Ivy's POV
"Ivy." Nancy's voice startled me from my wandering thoughts. I rose from behind my mother's desk and moved toward the door, pulling it open.
"Hey," I said, immediately noticing the tear stains on her cheeks. "What's wrong?" I stepped outside to join her.
"Nothing... everything. I needed to ask you something," she replied, her voice trembling slightly.
"Anything. Tell me what's bothering you."
"It's Violet." Nancy grabbed my hand desperately as I closed the office door behind me. "Wh-"
"What do you think you're doing in the luna's office?" Kathrine's shrill voice cut through our conversation like nails on a chalkboard.
I turned to face her, instinctively positioning myself between her and Nancy. "Who are you to question me about my mother's office?" I could feel my lip curling in disgust. "The better question is, why have your scents been lingering in the luna's office?"
