you."

Maguire's mind raced.

*So it wasn't Garfield… then could it be Holland? No way — all three Spider-Men in the same city? Don't tell me Holland's in this school too.*

Before he could think further, a loud crash shook the halls, followed by shrill screams:

"Help! Monster! There's a monster!"

The two of them exchanged a glance — both their spider-senses prickling with danger — and sprinted toward the noise.

---

Soon, a familiar figure came into view: Dr. Curt Connors, in full Lizard form.

Garfield, not recognizing him, muttered, "What the hell is that thing? Never mind, we need to suit up and stop him before the students get hurt."

Maguire stared at him.

"Suit up? You think I've got a costume stashed away like you guys? Change clothes? Really?"

Garfield started to run off — but before either could move, the Lizard was suddenly kicked back several meters.

A figure in a red-and-blue spider suit landed between them and the monster.

Garfield's eyes widened. "Another one? How many of us did that spider bite?"

And just like that, Maguire knew.

*It's him. Holland. He's in this school.*

---

"Get out of here, it's dangerous!" Holland called over his shoulder.

The Lizard roared, charging again — bigger than before, muscles bulging like carved stone. Clearly, he'd dosed himself with even more of the green serum.

His eyes locked on Maguire, lips curling into a hideous grin.

"Maguire… there you are. I've finally found you. Today, I'll kill you!"

Garfield froze.

*That voice… it sounds familiar.*

Before they could speak, Holland lunged to intercept the Lizard, the two clashing in a flurry of speed and power.

Garfield grabbed Maguire's arm and dragged him into the restroom.

"Don't tell me you didn't bring a suit," he said flatly.

Maguire simply raised his hands in mock surrender.

Garfield sighed, rummaging in his backpack before pulling out his own hand-stitched costume.

A moment later, Spider-Man — Garfield edition — was in the fight.

---

In the hallway, Holland and the Lizard tore through the space, blows shaking the walls.

The Lizard's reflexes matched Holland's speed, and his raw strength far exceeded it. Holland was forced into a constant defensive dance, dodging again and again.
