Chapter 68: Following You
Nyxmaris slipped through the castle like water, making sure that his steps were silent.
He walked with the same patience the sea had taught him, always aware of the smallest change in air, every sound too to be aware of in the stillness.
He had told Nadeira to rest, but he couldn't. Not when Levius walked the same halls. Not when the stench of his cruelty was still affecting his precious pearl.
'If he hurt her again…' Nyxmaris thought, his jaw tightened with force. His violet eyes glowed as he kept his body pressed against the stone wall, listening to every conversation.
Down the corridor, he noticed the door being opened. The golden wash of torchlight spilled onto the floor.
Nyxmaris raised his eyebrows, narrowing his gaze; he knew who it was immediately.
The man's tall frame was full of arrogance in every stride, his cloak brushed behind him.
Levius didn't glance back as he descended the stone stairwell, clearly certain no one dared follow him.
