Ivy's POV
"Mom, seriously, you didn't have to help me move in." I glanced back at my mother as she struggled up the dormitory steps with a box in her arms.
"Did you honestly believe I would let my daughter move into college without being there?" She laughed, slightly out of breath as she reached the landing.
"Well, kind of..." I chuckled, fumbling with the keys before unlocking my new dorm room. I set down my box with a thud and turned to face her. "It's only temporary. We'll still see each other plenty."
My mother placed her box on the bed and approached me with an expression that made my heart sink. "I don't think that's true, sweetheart."
"What? Mom, come on." I shook my head in disbelief, but she reached for my hands, holding them firmly.
"Listen to me. I may not possess shamanic powers like your grandmother, but I have this feeling—a mother's intuition. Something tells me you won't be returning home."
