Chapter 1 - Beyond Death

When I opened my eyes, there was only darkness.

A coldness pierced my throat, a burning pain flooded my lungs... and a voice echoed in my ears.

[DEATH RECORDED]

[SYSTEM ACTIVATED: "Godslayer" Module Initializing...]

I turned my head, but what I saw was not the "world."

I was suspended in an endless void. Beneath me, there was no ground, no sky. Only... nothingness.

And right in front of me appeared a giant silhouette with a human-like face, but in its eyes, stars shimmered.

Its voice was deep, yet laced with contempt.

-Pitiful mortal. Did you think death would grant you salvation?

I frowned. Death... yes. I remembered. The blade piercing my chest, the warmth of my blood... and the cold face of betrayal.

It was my brother who killed me.

It was hard to suppress the rage rising inside me. The corner of my lips trembled. "Is this... a nightmare?" I muttered to myself.

-Are you toying with me? I said through clenched teeth.

-Not a game... a proposal. I will give you the purest form of power. In return... you will kill gods.

A "ding" echoed in the void, sharp enough to tear at my ears.

[QUEST: "First Blood" – Claim the essence of a god.] -

[REWARD: Soul Synchronization 100% - Absolute Darkness Authority.]

- Why me? I asked.

The silhouette grinned.

- Because you already have darkness inside you. I only need to... set it free.

At that moment, a black glow flared in the center of my chest.

It spread through my veins like molten lava. All my fear, regret, and pain... melted into a single thing: hunger.

[WARNING: Darkness Authority Active.

Moral restrictions removed.]

The more the darkness enveloped me, the heavier my breathing became.

It felt as though my lungs were filling not with air, but with tar.

Yet, this suffocating sensation... brought pleasure rather than pain.

Suddenly, countless black chains encircled me. At their ends dangled small, writhing fragments of light-souls.

They screamed, but the sound was muffled.

-Are these... mine? I asked.

-They are the remnants of those who once touched this power. You may last longer than they did... or rot faster.

The silhouette's voice grew distant with each word.

And as it faded away, the black glow in my chest swelled, and swelled... until it swallowed me whole.

When I opened my eyes again, I was no longer in the void.

My feet sank into mud mixed with blood.

Severed limbs lay scattered, buzzing with flies.

Above, the sky was painted in a cursed hue of red and black.

From afar, the clash of steel rang out.

Then, a chill ran down my spine.

A gaze... someone had noticed me.

I turned my head and saw a figure in golden armor turning toward me.

Every detail of his armor shone with divine radiance; around his neck hung a holy

pendant bound with glowing seals.

I didn't need to ask who he was.

This... was a demigod.

The system spoke again:

[Choose your first prey, Godslayer.]

[Target: Demigod "Ladrius"]

[Note: Your first kill will define you.]

My fingers wrapped tightly around the dagger at my belt. The metal bit into my skin, but I felt no pain.

Instead, a smile crept onto my lips.

The demigod looked at me, his face twisted in condescension.

-Mortal... what business do you have here?

This battlefield belongs to the gods.

I didn't answer.

I simply stepped forward. One step. Two...

On the third step, the dagger vanished from my hand, replaced by a spear woven from pure darkness.

The ground cracked, and the light in the air wavered.

-Alright then... I whispered. The first god's head is mine.
