The man who had just smashed through the window was none other than our resident bully — Maguire.
Cruel in his methods, violent in temperament, yet both daring and calculating, Maguire had already thought several steps ahead.
Bullseye had been sent by Kingpin to assassinate Eisen.
Now that Bullseye was crippled, the underground emperor of New York would inevitably come looking for answers.
Maguire wasn't afraid of Kingpin's revenge.
But villains — real villains — would go to any length to strike back.
And while they might not be able to touch him, there were two people they *could* hurt: Uncle Ben and Aunt May.
Good, kind people who had no place in that world.
Bully Maguire had no intention of letting harm come to them.
That's why, the moment he got his hands on the Puppet Talisman, Kingpin instantly became his first target.
Turning Kingpin into a loyal servant would mean access to the vast fortune of Fisk Industries.
His position as the city's crime lord could smooth over countless problems in New York.
Most importantly, it would remove any threat to Ben and May entirely.
Once the plan was set, Maguire headed straight for Fisk Tower.
Finding Kingpin was child's play.
Everyone in New York knew the man worked on the top floor of his own skyscraper.
Despite his criminal empire, Kingpin wasn't a shadowy recluse like other mob bosses.
With his sharp intellect and deep-rooted connections, everyone from the city's elite to Captain George Stacy himself knew exactly who he was — and still couldn't touch him.
No evidence, no means to bring him down.
So the underground emperor walked in the daylight.
---
Now, Kingpin sat in his office, staring at Maguire with a hardened expression.
*This glass can take eight tons of force. Even I can't break it,* he thought.
*But this man just shattered it. That strength… he could crush me.*
And then there was the fact they were on the top floor — over 200 meters high — with no access except by helicopter or the elevator directly to his office.
*No sign of a helicopter… he couldn't have climbed—*
Sorry, but yes, Maguire had climbed.
For someone with Spider-Man's powers, scaling a building was nothing — like Zhang Fei picking bean sprouts: a trivial snack.
---
Seeing the intruder, the black-suited bodyguard at Kingpin's side instinctively drew his pistol, leveling the dark barrel at Maguire.
Maguire smirked.
"If I were you, I'd aim that at myself," he said lightly.
"Because pointing it at an enemy you *can't* stop is a bad life choice."
He tilted his head.
"Here's a tip — the last guy who pulled a gun on me… well, let's just say the grass over his grave… no, actually, he's probably fertilizer for some stray dog by now."
The man's forehead beaded with sweat, Maguire's calm expression doing nothing to ease his nerves.
Kingpin gave a small glance — the signal to shoot.
The bodyguard swallowed and pulled the trigger.
**BANG**
The bullet tore through the air toward Maguire —
only for Maguire to sigh.
"You just don't listen, do you?"
He flicked his palm.
The air shimmered with an unseen force, and the bullet curved mid-flight, whipping back toward its sender.
Before Kingpin's disbelieving eyes, the bodyguard was struck dead — by his own shot.
Kingpin's physique might have been ninety percent pure muscle, but it was still within the limits of human strength.
Tracking a bullet's path up close? Not a chance.
---
Even so, Kingpin's expression barely changed.
As the underground emperor, he'd weathered storms before.
Admitting weakness wasn't in his nature.
Leaning back into his chair, he lit his cigar and exhaled slowly.
"Alright," he said evenly.
"Tell me — why are you here?"
It was the kind of unflappable front that said, *Even if the mountain crumbles before me, I won't move an inch.*
But Maguire wasn't impressed.
*Huh? This big shot thinks he can put on airs in front of me? You really don't take Bully Maguire seriously, do you?*
A flicker of irritation crossed his mind as he began walking toward the desk where Kingpin sat.
